Beat Shock 581 September 30, 2012 Share September 30, 2012 Do something nice today in the Forums! Go compliment somepony, bring up threads that got noticably buried by others, be generous with your brohoofs, make somepony feel good about themself!! Lets love and tolerate, as we make the brony community a place for EVERYPONY! - (My status update) I wanted to suggest that we try to think of what we post before replying to a thread. Read what you write, and imagine if someone said that to you, because what you say on the internet is WAY different from what you would intention to say in real life. People are very judgmental on what threads you post, and the thread posters don't expect bad feedback. They could ruin your day, and embarrass you greatly... "Why don't you just report them?" -Most of the time, it's not serious harassment. It's just a pet peeve when people gang up against your thread, even though you work hard on it, and expect positive feedback. They aren't being harsh enough to report, but sometimes they just make your day worse. Also, sometimes people feel embarrassed to say anything back to a reply. When a poster doesn't use any abusive sentences, they could still make others feel bad about their self. I know many people have worked hard on threads they make, and that they feel extremely proud of it when they post. I know that excited feeling when you make a topic and you wait for replies... usually, you expect people to agree with you, and brohoof you, but apparently, they say it's not worth their time, or that you shouldn't of posted that. Today, I want you guys to make somepony feel good about themselves, especially the Cupcakes, the Muffins, and the Blank Flanks. I wish that people could post to discussions, as if they were to post to a drawing in Octavia's hall. Drawings always get positive feedback, even if they look like a 1st graders, although critiquing is accepted. If there were more people that would actually love and tolerate what people post, then these Forums could become a place where everyone is comfortable being on. I want you to do ARK: Acts of Random Kindness If you do this, then the whole world will smile back to you like Pinkie Pie when she sings her happy songs throughout Ponyville!

Gekoncze 327 September 30, 2012 Share September 30, 2012 100% agree. I am trying to be as nice as possible even when I don't agree on something. Even if somepony was rude I wouldn't post anything bad, because it would make things even worse.

I'm glad you guys agree! It's generally right that you will have a lot easier life if you walk the life with peace and love in your mind, rather than flames in mind and a sword in hand. There is something that makes the good things you do come back to you as good things. I do not know it is karma or God, but it works, and that's all I need to know. This is what I heard: What ever you put out into the universe, you get 10 times back. Even though you don't think it's 10 fold, if you compare your feelings afterwords to the deed/sin you did, you will realize that the results are lot stronger!
HungryTroll 137 September 30, 2012 Share September 30, 2012 I'm trying but in real life i'm frankly speaker and sacastic person, I could deal with sarcasm but it's hard to do the same with second part But I can undestand what you meaning - than I have bad mood, I'm just trying to be as kind as I can, and smile as much as I can, it helps you to improve yours mood.
Nouth 496 September 30, 2012 Share September 30, 2012 This is what I heard: What ever you put out into the universe, you get 10 times back. Yup. We could speculate about the actual quantity of returned deed, but the basic idea is absolutely correct. It does not work just with the feelings IMO, I think that the Universe returns the sins / good acts as sins / good acts to us via other people too. 2 Splendid siggy by Chaotic Dischord, awesome avatar by Suntouched Coco!Ask me anything you want ! HungryTroll 137 September 30, 2012 Share September 30, 2012 This is what I heard: What ever you put out into the universe, you get 10 times back. I understand it like that - if you kind towards world and people, they become kinder, and in the end you live in better world It's simple. If you stressed and in bad mood, don't give it to world, but melt it in kindness (Yep, it hard some times then every one around in bad mood, but that means that you just have to play role of kind one arr I messed with thoughts)

NavelColt 22,880 September 30, 2012 Share September 30, 2012 This is a fantastic thread, and it makes me obscenely happy to see members making these sort of things. IDK, I"m vise versa happy that season 3 havent comed out yet, I'm fearing that since there a lot of rumors that it would be last season, there would be real reduction of amount of bronies after it And that reminds me, I'll head straight to welcoming plaza after I complete my chemistry. I's good if everyone could greet at least one new member per day, it's sad some times than i see posts in welcoming plaza without answers at all.

Creamy Arty 6,252 September 30, 2012 Share September 30, 2012 I have a tendency not to report people when they decide to start something with me. I won't fight with them, at least not with insults or course language, but depending on the nature of their post I'll either rationally confront or ignore them. The way I see it is that if their rude post is left where it is people can easily see them for who they are; if they can do that then I have no need to defend myself. So long as I remain an amiable person any attack against me will be reputational suicide for my assailant. On the other hand, if their jab isn't so much at me as it is a belief or personal interest of mine, then I'll want it removed lest somebody else who shares my perspective take offense and decide to retaliate. And that's where threads get derailed. Something I want everybody to keep in mind but generally goes against societal norms everywhere both on and offline is that respect isn't something to be earned, but something to be given. Saying that your respect must be earned is the same as saying another person is beneath you. It also implies that anybody should desire to earn your respect and that it's worth the effort. That's egotistical. If that's somebody's first impression of you or this forum then don't expect them to stick around. We should make no room for idols here (except the Feldster, of course), nor should there be any member factions or nationalism (known as britfags versus amerifags in some places). Fortunately I haven't observed that here yet, but I bring it up because this is the internet and I have seen it nearly everywhere else, and complacency could cause it to infiltrate this place too. We're all on equal footing here. This is neutral ground but it isn't a no man's land; it's everyone's land. Making new guys feel like they belong is just as easy as running them off, so choose the former. 2 Kyoshi made this ^^ Come join us on Equestria.tv on Fridays at 6 PM Eastern for our weekly movie nights! Zygen 6,066 September 30, 2012 Share September 30, 2012 I think I'm generally a nice person. I don't really get mad at people, especially not on here yet. I'm quite shy and quite IRL usually so I don't exactly have being a jerk in my nature. I also feel like I have a weird feeling that I have to brohoof all kinds of posts. I give out brohoofs all the time . Overall I think I'm a pretty nice person. I try to offer kind advice and stuff whenever I can. And I don't go around cursing people out for sure. I don't plan on blowing up on someone on here. It would seem totally out of place here. 1 Thanks to Gone Airbourne for the awesome sig! real_equestrian 30 September 30, 2012 Share September 30, 2012 I wanted to suggest that we try to think of what we post before replying to a thread. It's generally considered wise to think before you actually post or say anything because: "Once it's on the internet, it's there forever!" -Old internet proverb Remember that next time you post something.
Beat Shock 581 October 1, 2012 Author Share October 1, 2012 This is a fantastic thread, and it makes me obscenely happy to see members making these sort of things. All my brohooves :3 Yes, I think this has made me realize more. I think more activity in the Welcoming Plaza would make people feel more confident about posting here on the Forums. There should be another way to greet new members without just saying: "Welcome to the Forums! I hope you have a great time here!" but I think we should try to connect with them and ask them more about their self. They would feel like we are more interested in them if we asked questions that they would be anxious to answer. Also, if you gave them advice, and gave them an idea on what to expect, they probably wouldn't be so sensitive to the things that many people post. What if we were to go to a new member and post: "I want to learn more about you! You should start out by posting on a lot of different threads, and tell everypony about your opinions and thoughts!" And if you could find a way to compliment them... "Nice username" or "Your story made me smile". Anything to make them feel truly welcomed. I've noticed that most of the users on here become inactive before they post anything at all! My friend at school said that he quit MLP Forums because no one found him interesting, and people would make him feel bad about the thoughts and posts he made. Great idea, CD! (btw, since when did you become a mod?!)
Doctor XFizzle 8,669 October 1, 2012 Share October 1, 2012 (edited) Ask not what MLP Forums can do for you, but what you can do for MLP Forums. More emphasis on responses in Welcoming Plaza is crucial I feel to sustainable new person activity. Also accepting any and all friend requests you might be sent. I know people are picky about who they accept but come on. It's not like everyone in your friend list has access to your bank account and knows your fears and class schedule. I never look at my friend list so I don't feel obligated to spruce it up with only the top users. I take all requests because it could help the other person feel better.
