sampsoninc916 27 November 7, 2012 Share November 7, 2012 Dear All, Disney has bought ABC, ESPN, Marvel, Muppets, Pixar, and Lucasfilm LTD. Now they're in talks to buy Hasbro. I don't think I will ever have a standing chance on this planet in creating family entertainment or making a My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic The Movie. And nobody (nopony) ever talks about My Little Pony when they think of Hasbro. They always bring up Transformers and GI:JOE, and shove My Little Pony into obscurity. Heck, I don't want Disney to take over our US Government. I highly respect Disney as a main influence on my life, and I don't want it to come crashing down by becoming a monopoly. I really don't want this country to go back to laissez-faire like it was back in the late 1800s, when giants like J.D. Rockefeller and Andrew Carnegie had control of an entire industry. Imagine if our President woke up one day and found that he and his party was no longer in control of the United States. Instead, it would be Disney. Everybody (every pony) thinks that Disney would create crossovers with Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Optimus Prime, Iron Man, and Kermit the Frog, when I know the only place they would do that would be in Kingdom Hearts, something I never play. Ever since I became a fan of the show, I've always dreamed of making a MLP: FIM movie. Now, I don't know if I'll ever get the chance, because if (I really mean if) Disney buys Hasbro, MLP:FIM might get a 3D look and a bunch of flatulence jokes and extremely unsubtle pop culture references (the ones on the actual show are very subtle). I like Disney too much for them to take over the world. Could you successful convince a young paranoid man otherwise on this subject, because, much like Twilight Sparkle in Lesson Zero, I'm paranoid right now. Oh, and I don't want Disney to become the only company on Planet Earth that makes family entertainment. Don't want a world like Demolition Man where all fast food restaurants are Taco Bells. Bucky McGillyCuddy 956 November 7, 2012 Share November 7, 2012 (edited) Don't worry, you aren't the only one paranoid about the recent rumors and I also wish Disney would stop buying things. I really really really hope that it doesn't happen but if it does that they let Hasbro keep doing what it's doing, just under Disney colors. Edited November 7, 2012 by Bucky_McGillycuddy If you'd be so kind as to check out some of my drawings, I would really appreciate feedback. http://mlpforums.com/topic/82464-feedback-is-magic/?hl=feedback+is+magic#entry2127254 http://mlpforums.com/topic/82871-what-happens-when-a-pony-fights-a-griffin/?p=2178588
Winona the Dog 1,984 November 7, 2012 Share November 7, 2012 Im pretty sure that Disney wont attempt to become the only source of family entertainment on the planet even since though they did recently buy Lucas and his films hopefully Hasbro wont cave into them because i wouldnt like to see MLP in a 3-D ish format that would ruin most of its charm.
Page Turner 607 November 7, 2012 Share November 7, 2012 Okay, here's my thoughts on the subject: Disney buys Pixar: Nothing changes. Disney Buys Marvel: Marvel gets better. (Avengers anyone?) Disney buys Muppets: Muppets get better. Disney buys Lucasfilm: It's too soon to tell but considering what Lucas did to it this can only be a good thing. Based on the above track record, I see no problem with Disney taking over Hasbro, For the most part, The only thing that changes with a disney take over is that the baught company suddenly has a bigger budget. Disney is generally not stupid enough to screw around with a good thing. plus, we may actually get a good transformers movie. 4 Do you want an awesome thread to visit? Nothing&NoOne 695 November 7, 2012 Share November 7, 2012 Well, Disney bought the Star Wars franchise, so they'll probably buy Hasbro..it wouldn't really surprise me. I wouldn't really mind, as long as they didn't screw with the show in any way. Who knows, Disney might give us accurate show plushes and toys.

Nothing&NoOne 695 November 7, 2012 Share November 7, 2012 and if it does ever happen Celestia = greatest Disney Princess ever LUNA. LUNA IS BEST PRINCESS. I somewhat agree. It'd have its pros and cons, I suppose..though Disney tends to go overboard with a few things.
PonyEcho 1,610 November 7, 2012 Share November 7, 2012 (edited) jimmies be rustled seriously can't post one thing about celestia with out a luna fan stepping in I somewhat agree. DiscordianBeats 28 November 7, 2012 Share November 7, 2012 I don't really know what to think about this whole Disney business. I mean, Disney has brought us some pretty great things...and then there are things that they didn't do so well with *Cough*Disneychannel*cough* I only say that becuase of how God awful the shows on Disney Channel are now, I will still get down with some Kim Possible, or Boy meets world when it's on (Which is usually never on DC anymore). With them buying out everyone, perhaps things will change, perhaps not. Unrelated, Gamestop is considering trying to buy out STEAM, from what I hear.. CloudFyre 848 November 7, 2012 Share November 7, 2012 (Wall of text.) I wouldn't be so worried - it's just a rumor as of right now. Besides, Disney just dumped 4 billion dollars + into the Lucasfilms deal, which should put a bit of a cap on their spending for the moment. Simply put: I believe that we should enjoy what we have for the moment, and cross future bridges when it actually becomes a reality.
AegisReflector 886 November 7, 2012 Share November 7, 2012 Oh boy, it's another one of THOSE topics again.... Like clearly stated above, the companies that Disney has bought have not been altered in any shape or form at all because Disney respects their corporate policies.
sampsoninc916 27 November 7, 2012 Author Share November 7, 2012 I can see what all of you guys are talking about. For young autistic people such as myself, it's pretty simple for us to get worked up over something that isn't even related to the progress of our everyday lives. Heck, there may be a person like me out there who is probably getting a little worked up over Obama getting 4 more years of the presidency just because they're Republican and they don't really agree with ObamaCare. All the companies I have mentioned are pretty much subsidiaries of Disney, much like how Gatorade or Fanta or Mountain Dew may be a subsidiary of Coca-Cola, yet they don't dare call them Gatorade Coke or Fanta Coke or Mountain Dew Coke, because that would mess up their profits. You might find me getting worked up over something not related to me in the future on this forum. Thank gracious for my drug prescriptions, which I'll pick up today. Right now, I'm waiting for some folks to do a little study session with me for Economics, yet I'll still monitor this topic.

Other than that, interesting topic, even though it's been covered a few times. Aureity 3,055 November 7, 2012 Share November 7, 2012 This thread appears to be related to the My Little Pony franchise and/or the Bronydom in general. Thus, it has been sentenced to Sugarcube Corner. This is an automatically generated message, by the way. A lil' Catherine <(^.^)>

AnonBrony 1,468 November 7, 2012 Share November 7, 2012 Just as long as they don't screw around with the show i think it will be only a good thing. Disney is a more experienced company when its comes to T.V. The only downside i see is they might take down the Youtube videos. Which would be devestating to the fandom. If they do buy Hasbro, lets just hope they don't do anything bad. But the deal probably aint gonna be made for a while. So i think we still have a couple seasons 'till then. No need to fret. sampsoninc916 27 November 7, 2012 Author Share November 7, 2012 Disney seems to be on a buying spree as of late. The company is in talks (only in talks) with Hasbro to buy them, and yet they've already bought ABC, ESPN, Pixar, Muppets, Marvel, and LucasFilm Ltd. The fact is that I seem to now know why each of these are owned by Disney, and logical reasons exist for that: ABC: Even back when Walt Disney was alive, he used ABC to broadcast his stuff on that network. ESPN: Don't exactly know why, yet ESPN seems to be operating completely all right on its own. Pixar: Pixar went to Disney to help them distribute Toy Story and their early feature films, so it makes sense for them to be owned by Disney. Muppets: Jim Henson wanted to recreate the magic of When You Wish Upon a Star when he called Paul Williams to write Rainbow Connection. Two Muppet movies before the 2004 buyout were made under Disney. One of the last projects Jim Henson did before he died was a special where The Muppets went to Disney World, and there's a scene featuring Kermit the Frog and Mickey Mouse in the same shot. Marvel: At first I didn't know why they bought Marvel, but now I know why. Disney in recent years seems to be getting a reputation for being a girls brand, so buying Marvel to increase their boy audience because of it made sense, yet even before the launch of the Disney Princess brand, I watched those films, and felt completely fascinated by the craft of the way the animated it, computer or not, which makes me want to go into animation. Lucafilm Ltd: It may have been shocking, but now that I think about it, it shouldn't be. A Star Wars attraction and an Indiana Jones attraction have been at Disney World years before the current buyout, and sometimes before this tween stuff arose on Disney Channel (with the exception of Phineas and Ferb, Gravity Falls, and the upcoming Wander Over Yonder) Disney would air the Star Wars movies on their channels. Oh, I've been to both attractions at Disney World, back in 2002, when I went there with my family. So if (I really mean if) Disney buys Hasbro, it would be for good reasons. Yet all everybody (everypony) talks about is Transformers and GI:JOE when it comes to Hasbro. Disney might focus only on those two brands and focus less on some of the other brands. Guess they don't know a thing about bronies or our fandom yet. They would be in for a serious shock if they do find out. Love to see Bob Iger's face when he finds out.
