Diamond Tiara back story?

Being a fan of Diamond Tiara, I wanna write a backstory about her. The general problem with DT, in my honest opinion, is that she is woefully underrated and underdeveloped. Yeah, you may not like her, but even you have to agree with me on this. I've yet to see anyone in the MLP fandom actually take the time to make an well-thoughtout story for her like they did with Trixie and Gilda. I mean, is she really doomed to be known as "that bratty, little earth pony who's a jerk to every pony"?

C'mon. Is there anyone here who can help make a back story for Diamond Tiara?

Well she was born of Filthy Rich, and was given everything that she could ever want, from this she became a brat, and began thinking that she was better then everypony. Silver Spoon met up with her, and they became the best of friends, they basically found they could rule over the classroom as the most popular ponies, because of there wealth. SS just follows her around, as her "bought friend".

Its true I suppose that there's not really anything in the way of backstory for Diamond Tiara. Unless you want to count that she got a cutie mark that literally means she is a stuck up brat. And her father is named Filthy rich. And that he owns a expensive company.

I suppose she doesn't have a whole ton of backstory show wise, however this is understandable since shes more of a side character. Shes not background, but a side in my eyes.

I don't have the skill to write backstory for her. I converse about speculations and such, but I don't really create backstory. :P

I personally am not a huge fan of her or anything, I don't hate her. I just am ok with her nothing more or less.

Sleepyhead just took my idea right out of my head before I even began to post it. Usually for most spoiled brats, those stories are true, because most rich people are too busy doing their jobs while their children hardly ever have time to hang out with the parents they love the most.

I feel like the series hints at the backstory of DT more and more as time goes on and we're better acquainted with all of the Ponyville ponies but for now she's pretty undeveloped and just exists as an antagonist, but she's kind of helpful that way. Keeping in mind the target audience is [sometimes] little kids, she kind of acts like kids might in school and the fact that she doesn't have a backstory helps children relate to the ponies she's antagonizing. It really complicates things for a young kid who gets picked on to have an in-depth knowledge of what's going on for the person picking on them.

Well she must be angry about something, knowingly or not. She would not just wake up in the morning and say 'today, I'm going to be evil again!' Generally people don't do things they know are wrong, so maybe she just has unrealistically high expectations of other ponies and gets upset when they don't meet them.

With the Gabby Gums articles, she might have wanted to lash out at others (humiliating articles) since nobody likes her. And that makes everybody hate her even more. If she were given a patient ear and some respect with no conditions attached, she might surprise.

Any canon backstory at all might make DT's antagonism more specific and therefore less applicable to the wide range of young school kids that watch the show, like what Brooklyn Dash said. There should be room for the viewer's imagination to fill in. On the other hoof, if a backstory was given, children might understand that some bullies have their own problems and are still to be treated as people (or ponies) and not absolute enemies. It would not have to be the moral of the episode, all it would need to do is present the possibility.

There was a fantastic story on FIMfiction detailing how Diamond and Silver Spoon met and became genuine friends, and how they came up with the "sugar lump rump" thing and such. It really seemed plausible and suggested why they act the way they do; they're so rich and spoiled they can't identify with anypony else, so for now it's them against the world. I don't remember the title and due to the site's search system running about as well as an AMC Gremlin, I doubt I'll be able to find it to post a link. But you'll know it if you ever see it.

Notice that Diamond did not lash out at Silver when she showed unabashed appreciation of Granny Smith's story. Maybe both of those things counted for something in canon. I'd like to see their characters develop more on the show, especially Silver Spoon.
