So recently there's been a lot of discussion and flame wars about PT (purple tinker) I really honestly don't care, but why is it such heated debate amongst us? This kind of publicity is the wrong kind for our fandom, and we ought to figure all this drama and nonsense out before it permanently scars our image. I know we are supposed to tolerate everyone, but do we really have to put up with this kind of thing? I would like I hear your guys opinions.

I don't fully understand it myself, from what I got from it all is that PT was one of the people who started brony con, an ended up embezzling money from it, and wants Hasbro to take an interest in the fandom, but Hasbro refused so PT is getting a petition signed to sue Hasbro or something... Don't quote me but that's my understanding of it all.

PT believes she has been a victim of slander, and wanted to shut down Canterlot Gardens because the people running it were the ones "supposedly" saying those things? She wanted help from Hasbro and a few other Brony organisations I think. Idk.

 

I mean, the reason that some of us like to actively talk about this is because we like being in the loop. PT is pretty well known, a sort of celebrity if you can put it that way.

Thank you for the post, it was very helpful. It's sad but I guess it's just part of having such an open fandom. It definitely has its downfalls.

 

 

I may have stated it wrong, I was just hoping to clear everything up, I've had many people ask me, and couldn't answer, so it was more out of curiosity of the subject than anything.

From my understanding, and I may be thinking of a different incident, the founder of brony con was accused of bringing a knife to brony con at Canterlot Gardens and was accused of intending to murder someone and that she was arrested while high on drugs. The founder, however was in Brooklyn, away from Brony con. They are asking that Hasbro not affiliate themselves with Canterlot Gardens at all.

It's related but I believe your thinking of the Yelling At Cats incident. But your pretty much on target with it, but I think the truth was lost in translation, I for sure will never know 100% what went down.

that's how. im not sure exactly what went on but from what i can tell pt had a grudge against someone and

a) intended to kill the person while being high

or

b ) sent a letter to hasbro telling them to shut down canterlot gardens

both of which are crazy and she hasn't done herself any favors by making it public. also she is forgetting that the attendees of the con will be devastated

Neither will I, but I was just relaying information I got from her and other sources I remembered reading yesterday. I'm going to support PT though. Mainly because I can't see someone who founded Brony con to do these things. And since money was involved with those who spread the rumors, Greed is a bitch, and that is the main reason why I'm more inclined to believe PT than teh rumors.

I believe she identifies herself as a female but I don't know, and yeah I wish I could help a lot of people, but I really don't know what's going on inside her head, so nobody can really help with it, best advice I can give is to just try and talk to them about maybe trying I be more publicly friendly.

Keep in mind that I'm not entirely sure what has happened, but from information that I have gathered, here is what I have pieced together.

 

Purple Tinker was, and stil is in a way, an influential member of the fandom. She was a former organiser of Bronycon, the largest and most popular brony convention. She had stepped down, over reasons that I'm not aware of. However, I have heard that it involved some drama between staff members.

 

Now here is where it is a bit hazy. Rumours were spreading about Purple Tinker that weren't the nicest of things (such as stealing money etc) and Purple Tinker was able to prove these rumours wrong via her DeviantArt account (link:

).

 

So, a ton of other brony conventions start opening up, which is fine, but apparently, Purple Tinker tried to get people to shut down the cons, such as fellow bronies, and even Hasbro. However, her attempts were fruitless, as Everfree and Canterlot Gardens have gone on just fine.

 

However, from what I've heard, Purple Tinker started spreading slander about the cons, saying things about how there were rape jokes made during the CMC panel, and that there was racial slurs in the hallways at Everfree, and all that nasty stuff. The supposed reason is because the organisers were former Bronycon staff members, who had had fights with Purple Tinker in the past.

 

That is why people dislike her, because she was spreading false rumours about the cons.

 

Remember, I'm not sure how much of it is true, because this is all information I have gathered that may or may not be biased to either party, but in my opinion, Purple Tinker shouldn't be spreading slander about the cons, even if she doesn't like the people who run the cons. She had lies spread around her, so she should know what it feels like, shouldn't she? If this is true, then that makes her in the wrong, because she had a responsibility, and a lot of people were on her side, but she threw it all away for her own gain.

 

I'm not sure if the situation has developed anymore, but like I have said, this is based of evidence gathered from her DeviantArt page, as well as Twitter feeds, Tumblr posts, forums and news sites. If I have anything wrong, or there is more evidence, please don't hesitate to tell me.
