Iron Wing looked with judging eyes upon the pony with the armor who still didn´t tell her his name. The armor looked old, damaged and unfitting. The "nothing-important-guard-stuff" sounded like this pony had guarded objects or buildings. Also the armor had wing cutouts but the pony who was wearing it not. With careful verdicting eyes she looked at the pony and thought about everything for a minute. "This isn´t your armor is it?" she asked straight. "Perhaps you got it from a family member? Hmm..." a pony with an unfitting armor wouldn´t be much of a help in duty. "I am sure we can change the armor for you that it would fit your body shape. The offer for you is nearly the same as for Dawn Blazer. You can join the 7th FDB and live within this tower, but i´ll instruct you with your duties since you seem to lack experience on scouting and patroling duties. Of course this job ensures for you catering, lodging and payment. If you want that, just tell me, nameless one." she explained to the pony who hadn´t introduced himself until now.

 

"Oh yeah, sorry about that, my name is Spiritflame.  And no, it isn't mine, it's my great grandfather's.  I wear it in memory of him and would prefer it not altered any further, however, a set of armor that looked exactly similar to this minus the damage and stuff would be appreciated.  I'd love to accept the offer, I need to increase my knowledge of scouting and patrolling anyways." I'm surprised nopony's noticed aloud my lack of a cutie mark?  Dusk was slightly nervous as he felt that the dragon was keeping watch on him, but visibly kept a normal expression, hiding his nervousness.  Hiding his feelings was one thing as a changeling he decided to learn and train the most, despite his desire to be honest with everypony...

He found it! And it was perfect.  He was going to open up his shop finally!  Purchasing the building took more bits than he expected, but he still had enough leftover to get the shop started up.  It needed a new color, but it was overall in good condition.  He set down his saddlebags inside, locked the door again and skipped gleefully on his way home.  I gotta surprise Angel about this!.

"Well I'd like to see you in action eventually." He took the box to the spare room and set it down. he walked back out to Hunter. "hey sweetie, all this moving has made me tired, why dont we have a lay down?" Rain have a fake yawn."Yeah I'm pretty wiped." He gave Hunter a kiss and lead her to the bed room. When she got in he closed and locked the door. "Do you have the thing form the store?"

"Thats nice to hear from you both. Get into the tower, you can go upstairs in the first floor and choose one of the rooms for each of you. Every room on this floor has everything a pony needs to live, a bed, furniture, a nice window and a bath. The kitchen is in the ground floor, aswell as the living room. We have stocks and ammunition in the basement, also a room for private use like parties. On the second floor you will find my room, a workshop room and a medical station. The hole third floor can be rotated with a mechanic because this is a tactical room. It includes the armory, tactical conference room and the main cannons that can fire in every direction and in a wide angle. Be carefull, the cannons are armed so do not use them without my permission. The fourth and last room is the landing bay. It has an extrendible landing platform, some gear and anti air cannons" she explained the interior of the tower.

 

"Pets are welcome, since i have one myself. So don´t be surprised if a little lynx can be found within the tower. Also there are two friends who visit me frequently. Colt the dragon is a welcome visitor and a citizen of Ponyville. And Blazing Storm, a red mare that uses the guestroom 5 until she gets her own house." she continued. "Feel at home you two. If there are any questions, you can ask me of course." she said. Then she wanted to follow them but she saw that Speedway coming. She turned around and greeted him. "Speedway, i greet you. How can i help you?" she asked him.

Speedway scowled back at Iron Wing. So she had remembered him... well, he could pass it off or something...

 

He was totally caught in the moment, the thrill of braking his usual character filling him.

 

"Quite the popular pony aren't you ma'am." he sneered mockingly at Iron. "Or are these backup troops? They are aren't they... what's wrong, can't handle this two bit town alone?"

 

He felt bad for openly insulting someone who had shown no aggression towards him, but quickly passed it off. Iron was a strong pony, she could handle insults... besides, he needed the practice.

"Thank you."  Dusk said as he went inside to claim a room.  Well, at least there's plenty of weaponry to stop any changelings looking for me.  I doubt they would though, even though I accidentally revealed myself in the last town...  I hope that Iron is a nice mare, she seems pretty nice so far.

Colt drop down the tower landing without making any sound behind the two new visitors, he noticed Iron talking to some other one outside and examinee the new comers with keen eye.

The one Medic was a normal pony but the “unicorn” Colt was unable to say what he was but this “feeling” was not for one of the Pony kind that was for sure. On top of that what he examined with the most interest was the arm7or from the horned one. As he knew and once saw this design but it was too long ago and it could not be part of the new night guard.

“Welcome ponies” the dragon said from behind the unaware visitors with a soft voice to keep screams away.

Yesterday this pony felt sorry for flying too fast and now he insulted Iron Wing after she had been nice to him? And now on a time like this... she got angry with ponies like this one. He had no respect at all! Iron made some menacing heavy hoove steps towards him, standing now threatening before him. "So the little street racer now resorts to petty insults, huh? Showing no respect and affronting me after i was friendly... Thats just low! What has gotten into you? Yes, these ponies are backup to help me to fight monsters, changelings and other threatening creatures. So what, feeling saver now?" she snorted at the pegasus and turned her back to him to enter her watchtower. It wasn´t the insult that disturbed her, it was the fact that yesterday she was all friendly with him and now this was his "payback".

 

She entered the tower and looked around. Spiritflame and Dawn Blazer where already within the tower and looked around and moved into their rooms. Colt showed up and greeted the ponies. Everything looked fine until now except that Colt seemed to observe Spiritflame with a sispicious look on his face. "Hello Colt, nice to see you. Everything alright?" she said while she got near him. Then she turned around again. "Dawn Blazer, you may use the locker 4 in the weapons chamber if you need to. I guess the armor and the equipment stored there would fit you and could be useful for a medic. Spiritflame, you may look into locker 7, i think the armor there could fit with your body meassures. If some changes have to be done on the armor we can use the workshop or you may seek a blacksmith within Ponyville." she said to the two ponies.

 So the dragon has come to speak.  I hope he is always this catious, I don't want to have to leave here so early... And in front of so many ponies, I would be outnumbered if they didn't believe I'm not evil like the other changelings... "Hello, I've never spoken with a dragon before...  So you visit here often?"  I need to find out why he's so... Intent on watching me.  

Spiritflame, you may look into locker 7, i think the armor there could fit with your body meassures. If some changes have to be done on the armor we can use the workshop or you may seek a blacksmith within Ponyville."

The statement of Dawn Blazer surprised the dragon as far as he knew there was not much knowledge on dragon treatment and medicine among the pony kind but inside, the dragon was glad to have a healer close to Iron and in a way also him.

 

"If that is so take good care of me Mr. Blazer, and also keep an eye on Iron she will not admit it but she will need your care" the dragon said with a friendly smile thinking on how good would have been to have him around the day of the storm

 

On the other hand the greet from Spirit Flame was cautious and smart if he was really hiding something by his question he could obtain valuable info and it wasn't too suspicious to give a hint about his nature “Clever” the dragon labeled the supposedly unicorn in his mind. “Yes I like to hang around Iron Wing she is very special to me…” land it, a good answer that would make him know that she was not alone and he would have to be cautious if he was really a threat.

 

 

"Hello Colt, nice to see you. Everything alright?"

 

 

But as he listen to Iron Wing voice entering the tower and calling for him Colt froze “by celestia did she listen to that”? his mind started to overload with possible outcomes ones very ridiculous in fact. He did not noticed the armored Pegasus being so close as he spoke his mind and heart. “Ok dragon chill out don’t break like last night” he regain control of his mind

 

“Hi there Iron good morning… looks like your unit is taking shape” the dragon say to the violet eyed mare feeling goosebumps when their eyes crossed.

 

“Ehem…” Colt took some time to gain guts and ask “...you got plans for today?”

Saphina looked up from her book and spotted the same red mare she saw in the cafe yesterday. her first costumer, for sure. she realized that her water was ready. she put some herbs in the cauldron with her magic and trotted to the mare, "Oh welcome! You're Blazing Storm right? what can I do for you?".

Angel Feather gazed around and then continued writing.  Then she paused and looked up at the trees.  She inspected the way they blew in the wind and then wrote it down in perfect detail to better fit her story.  Angel tapped the pen on her mouth, lost in thought for a moment.

"I think i can prepare your armor later in the workshop. We have enough ressources stored to produce our own weaponry and armor. " Iron Wing replied to Spirit Flame. Then she spoke to both new ponies. "Well, today you can look around, explore everything in Ponyville and settle down a bit. Tomorrow we have a patrol mission to do since i´ve spottet some changeling activity, so get prepared until then. See you later!" she said to both.

Then she turned to Colt. "Good morning Colt! Nice to see you. Yeah, the unit is growing slowly and i like it that way. I can now create a task plan so that i don´t have to do everything now and the tasks are divided fair among the guardians." she said with satisfied look on her face. Finally she got a bit freetime and with the new guards it would be much more fun.

 

“...you got plans for today?”

 

"Well, i have to do a little patrol walk within Ponyville to do, nothing much. After that i have much freetime. If you want you could come with me Colt." she said smiling softly. "Perhaps visiting the cafe on the patrol wouldn´t hurt. I thought i have to fight changelings near Ponyville this morning, but this command was canceled. So let´s go cute dragon!" she said with a grin and left the tower, waiting outside for Colt. Since yesterday she got very aware of her feelings with the dragon around her and she had made her own decision.

"Well, i need a some sort of medicine that help against cramps and relax the muscles... like a cream of herbs or something like that. Also i need some advice how to make a sedation tea that helps me to calm down. I have the problem to be very... spirited and impulsive sometimes, even if i try to sleep. I don´t know much about medicine so i need your help." she explained to Saphina.

Speedway smirked. He'd gotten a rise out of Iron! She didn't really seem to care, but it was a start! So, what next? How to cause some trouble...

With that, Speedway charged along the road, pushing ponies out of his way, before taking off and speeding across the town at head hight. The citizens were forced to jump out of the way indignantly as he flew past.

"Well this should let me move faster if they need help fast. And if I need to get out of a situation fast.."

The dragon was very happy to finally see a smile on Iron Wing and suddenly all around him just went blur, even the scold from Dawn Blazer (ooc sorry that was a typo). It was strange for him and new in every way he felt like only Iron Wing was around and cherished the moment.

The fire breather felt a spark ignite inside his chest that encourage him to answer “Well If you want an escort for such dangerous mission, I can’t deny”   ”   Colt said as smiling without hiding the joy of being around her. 

 

He followed the mare out of the tower, his concerns about Dusk just faded as he continued listening to Iron’s invitation. After all if Iron was safe there was no problem around him. As she spoke about the coffee he thought “Now we can get that breakfast we promised to have before the hospital” , then he got hit by a bolt.

 

So let´s go cute dragon!"

 

He was just walking outside the door the sun just touch his scales giving his first step outside of it as the words of Iron and that particular adjective make him lost composure. The ponty ears on his head flapped a couple of times, his legs lost their strength for a moment and he tripped a little, his eyes opened wide and for sure his face was a portrait of the shock. “The mare you are falling for (quite literal) just ask you out stupid… be a dragon tackle this” were his thoughts recaling Apple Bloom words. 

 

Regaining control and escaping the shameful fall the dragon realized he got a chance, Colt took of his hood and kept on his 2 legs (first time doing so at Ponyville streets) . She gave him confidence and if this was the day to show her his feelings he was going to do it proudly and sincere, no shades to cover behind.

 

He looked into Iron’s eyes and smiled a little  as a reflex of watching those violet eyes. “Lets go ma’am, Ill cover you”

Changeling activity! Damn... Hope it isn't any changelings that recognize me...  If it is they might try to ruin some of the local relationships... If it's my family, well then things would get really out of hoof...  "Alright, thanks.   I'll do my best to be prepared."  I kinda wish I had made up somepony this time... I wouldn't be so easily recognized by other changelings that way...  They're also probably angry that I started that incident in the last town, making changelings have to stay away from there for a while...  Who knows what they'll do if they see me....  He turned to go fetch the armor from the locker.

Indigo could hardly contain himself and nearly entered his house jumping up and down, but wanted to surprise Angel some how.  He walked into the house with a casual expression and approached Angel.  "You look like you had a busy day, would you like to go out to eat tonight?"

Dawn started to put the armor on, first came a pice of light clothing that would cover her whole body to protect it from chafing by the armor. Next came the leg guards and finally the body piece. The weight wasn't anything she wasn't used to, it was light but it would protect her, not as much as Irons would but that had to be compromised for mobility. It also wasn't bulky, it clung to her body outlining her thin frame.

“Well If you want an escort for such dangerous mission, I can’t deny”

 

She giggled a bit with this sentence and started to walk along the streets of Ponyville. Her first patrol point was the library to check if everything was alright. After that she had to go to Sugar Cube Corner and the market place. On the market place was the cafe, the perfect stop to eat something with the dragon. She had a good mood and enjoyed the warm sunlight and the fresh wind that blew through the Town. Since Colt was with her, she felt at ease, safe and comfy. "How was your work today?" she asked Colt. It was always good to start an easy topic. She knew exactly what she wanted to tell the dragon, but she was always thinking about others. Creating an easy topic was more easy for Colt to jump in and start talking.

 

After all the Canterlot Guardians didn´t just learn how to fight or to guard. Speech was an important ability a good guardian should have learned, after all speaking to civilians and settle disputes between them was also a task she had to do. She had the feeling that Colt wanted to say much but didn´t know where to start. Perhaps she was a bit excited by herself since she wanted to tell him some important things... feelings of course. She thought that a silent corner in the cafe was the perfect location for that. She looked at the dragon and his sparkling golden eyes and blushed a bit.

Walking side by side with Iron Wing just felt right. And it would seem that all was just beter with the blue mare on his side. The sun was warm and shiny the sky blue with some clouds that shaped many things he didn’t even care of the ponies around looking at him with strange faces and curious eyes.

 

“Early” the dragon replied “I couldn’t sleep that much and I was on the fields by the time the sun was rising” he said thinking the she was the reason for that. “But that’s why I could finish early and also…I got my first payment” Colt pause for a second. “So today I can take a certain  guardian to have lunch instead of the hospital as promised… well if she is willing to?”  the dragon ended with a question looking over Iron and wating for her answe as getting close to the library.

“So today I can take a certain guardian to have lunch instead of the hospital as promised… well if she is willing to?”

 

She listened to the dragon while reaching the library and Iron looked if everything was alright with this place. She started to walk to Sugar Cube Corner for her next destination on the patrol as Colt invited her for lunch. "That sounds great!" she said with a big smile on her face, her eyes almost shining with the idea to have lunch with the dragon. Colt had just a very good idea in mind and Iron Wing liked it alot. She got happier with every step they had to take together and a strange warm and comforting feeling in her body started to spread. After a short time she started do like this feeling. Was this because of him?

 

She had never felt something like that before. Most of the time she didn´t get too near to stallions because most civilians had too much fear or respect in front of a guardian. But Colt was different since he had experienced something similar. Most stallions also were weak, in their souls or with their body. What mare wanted a partner who couldn´t handle her? But Colt was strong with soul and body and he would not fear her, and she did not fear him. Just perfect!

The patrol, a less stressing way to call this date, was going great “SHE SAID YES !!” were the dragon thoughts as walking towards Sugar Cube corner. He felt exited and that spark in his chest was growing with each step both took.

 

“You know…this mission is going a lot much smother that the last one”, Colt said trying to bring a joke “No storm or thunders or Timber Wolves, instead ”  he paused for a second “just the perfect company ”.  Once again his voice betrayed his mind speaking by itself but showing just the truth inside his heart.

 

He turn to watch her reaction and perceived a glint inside her eyes and an exalt in her soul, he realized how beautiful those violet eyes were and for a second brought him memories of those bougainvilleas that rejoiced his young years. Colt surely blush as he saw himself in the reflection of those eyes and felt inside them making his heart to surrender.
