Bright Spark would have jumped back, but there was nowhere to go. They had found him and now he would pay. He was too scared to look this pony in the eye, which his own were closed. "no! please! let them live! let my parents live! THE PAIN! I can hear it, the children, their laughing! Laughing and mocking their death." he fell back to the floor. "please, stop the pain."

Rose watched Spark shuddering on the floor, screaming. Stacy had been right. It was quite horrible to have to watch somepony's madness... She thought she knew a way to draw him back... But Stacy wouldn't like it.... She glanced towards the mare, as if asking for permission...

Stacy knew what was coming, what Rose was going to do. She flattened her ears to her head and nodded, letting Rose know that she understood. Stacy walked away from Spark and turned away. She didnt want to watch but at the same time she wanted to make sure Spark was ok.

Looking after Stacy, Rose's ears went back, and she murmured, "I'm sorry," before leaning down close to where Spark lay huddled on the floor.

 

His eyes were closed tightly, and she could see tears leaking from between the firmly closed shutters that hid them. She took a deep breath... As if bracing herself...

I SAW YOU DIE! you- you hung yourself, an- and ponyville, Just one big factory! and the- they were all slaves. to me!" he had fallen into tears "no beuty, no nature, just CLOUDS OF SMOG. all exept you, and your mechanical flowers. I saw it, you had lost it for the last time. you cant be alive, because i watched you die.... "

Bright Spark could now see rose, who was dead. Not to him, but actually dead.

Somehow, Spark's denial gave Rose strength. His assertion that she was no longer alive gave her the reason she needed... She leaned in and kissed him. Slowly and passionately. She broke from him, not wanting to draw out the kiss, since Stacy was in the room, and asked, smiling, "If I were dead, could I have just done that?"

Stacy listened as Spark continued to rant about how Rose was supposed to be dead. Then it grew quiet...to quiet. And her heart sank as she knew Rose had done what she didnt want her to do, and she felt angry for some reason. She felt like she had been betrayed by Rose, that Rose didnt care for her. She knew those wernt true but it still felt that way. Stacy took in a breath as she had forgotten to breath for a moment. She turned around and saw the twos lips locked. Stacy quickly turned back around as a tear ran down her cheek, then it became a soft cry, trying to muffle the sound so Rose wouldnt hear.

Bright Spark was having a hard time beliving it. she was dead, and yet, that had happend. Surley, he had just gone crazy?

He saw that the other mare was turned away. He crawled over to her. "wait. Please dont be like this, i dont need any more of this in my sorry life."

When Somber sat up Star jumped but quickly put her wing around his back. "Somber...Are you ok. You were on the ground muttering about the zebras...Thats all over, We are home, We have docked Conterlot is just a half hour carriage ride away, Then we can go home." She wiped the tears off his face and hugged him tightly.

Rose looked around, and saw Stacy, now crying too, sitting in the corner. She had warned her... But Rose really hoped that her decision to try and help Spark in this manner... hadn't chosen her somepony for her...

 

Really, these ponies were being more trouble than they were worth. Rose had gotten along fine without a special somepony. What made her need one now?

 

Well, the answer was obvious, she was lonely. But... She shouldn't have to have to go through all of this. 

 

"Stacy..." Rose said softly, not betraying even a hint of her annoyance in her voice.

Stacy hear Rose say her name, she was obviously annoyed. "Yeah, just give me a second." She said through the light sobs. She then sucked in a deep breath and made herself stop crying, then turned around to face the two ponies in front of her. Sparks face looked sad and tormented while Roses was annoyed...probably because of Stacy. Stacy sat down and nodded as she was ready...

Bright Spark could see that this mare, wasn't her name stacy? Anyway, it appeared that she was mad at him, and he could'nt help but feel pity for her. It was the fact that her impatience and anger would always get the best of her. Nonetheless, bright spark went back to his corner.

"im sorry for everything i had done today. It's just that i have never had a nightmare, because i have never needed to. Every fear that i have had i ploughed through. my parents deaths, the orphanage. The laughing of the children. I just went on with it. But it was after i found you, rose, when that changed. It was the fear of losing you, in any way, that caused this. And it was that which also caused all this pain. im sorry for today. You can choose stacy now."

Rose flinched at Spark's confessions. And the fact that he had thought nature dead with her, and had been bawling over it... She looked sadly at Spark, then to Stacy. "No, I'm sorry. I did this to you by making you wait so long. You're both wonderful, I wouldn't deserve either of you." She looked down at the floor. Now was the time... The time to choose. 

 

"Spark, could you stay for a moment longer? I need to think about something."

Bright Spark sighed, but did'nt move from the corner. If they were so close to home, and this was the last time they could talk, then what rose was about to say could only be one thing. And it was only now did he realise he did not want to hear what was coming next. Even if it was good, He would feel guilty for stacy. And if it was good for stacy rather than him, then he could go back into his crazy self. All things considerd he just sat back down to listen.

Rose thought furiously, allowing silence to engulf them all. They could probably hear the cogs whirling inside her head...

 

Spark... So sweet. So delicate. She remembered the butterflies she had felt every time she had kissed him. She was not sure how compatible they would be, but he obviously cared, if she thought about his breakdown. He had screamed about how nature had gone, and how she had gone... Stacy just wasn't the same. Sure, they spent a lot of time together, and Rose hoped that wouldn't change, but Luna's and Star's advice still rang with her. "Follow your heart..." And her heart had finally chosen...

 

Rose looked sadly at Stacy, steeling herself, and she hoped, truly hoped, that Stacy would consent to remain her friend...

 

"Stacy... You've done a lot for me... And I'll never forget that... But my heart has chosen... I'm sorry." Tears were threatening to overwhelm her. She was convinced Stacy wouldn't want anything more to do with her. "Can we still be friends? I couldn't bear to lose you..."

 

 (OOC: Sorry, Marathon.   Rose would probably not be opposed to coming back to you if something happened between her and Spark and they split.)

Stacys heart dropped. After everything she had done for Rose! Stacy shook her head in disbelief. She didnt know what to do as tears welled up in her eyes. She ran out of the room crying, went back to her room and collected her saddle bag and rushed out. Stacy noticed that they had docked. Seeing her chance to escape she quickly made for the first carriage and headed into Canterlot. After which she jumped on a train back to ponyville...

 

 

After a few hours riding the train, it stopped at Ponyville and Stacy quickly got off. She was relieved that Hop wasnt waiting for her and made her way home.

 

Upon reaching her house she quickly entered not bothering to say hello to her mother, who happened to be sitting on the couch. She called out, "Stacy? Stacy what wrong."

But Stacy didnt answer. SHe just went to her room, packed some money into her saddle bag and left the house. Stacy began to leave ponyville but stopped by Roses house. When she got there she opened Roses mail box and gently placed her ocarina inside it, then closed the box. She then plucked one of the small red roses from the garden and looked at it, then placed it behind her ear. Rose was hers, and always will be to her...no matter what. Stacy gave the small hut one last look before she finally left ponyville, to travle through Equestria.

Bright Spark stared at rose with a look of pure happines. The tears that coverd his face had turned from guilt and sorrow to joy. "you- you really mean it? you really...?" He ran over to hug Rose. "thank you! oh thank you!" he was now crying, tears of joy instead. He then went to kiss her, on the mouth. But he still aknowladged Stacy had left, and after watching her leave, had noticed they had docked. he looked back to rose, still happy after what he had been told, and yet guilty. He sighed.

"this is what i feared. If you still want that little time alone, then i am fine with that.

Rose looked out the door, after Stacy, a look of pure shock on her face. That... could not have gone worse. The tears that had been so threatening before, now poured shamelessly down her face. She had just pushed away one of the best friends life had ever given to her... It had taken her this long to realise... That Stacy was just her friend... The one friend she had waited her whole life for... She looked to Spark, hoping for comfort.

Bright Spark looked back to rose, who was crying. alot. He knew he would have to confort her, and so went over to Rose. He hugged her, giving her a body to lean on and cry. He rubbed her mane, "it's alright. She will realise how you feel and forget her anger."

That volcano was going to erupt whether we went to the island or not...There was nothing we could do." She hugged him tighter and let the tears pour down her cheeks.

Rose hiccuped, and wiped the tears away. "I hope so," she said. She got up, and intertwined her tail with Spark's, and emerged from the room, her eyes still red and puffy, and made to disembark. She looked sadly at Spark, and kissed him. The butterflies returned, partially lifting her mood. She looked him straight in the eyes, and said, hesitantly, "Stay with me."

"Somber I...I'm so sorry *Sob* I wish there was something I could have done...But I just screwed everything up, You told us all not to talk to the zebras and we did anyway. Its my fault."  Star lay her head on his shoulder and wiped the tears from her eyes. "Lets go home."

Soon enough, Firecracker and Moonbeam had docked at Canterlot, they would then have to take a train to get back to their home, Ponyville. "Finally, I'm home again practically!" he said out loud. They then had boarded the train the moment it was about to take off.
