*SPOILERS* Trixe appears to be under the influence... of a third, unknown Alicorn!

It would seem that Trixie has exponentially increased her power by learning Dark Magic from an unknown mentor, one that is NOT Sombra.

 

As you can see, the brooch on Trixie's cloak contains the likeness of an Alicorn. Based off of its facial structure, it would appear to be male. So many implications here!

 

Things are about to get real interesting around Ponyville, real soon. Like I've previously stated, I think what goes down in this episode will be that catalyst for Twilight's training in the Dark Arts, and her eventual corruption in the season finale.

 

I can't wait to see how this all plays out!

Anyway, aren't there already 3 known Alicorns? Celestia, Luna, and Cadence. So I think there would be a fourth Alicorn. I'm cool with this. I like them.

I think it has to do with the wings on the brooch as well as a horn.  Sombra may have been able to fly, but I don't believe that he had wings.  Then again, Sombra could have easily just decided, "Well I'm immortal and have near god-level powers, so I'm too good to be just a boring unicorn.  All art that is made in my honor shall depict me as an alicorn, because I'm awesome."

I don't think that it's King Sombra.  Let's make inferences based purely on colour scheme for the time being.

 

That amulet is black and red.  All colours associated with Sombra thus far have been deep grey/black, green, and purple.  That already pulls away from the King Sombra theory.

 

Now, let's look at the shape of the amulet.  It's very sharp and angular, but it's pretty much symmetrical.  King Sombra's "style," for lack of a better word, is much more . . . jagged, rugged, not so clean.  It just doesn't radiate the presence of King Sombra, you know?

 

Plus, the brooch features what seems to be a slim alicorn, who I would imagine to be taller as well.  Sombra was . . . more burly.  I know that a brooch may not be made to be exact, but, as I said before, it just doesn't look like it's associated with Sombra.

 

And bringing back Sombra like this just does not seem very logical.  It wouldn't exactly fit.

Who's to say it's a 3rd, 4th really, alicorn that is unknown? Perhaps it was an amulet created by a unicorn to boost his/her powers to that of the level of an alicorn.  Also, it does bring up the question of how long before Luna was actually imprisoned by her sister.  Did she immediately transform in Canterlot with Celestia witnessing it? Or was there a period of time that Luna/Nightmare Moon was wandering around Equestria?  That amulet could be a relic of the past, a creation of Nightmare Moon.

Maybe she is not under control, maybe she choose to be this way. It could be because she wanted to beat Twilight for once, so she would anything just to beat her and be better than her. And I guess that meant learning dark magic.  <_<
