Oh, Thanks! Is the Auction House a great place to make Gold easily in the beginning? (Just looking for as much advice as possible before I start the game)

NEVER go to the auction house as a new player unless you're selling low-level gathering materials like ores and herbs. If you do go there at too early a level, you'll be clueless and probably end up losing money instead of gaining it.

So, WoW is down from 10 million to 7.1 million subs right now. I think if Blizzard doesn't start getting their shit together, they won't see those numbers rise again. Sooner or later, they're going to alienate their entire player base, and you might say, "well, they'll get those numbers back later" but look at it this way, if they keep up the crap they're doing, they might get a small spike before the next xpac, but that's it. I've unsubbed from the game, mostly because I've been short on cash lately, but if I have to see the same crap, Apexis dailies, Tanaan from what I've heard is basically a glorified Timeless Isle, Garrisons have turned out to be a flop, I won't be resubbing. I'm playing on a Lich King server now, which is better than the Vanilla server IMO.

As someone who started in MoP, I can say that the questing has been good, but you can only do it all so many times before it gets boring and repetitive. And end game is stale now, with the lack of content, and 2, soon to be 3 Raids, Mythic dungeons which I've heard are just scaled up Heroics. No new mechanics, no added challenge. What's happening to this game? Class nerfs that make no sense, reusing old content, At least MoP had shit to do. What do you guys think?

You hit the nail on the head, Celli. Now, if I may go on a bit of a rant at this game.

I've been playing on and off since Classic, and I canceled earlier today. I only played because I wanted to wait and see what happens next with this game. I do agree that the nerfs have been getting way too nonsensical and inane. i.e. the Monk nerfs that were rescinded when Blizzard realised they fucked up.

I personally think they overdid the leveling experience this expansion. I also do agree Garrisons have been a colossal disappointment, with offering very little to do because of the RNG-reliant the missions/rewards are.

When I think Cataclysm had more to offer, despite its polarising reputation in the community, you know you messed up as a company. I'm not sure where exactly should I pinpoint WoD's faults because it's starting to really show, with it losing nearly three million subscribers. A game doesn't just lose three million subscribers in three months for no reason.

Another minor issue that I have is that they seemed to sprinkle in the most random internet memes in the most ham-fisted way possible in an attempt to be relevant again. I know Blizzard always does this, but not at the level seen in this expansion pack. Case in point: Left Shark from the Super Bowl on the PTR, beast mode in the garrison missions, etc.

Where did the magic go?

I think Blizzard forgot why people loved the game after Cataclysm released when new players at the time complained the game was too hard, and made the game too casual.

Personally I think the company is just extremely greedy. They think up more ways to squeeze a bit more cash out of people, so they can keep running. Every quarter they have some cool new stuff to make people sub, so it looks like they have more active players than they actually do. They don't release content when they should, but when it will make them more money. Greed is preventing a change such as BTP which would help the game SO MUCH (not the company). But we wont see that for another at least 5 years. Even with (only) 7mil players it's the biggest or close to playerbase that exists.

And then there's the whole very poisonous community which they don't seem to do much about. Bad attitude and behaviour on an online game spreads like the plague and it's seriously hurting the game.

If you think the community's poisonous, don't visit the forums, because the Blizzard GMs respond to concerns about questionable changes with snide remarks and cynical attitudes, it really shows they don't give a shit. Zarhym and Bashiok are pretty notorious for that shit.

I stopped going to the forums when they changed it from the old site. It's just always one big shitstorm of drama and qq's.

It used to be cool when they got the 1up on someone, but now they're just neglecting their true duties and help making the playerbase even more toxic.

That's complete bullshit and you know it. Blizzard most definitely does care about the community, more than any big-name publisher out there. They obviously listen to the community, and just one look at patch note changes could reveal that. They put making a good game first and foremost, and in order to do that, they have to "give a shit." If they didn't give a shit, the RealID system would be in place, classes would still be unbalanced, and the game would have died LONG ago. If a 10-year-old game can pull in 7.1 million subs in the middle of a between-patch lull, I'd think that's evidence of something being done right. By no means is Blizzard perfect, but they have much better community interaction than most game companies of their caliber. As for the snide remarks and cynical attitudes, I'd be pretty annoyed too if I had to deal with the constant QQ of the community. Let's not forget that it's not WoW that specifically has the toxic community, but gaming as a whole. I can't name a single game with a flawless community, even single player games.

Nah, it's cool.

I dunno, I've seen a lot of shit on the WoW forums, people post criticizing the developers and they get 50, 100, 200 upvotes. I see people say that when Cata came out, Blizzard casualized the game because after the Beta for it, new players came in an complained the game was too hard. And a lot of people say that Wrath was the last time the game was good. I guess maybe some people are just entitled and don't understand that if they kept WoW the same, it would have gone stale by now.

I still don't like the lack of content currently.

There's always a lack of content between patches. Actually, there's more content to do between 6.1 and 6.2 than any other patch so far since Vanilla.

I was referring to the fact that 6.1 had basically zero content, and 6.2 is looking to have content similar to Timeless Isle, which was terrible imo, and one Raid. It seemed that every patch before added some good stuff, but currently each patch has added nothing.

I dunno, I think that most of those complaints are a bit unfounded looking into the past of WoW.

Well, looks like I'm back to WoW due to the WoW Token system.

Cities are just so dead nowadays. Everyone just chills in their garrison. I wish they'd bring back a Dalaran-esque city to make the game feel more alive

I'm sure in the next expansion they'll bring back the big cities. Actually, Ironforge is pretty active on my server.

Do you think they'll ever fix the park? Also, for the next xpac, I would love to see the other side of Azeroth.

Has there been any mention of the other side of Azeroth in any of the expanded universe? As far as I know, I don't remember any.

They mentioned it in a panel I believe and said it's a possibility for a future xpac.

I've been achievement hunting the past couple days because my account subscription expires early June. I want to make the most of it, and I don't know when I want to come back. Yeah, patch 6.2 is in the PTR, but I want to see how the reception is on Live realms before making a judgment on it.

I want to spend more time with life and other things, which is why I canceled.

Got a Gnome Demo Lock up to level 20 on starter edition. One of the most fun classes I've played.

Ah, I can't stay away from this game, I have too much fun leveling alts.

Hey guys, let me ask you this. Were I to get back into WoW, how easy or hard would it be to find and join a dedicated RP guild?

Well, for that you'd need to join an RP server, and the only one I know anything about is Moonguard, and I think you know that's not the best for serious RPing. There are a few other RP and PvPRP servers you could look at, though.

I'll dig into it. While I'm on the subject though, anypony here play WoW chiefly for RP? That was why I played it.
