Griefing is something I do exorbitantly, not just in TF2 either...

I was in l4d2 earlier and joined about 2 or 3 random servers and starting FFing and jumping off of high shit to kill myself.

 

OT: Anyone have any replays they'd like to share? This one's a personal favorite of mine.

I wouldn't recommend micspamming if it is for reasons to annoy people.

As "fun" as it is because 90% of the players display their lack of knowledge that you can manually mute a player from within the game menu, you're not that much better by pissing them off on purpose.

 

 

Well, I don't do it often, and I know when it's a good idea to stop! It's usually all in good sport anyway! If they start to get annoyed, I stop and wait until another match. Some songs are just so fun to play though!

 

Just out of interest, has anypony got any unusuals? I haven't got any, but, like pretty much everyone else on TF2, I'd really love to someday get a burning Team Captain.

I got a Taunt: The Schadenfreude as a drop on one of my alts recently. I personally have no use for it, but it's worth too much to just hand out like I usually do with stuff like that. I'd be willing to trade it for a couple refined to add to my collection-of-refined-for-stuff pile.

I agree with you, the amount of money people are willing to spend on hats is crazy, though the inflation of buds in trading value I think is just insane! They're not even rare!

Unrelated: It's funny, when I think of it. All the time I've idled on all my accounts, and not a single salvaged. And some people get them before they even know what they are. I mean, why can't one ever drop for me?

So I was bored and went through some of my friend's videos, I found this and thought it was pretty cool.

It kinda baffles me though, that they're just now advertising on TV and stuff. I mean, the game is running on creaky, decrepit code that grows more unstable with each addition. The time to advertise the game was when it was in its prime. 6 years ago. It just seems like a baffling business move. Team Fortress 2 gets an excessive amount of exposure throughout the internet, from threads like this one, and general buzz from the player base. It's not an obscure game. Seems to me that money could have been spent on fixing the game's massive array of balance issues and glitches than advertising that which does not need it.

 

Unrelated: Anybody want any Steam Trading Card beta invites? Got a few laying around and I wouldn't expect anything in return for them. But I'll only give one to you if you actually need it, because taking something somebody gave you to use and selling it would be an asshat thing to do.

To throw in some more TF2 related stories, I've got one for you y'all.

 

A friend of  mine gave me a strange holy mackerel. As I was thanking him for it, he gave me a challenge saying he expected 1000 kills by the end of next week, wanting to be the 1000th himself. So basically, he dared me to reach 999 kills by the end of the next week. Won't matter when he becomes the 1000th, just as long I save it for him.

 

 

I actually did manage to do this by playing a hardcore streak (7 days) on plr_hightower. 

 

 7 days of plr_hightower, fooling around smacking people with a fish with the full equipped Milkman set...

 

Feesh!

That week also made me like the shortstop. So annoyning you become. xP

 

I completed the challenge,

I feesh'd a lot of people,

I learned that the fish crits real much.

 

The feesh is stronk.

Sure does seem that way these days, doesn't it? Valve used to be that awesome company that gave a shit about their customers and fanbase. Now, they're just hell-bent on sucking as much money as they can through TF2 as its carcass rots. I kinda get the impression them releasing that fan-made update a while back was just them testing the waters to see if they can eventually have the community create content for Valve to sell to the community, while they themselves only add the occasional fix for a harmless bug and a localization update for a language only three or four of the players speak. I mean, you can't call out Valve on their bullshit because most of the internet sees them as some kind of messiah, above their competitors' ethics.

I still think Valve is doing there best, since it's hard to keep a game going and keeping on giving updates. You need to give them credit where it's due. They've done a better job than most!

i'm looking for a good but cheap computer to run tf2 and stuff like that on.

i know tf2's (minimum) system requirements are like this:

 

1.7 GHz Processor, 512MB RAM, DirectX® 8.1 level Graphics Card (Requires support for SSE), Windows® 7 (32/64-bit)/Vista/XP

 

...while this one computer i found on ebay has specs like this:

 

Pentium D 3.0 GHz, 3.0 GB RAM (this seller provides an optional 1GB upgrade), Windows 7 Home Premium, 80GB HD, 256MB ATI Raedon HD2400 XT graphics card (with directx 10 support!)

 

i wonder if the below setup will provide decent tf2 gameplay
