I love Halloween movies!

Normally I always watch tons of classic horror movies from the 1970s and 1980s. Evil Dead, Halloween (except the 3rd one because it was terrible), Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, etc. I know its weird, but I find them hilarious. But this year I can't watch them because I don't get AMC FearFest here at my university :(

I also like to watch Evil Dead the Musical on YouTube because it is a perfect parody of the horror genre, although I guess technically that's not a movie.

Of course I also like all the Halloween specials like Nightmare Before Christmas, the Charlie Brown special, etc.

oh another of these threads.. Since I was just about to go to bed I'll make it short and not include that many movies :c

The movies I always watch on halloween is the original Friday the 13th (1980) Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3.

And of course I always watch Halloween (1978).

Hmm.. Sometimes I watch some dracula movie or something too.

And I like to watch some Tales from the Crypt episodes too.

Evil Dead

no no no you can't watch Evil Dead at halloween! It's not a movie suitable for halloween!

Oh and I forgot another movie, Pumpkinhead!

I do enjoy some of those old, Mexican wrestling/horror films from the 50's. They are some of the crappiest movies made, but with so many re-runs of those during this time of year, they're almost unavoidable.

Nosferatu is from 1922, silly :3

Anyways, yeah classics of course. Frankenstein is another favorite of mine.

@@MelancholicMemory,

And another of there typical Halloween-horrors are the Trick 'r Treat movies from 2007 and 2009. I liked those two but I expected more from what I had read about them.

I usually watch Mystery Science Theater episodes that parody Halloween movies. :P

Most horror doesn't scare me, as it's just filled with pointless gore that you'd find in the lyrics of death metal or grindcore. For instance, I had to sit through Texas Chainsaw Massacre at a party last night. AWFUL MOVIE.

Evil Dead is always appropriate.

Yeah, I felt the same way.

I also forgot about Psycho, The Shining, Night of the Living Dead (the original), Dawn of the Dead (the original), Silence of the Lambs, and American Psycho.

Aw dude nononono

Evil Dead, Psycho, Night of the living dead, dawn of the dead, silence of the lambs and American psycho are also great horrors. I could list over 500 good horror movies but we already have a thread for that. Those movies are not movies you watch on Halloween.. They just aren't considered Halloween horrors.

Possibly night of the living dead, but not the others. I know my subject, Im a huge horror fan

Like everypony is saying Evil Dead is a great Halloween movie. The first Alien is good as well. Some others are Trick 'R Treat, which is on Netflix streaming, Poltergeist, and C.H.U.D.

But the best horror movie I have ever seen was John Carpenter's The Thing.

The perfect movie for Halloween considering its about a Halloween party gone mad:

Parts II and III aren't that bad either, but definately check out the first one for some oldschool halloween horror.

Everypony saying Evil Dead is a great Halloween movie? Uhm, no it's just @MelancholicMemory who's saying that. I disagree. The movie is awesome but it isn't something to watch for halloween.

A halloween horror is a horror that takes place in halloween or horrors that has some certain type of creatures in them. Not monsters, but like Frankenstein, mutants, zombie movies that are NOT splatters or action horror (therefore not evil dead or dawn of the dead) , Vampires, or slasher films with murderers who are special in some way like in Friday the 13th where Jason cannot die.

"Well, then Stephen King's IT is a good halloween horror!"

No silly ponies, even though it has what I said ALL MOVIES CONSIDERED HALLOWEEN HORRORS MUST TAKE PLACE AT NIGHT (plus one or more of the other things listed). ,and therefore only those should be watched at halloween.

imo.

See this dude knows what he's talking about.

Keep your non-Halloween horrors for other days :)

Well there aren't really any rules for what is a Halloween horror, lol but when you're really into horror, you just know.

Oh and also, halloween horrors takes almost always place somewhere near where people live.

(Example friday the 13th doesn't take place at halloween at all but it got it's unkillable Jason with mask, it takes place at night and it takes place near where people live (the CCL). Therefore it's good to watch at halloween)

Haha oh I really am a perfectionist, lawl.

@@Jokuc, I think the main problem here is that different people have different ideas about what a Halloween horror movie is. On Halloween, I watch as many horror movies as humanly possible because I believe Halloween is about fear and monsters and enjoying the experience of horror. I see every horror movie as appropriate for Halloween. You, on the other hand, have a specific set of parameters for what "Halloween horror" movie is. At the end of the day though, this is all subjective, and I think we should spend less time arguing about what horror movies are appropriate for Halloween and instead simply enjoy the awesome cinematic experience of Halloween while sharing our personal favorites. :)

Halloween isn't celebrated where I live. And I watch horror movies all the time so that's why I want to watch a certain type of movies that day.

Oh, okay. That explains it. I was just saying though that just because you only watch certain movies on Halloween, that doesn't mean everyone should limit themselves to those too. I also watch horror movies all the time. The horror genre is my favorite. Around Halloween though, I watch them in a marathon throughout the day.

  • 6 years later...

I never watched anything beyond PG when I was more into Halloween. Usually the Halloween specials on Cartoon Network did it for me :P . Like of the Grim Adventures or Camp Lazlo.
