SmileForever^.^ 128 November 5, 2012 Share November 5, 2012 (edited) Hello everypony (or dragon, or Lyra's) I'm pretty sure this question has been asked before, but I wanted to ask it personally, and put some smiles on your face! Yes, I'm talking to you, you think I can't see you? ^.^ Well, my story begins! As a younger child (I'm 17 now, LOVE that I can still call myself a child ) I didn't have much of a childhood. This is because, my brother was very ill, so my mother spent most of her time with him, In fact, she admitted that she forgot my existence at times; my father is an drug addict, so I don't see much of him (but I'm trying my best to help him even if he hates me). I didn't fit in much in school. I lived in a small 'city' called Aalborg, which is in the north of Denmark, which I may add, is very small. People where very racist to me due to me being a Somalian (arrg) I still don't know why, aren't we all people? anyway, Parents would normally shun me from their children, and encouraged them bullying me (don't get me started on the teachers) so I was very alone. But I still tried my best to make people happy, even if I wasn't entirely happy, because giving a gift to someone which is something you don't have...is awesome After 2 and a half years of fighting, my brother died. And my parents divorced in the same month. My mother decided to run away with me to London, leaving all our belongings. We where pretty much homeless for 2 years. And as for school, I didn't have 'appropriate' social skills, so I was bullied AGAIN. Not only because didn't have the looks I have now (This guy that use to be mean to me asked me out on a date last week, Haha! he didn't know it was me!) but also because apparently I'm an easy target because I acted too positively around them. about 3 years ago, I made my first true friends But thinking about it now, they treated me like poop. Something happened between the others. I tried to keep our friendship strong, but I failed. Then for some reason, I blamed myself for my brothers death. Then I said to myself 'What's the point in smiling, when the world won't smile back at me?'. I went total Pinkamena for about a year. I was really depressed, because I know I'm not very lucky. Then, " years ago, I came across MLP. And it hit me like a cream pie! I kept watching, and my hope was restored! YAY Pinkie Pie reminds me SO BUCKING much of myself, Which is really really fun! I'm a very VERY social girl now and I still try my best to make people happy, because it makes me happy, because happiness has to come from somewhere, why not be the source? And lastly... AegisReflector 886 November 5, 2012 Share November 5, 2012 Very good story. It just goes to show you how much of a positive impact a television show can have on one's personality. Hopefully, FiM's new season continues to shine your day filled with happiness and an overall sense of joy. Your brother would want you to smile and be happy for the rest of your life. I'm sure you would too. Remember to never give up and always do what Pinkie Pie says, "Smile Smile Smile!"

Twilight Circuits 603 November 6, 2012 Share November 6, 2012 My Little Pony Friendship is Magic taught me that there was still love left in the world, and that love knows no age, race, border, or continent. That you can love your enemy just as much as you love your closest kin, but mostly, that love, regardless of it's form, can stem from the mightiest of people, to the lowliest of criminals, as all, are never lost. 2 For I have saved your soul in the heavens, and now save it on the ground. - TwilighCelunaCircuits
Starflower 323 November 6, 2012 Share November 6, 2012 My Little Pony made me think of life in a positive way as well. A smile changes everything! I'm glad for the fact that MLP changed you. Like Aegis said, hopefully Season 3 continues to shine your personality, and so will all of us.
Chevette 1,052 November 6, 2012 Share November 6, 2012 I would have to say the biggest lesson the show has brought to my attention is judgement. Not saying I was judgmental to begin with, but as anyone else, I had my doubts with a show about cartoon ponies; but as it turned out, it was definitely much more than that. Not only is the show entertaining, but it makes you think... "How do ponies without horns brush their hair..." Yes, I'm sure this has come to mind before. Anyways, the true meaning of judgment doesn't lie within the show, the show only makes it known. There are many closed mined people in this world, possibly way too many; but just look what this show did, it created a fanbase with many things intertwining together which created much more than just fans, it created artwork, stories, haters, lovers, friends & much more. Maybe some of the fans of this show weren't inspired to write or make artwork, but as soon as they saw others getting involved they wanted to be apart of it. And that's what I think the show did, it opened up new roads in people's minds. Just like the Chevrolet ad says "Chevrolet Runs Deep", so does the inspiration of many who work to create not only the show, but the fan works that we see everyday. 1 Chevette x Chevelle ~ OTP "Happiness is a quarter of a million Chevettes"
Shanks 10,816 November 6, 2012 Share November 6, 2012 MLP didn't affect me quite as much but I think it still helped, I am going some mild depression right now and am stuggling to keep my rage under control but I have been in far deeper and have managed to get myself out. MLP has helped me a little with this by reminding me of what is really important in life and to keep hope alive, and it has that little X factor that just brings out my inner Pinkie Pie. It has also made me more open minded and willing to try new things, I never thought someone could actually take something like My Little Pony and make it good. 1 Rarity Get's Cockroaches

~Asuka <3~ 867 November 6, 2012 Share November 6, 2012 (edited) MLP helped me gain a more positive spin on things. Not everything is going to be bad, and this show proves it. I also learned to refrain from being judgemental. Since I'm constantly teased for liking the show, I feel for those who are teased regardless of the reason. Colt 555 November 6, 2012 Share November 6, 2012 Thax a lot for sharing @@SmileForever^.^, The way MLP has helped me does not has a big impact In my way of living in RL but more on the personal side. Some years ago my creative self was going crasy. I wrote a full story about a fantasy world and that stuff and still I believe is damn good but with the time and my absolute inability to draw stuff the fire drive me to write down what I had on my head just went off. I keep dreaming about stuff and even create 2 new stories from that but I just keep them in my head When I cross paths with MLP:FIM I was kind aware of the show and the noice its fans made in the webs, suddenly I started to watch the episodes and it just grew up on me. I was astonished by the work of this amazing community and the talent they transpired in the webs, and just like that the spark was ignited again. Im writing about MLP and other stuff constantly now and just start to sharing here on MLPforums. And the show/ the chars / the world it just have something that helps you to feel better and belive that you can be better, what is it? I dont know but its damn strong Now Im just more happy, not as I wasn't back then but I really feel more like me again, and thats just awesome. Hope to see you arround in the forums and keep that smile up 2 OC's - Colt the Strahl | Earth Miracle | Tales of a Milennium - FanFic Proyect | Excuse my english
FoxyCryptid 4,330 November 6, 2012 Share November 6, 2012 (edited) Here's an entry from an essay I wrote: "Fast-forward to even later and was come to where I realized how much more than just another show and fandom this was. I stumbled upon a sad fic called "A Filly's Final Dream", popped on "Temporary Home" and started reading. I first I only felt a pang of sadness, but it got stronger and stronger until my tears burst out. At fist I cried with the story, but them my thoughts drifted to my sister that passed a few years ago. I had never cried for her, but right then as how much I really missed her set in I cut loose. It felt like a release to let all of it out after all these years. I felt something else too, I felt hope and faith as that part of me was finally let out. It felt like something was telling me it would be okay, that she found her way home. I bet I sound crazy right now saying this about ponies." Beyond that, it's given me drive to be a better artist and writer. Flicker Sweet 3,391 November 6, 2012 Share November 6, 2012 The show hasn't really "helped" me in any way, I don't see how it would. It's just a tv show made for little kids that I happen to enjoy. There's no way (I believe) that a show could really "help" anyone, it may motivate you to do something, but it doesn't physically help you along the way.

Dtox 128 November 6, 2012 Share November 6, 2012 Not really, help is a physical thing. Motivation is purely psychological. In my opinion anyways, I suppose you probably have different ideas...... This actually makes more sense than "help." I've always understood that some people have essentially made themselves a bit better and more positive since getting into the show/fandom, but the word "help" always bothered me in some way. "Motivation," on the other hand, sounds a whole lot better, and I think that's what people mean when MLP "helps" them. It's certainly motivated me to be better about certain things lol. But eh, everyone has different meanings for things.

Yes...It has motivated me, but in a strange way, I thought that would be an understatement. The show has 'motivated' me in greater ways that any physical being ever has. So with the show being more beneficial at that time of need, I thought it deserved the upgrade. Zygen 6,066 November 6, 2012 Share November 6, 2012 Well I can't exactly say the show has really made any huge difference to me that I can say specificlly something about it affected my life. Maybe that will randomly change, or maybe I just don't pay enough attention. Thanks to Gone Airbourne for the awesome sig!
