Do you think Rainbow Dash has a short temper?

She may be my favorite pony but, I think she seems to get pissed of really easily. Like in "Dragonshy" she looked mad through the whole trip up the mountain. I get pissed off easily too so it's nothing rare. So what do you guys think?

I think she gets annoyed very easy... I wouldn't say angry, so no I don't think she's irritable, she just doesn't like it when ponies annoy her.

She might be short-tempered, quick-mouthed, over-confident mare, but she's not unreasonable. As in Hurricane Fluttershy, she was visibly pissed when Fluttershy refused to do her part, but she didn't push it any further when Fluttershy running away crying

Yes, I must agree, but she has some reasons...although they are mostly biased. It gets to the point of where she can't stand it (Mare do well anyone?) and tries to do something about it, but not much more than that.

I think she can be competitive and pretty agressive when it comes to being insulted and challanged, but mostly by the pegasai jocks in Cloudsdale.

Everything and everypony in mare do well are over-dramatized, Rainbow Dash became a self-worshipping mare, while in any other episodes she at least tried to understand others and put their needs above hers (the 2nd episode and Hurricane Fluttershy being the most obvious)

It's not a question, more a fact. Dash has the shortest temper of any of the Mane Six, and can often be a bit hot-headed, especially when it comes to competition. But like Weaver mentioned, she's able to be reasonable when her friends are emotionally upset or prove that they are in distress. I feel like Dash sees herself as a protector, and is definitely the pony who'd be first in line to protect those important to her, whether that's in a dangerous situation or just a close friend in distress. Ergo, she has times where she knows blowing her top isn't called for, and resorts to trying her best to comfort. Even when she knows she's not the best at comforting, or 'being sappy' as she calls it.

 

Hurricane Fluttershy was indeed one of the best examples, again, as Weaver said. Dash looked like she was far gone on blowing out at Fluttershy near the beginning when Dash was trying to get her to participate, but then immediately saw Fluttershy's reaction, and immediately calmed herself down into a softer manner. Go to 6:18 to see what I mean. "SUCK IT UP, FLUTTERSHY, THERE'S NO TIME FOR-...I mean, confidence or no confidence, I'm gonna need every pegasus to break the record, including you."

I dont think she's short tempered.She's just really impatient.I guess it goes with her "fast and perfect" personality I guess.

Hmmm...to be honest, I think it's a bit difficult to say something about it for herself. This means, does she have the shortest temper out of the mane 6? Yeah, that's a fact. But I don't know if she has THAT much of a short temper as one would describe it. The problem is, this gets mixed with other two traits of her. Being impatient and being hot-headed, both main things that lead to short temper. I mean yeah, she does get overly mad on very few occasions, but it mostly starts up from one of the other two traits I mentioned before. I wouldn't know really, since it is somewhat difficult to difference them when they are so closely related.

Ill admit she can be a bit 110% at times.

but i dont think she does it purposley.

i think she just wants 110 percent-all or nothing-living on the edge attitude from everypony else around her.

It can be frustrating to have a not as confident person slow you down or prevent you from acomplishing a task.

sometimes it gets the better of her.

At least she is quick to recognize her "over the topness" and try to make ammends.

In conclusion, no, i do not think she has a temper.......shes just cocky.

Dash kind of reminds me of a very close friend who I know plays Lacrosse and Basketball, and everytime she would get out onto the court, she would become a totally different person. She would be competitive, on-edge, and really irritated when someone messed up one of her special plays. I mean, that can happen to anybody especially on an athletic field, it's human nature. But when she's not on the court, she's outgoing, quirky, hyper, and somewhat boastful with her ego, kind of like Dash.

 

So, overall, I think Dash simply represents the "egotistical competitive" traits that every human has, but still has that "I'll be here for ya, sport" kind of attitude.

She has buttons that are very easy to push which results in her either bucking you, or being right in your face. However there are other things that would annoy most of the other ponies that would not cause any problems with rainbow dash.

Rainbow holds herself to certain standards, and revels in her accomplishments, and agonizes over her failures. With that, she also has a clear perspective on what her priorities should be, and her element of loyalty usually ensures that those priorities don't put any of her friends in danger. Of course not all writers actually write the characters exactly the same, so there will be times where there are contradictions, but that's to be expected, and people like Thiessen, McCarthy, and Wootton help add to the consistency.

I think she's protective of her. She didn't want Fluttershy to go up the mountain. and she didn't particularly force the issue of her joining the other pegasai for the hurricane. Dash knows Fluttershy's limits, and doesn't push on them too hard.

This does make sense. Although to me, she is still easily irritated, but I think you've got a great point here. While seemingly coming off as mean to Fluttershy, she's still caring deep down.

Ya, somebody has to play that role. Rarity always bottles up her anger, Twilight and Fluttershy require a great deal before they finally lose it, Pinkie Pie is incapable, and AJ has always played the "normal one" so her tolerance isn't too short or too long.

I don't think RD has a short temper. I do think she gets annoyed easily (like me.) However, if you're looking for someone with a short temper, I think it would deffinetley be Gilda.
