Since he had a larger wing span he had taken off abit slower than he would have liked but once he gained speed. Ace looked over at the grope and got in front. "Ok. Ready. Set. GO!" Ace didn't have time to move before everypony flew passed him they went so fast Ace went headfirst into the cloud. Ok that was to much of a disadvantige. Ace quickly got up and took off but he was having troble catching up.

Scamps took off, but apparently it wasn't enough. She only managed to get in second...well, third. Cloud and Esme were in front of her, but just barely. She got a bit nervous, seeing as Ace wasn't in front of her, therefore making her bet look bad. "If he can't win, than I have to," Scamps mumbled to herself as she tried to push her wings to the limit.

Cloud took off as fast as she could once they called go. She got caught up in the rush of the start, but everything cleared as they all got going. Esme was just ahead of her, and Windy on her tail. *C'mon, Cloud, get that 11.33 wing power go inning, up it to good use!*

Star Keeper was satisfied with the condition of his shelves by now. He had spent most of the day reorganizing his material into the appropriate sections and now felt a sense of pride in his work. Of coarse he couldn't have done it without Fluttershy's help. The timid yellow Pegasus was about to sneak out the door when Star quickly glided to her side.

 

"Thanks for all the help today. It makes it easier to have two pairs of wings handy."

 

"Oh, it was nothing, really."

 

"Heh, thanks anyway. So... are you doing anything now?"

 

"Well, I do have to check up on my animal friends. They can get so impatient sometimes, especially Angel."

 

"Oh, that's fine. I wont keep you." With that he opened the door for the yellow mare, until something caught his eye. An envelope, its edge trimmed with gold, slipped from her saddle bag. Star picked it up with his hooves, curiously looking at it. "What's this?

 

"Oh, it's nothing. Just a invitation from the Wonderbolts over some training they wanted me to attend. Nothing I'm interested in." She shied away behind her pink mane as Star Keeper seemed to perk up at the mentioning.

 

"Are you kidding!? This is an excellent opportunity! You should take it while you have the chance."

 

"I couldn't, really. Flying just isn't my thing. You can have it if you want, I mean, if that's okay with you..."

 

"What? I couldn't possibly-"

 

"Star, I insist." She looked at him with a war smile. Star lit up with joy and brought her into a hug.

 

"You're a good friend 'Shy."

 

"You're just saying that."

 

"No, really. Thank you." After they said their goodbyes, Star Keeper was off as fast as he could. The time it said to be there was nearly an hour ago so he would have to move fast. He pushed his wings to their limits as he sped towards the meeting place. He only hoped he wasn't too late.

Esme powered ahead of everypony else, feeling the wind in her mane. "Sorry, Cloud. Try again." She said, letting out a whoop. She couldn't remember the last time that she had felt this alive. As Esme whipped past Cloud, cloud could feel the wind whipping her mane into a big, tangled knot (that sentence was confusing to write, I hope you guys like it). "Oh no you don't!" Cloud called back as she flapped harder, faster, and caught up with Esme. "Don't think you've won yet!

Rainbow Dash was taking one of her routine cloud naps when she heard the whooshing of pegasi soaring through the sky. She opened her eyes and then turned to see the letter of acceptance for the Wonderbolts Training Ground for Elite Fliers. She immediately got up and stretched out her wings and flew to where she saw several other pegasi standing. "Wow! How come you guys started without me? Racers scared they wouldn't stand a chance if I was competing?" She tried to keep her cool, but honestly, she was infuriated with herself at not getting up on time.

"Come on, come on. Nearly there."

 

Star Keeper powered through the air, his knowledge of aerodynamics and flight coming into play, using the wind current and displacement to his advantage. Catching a drift, he let out an almighty burst of energy. He close his eyes for but a second only to find when he opened them a number of pegasi speeding in his direction.Letting out a very unmanly shriek, he folded in his wings, sending him shooting towards the ground just before a collision took place. He tried to extend them again but not before he came smashing onto the ground with a loud thud. He tried to lift his head but collapsed from the fall. The hillside now had a nice silhouette of him plastered in the ground.

 

"I think... I'll just lay here a second... if no pony minds."

Scamps' power surge worked as she flew past Esme and Cloud. "Ha! Take that!" She laughed. Scamps loved competeing. She flew faster than ever, tryin gto hold her lead. She could tell this was a close race; after all, this was the best of the best.

 

"If Ace doesn't win, I'd rather show the Wonderbolts that I'm the best than keep my bits." She mumbled to herself.

Cloud was completely astounded when Ace caught up, and Scamps took the lead. *haha Esme, that what you get for bidding on yourself!* Cloud thought. She kept flying hard, hoping she could find some way to catch up with Scamps.

While Rainbow Dash wasn't one to like being ignored, she was too into the race unfolding in front of her eyes to care. Watching these pegasi who were, like her, handpicked by the Wonderbolts, was too energizing for her to put into words. She noticed a spot where other pegasi had been placing their bets and walked over to it.

 

"If I had to bet on anypony, it'd be on Cloud." She muttered and put two bits down. "It is a real shame nopony gets to see my awesome talent and my 16.3 wingpower put to work, but I guess cheering my Wonderbolts Elite Fliers rival on works too."

Esme was surprised at the change of scene. She powered ahead, and as she flew up next to Cloud Puff, she said, "Cloud, didn't you bet on me? Why are YOU trying to win?" As Dash continued to watch the race unfold, she almost began to think about switching her bet to Esme. She could tell what the pegasus was trying to pull off- a Sonic Rainboom. "I'll have to talk to her about that while we're here..." She murmured. "No, I bet on Cloud Puff for her strength and spirit, and I'm not about to change that. Element of Loyalty and all that."

Draco caught up but only just barely to the mares "Hello beautifull ladies," Draco yelled out as he saw Esme trying to do something. He looked around for something so that he could become scared or to augment his speed. "hmm now where is it a hidden pocket of heat" Draco said more to himself.

By now, Star had just managed to work out which way was up. He staggered to his feet but still felt the strength to fly.

 

"Okay, let's go to the training. I'm pretty sure they've started without me. Now, which way is north, or is it west?" Star shrugged it off, deciding just to head north west instead. This time he decided to slow down, gliding gently on the wind currents, trying not to tire himself out. Pretty soon he had arrived.

 

"Where the buck did everypony go?"

Sounds seemed to echo from the distance. To the south Star Keeper watched as a group of Pegasi shot through the skies at unbelievable speeds. They seemed to be going against the wind; bad idea. None of them would break the sound barrier at this rate.

 

"Hey, I'm Rainbow Dash! Course, you probably already knew that what with my awesome flying skills, right? And I don't really know what's going on either. There's a big race but that's about all I know."

"Good to see you again, although you probably don't remember me. I wouldn't blame you." Star turned to face Rainbow Dash, admiring the unkempt manner she presented herself in. It made her look ruggish, but in a good way. "I'm Star Keeper by the way. Historian by profession."

Draco slowed down so that he could dogde clouds without losing his place in the race. He could see the mares infront of him still all he needed was to catch up. He was alittle winded but he wouldn't give up. He wanted to wing within his very heart but right now he was in fourth out of fifth place.

While Dash was waiting for a response, she turned her head back to the race. She couldn't tell who was who, but she could make out two mares who *looked* like they were trying to break the sound ba--

 

No, that was ridiculous. Nopony besides herself would ever be able to pull that off, right? ...Right? She only hoped she was right.

 

"Good to see you again, although you probably don't remember me. I wouldn't blame you." Star turned to face Rainbow Dash, admiring the unkempt manner she presented herself in. It made her look ruggish, but in a good way. "I'm Star Keeper by the way. Historian by profession."

 

She was snapped out of her worrying thoughts by the colt answering her. "Again? You look kind of familiar, but I don't think I remember you... Hold on... Star Keeper? That really does sound like I know you from somewhere!" She was confused and intrigued by him implying they had met before, although she honestly believed they had. He seemed to darn familiar but she couldn't quite place her hoof on it!

Star chuckled a bit. "I just talk with Fluttershy every now and then when she comes over. She just brings up your name quite a bit. Come to think of it, there seems to be very little else she talks about." Star Keeper looked back to the race. "And don't worry. None of them have what it takes to preform a Sonic Rainboom yet. I think you're safe for now." He gave her a nudge, noticing her attention on the leaders.
