80 miles per gallon is terrible milage compared to some designs out there. (80 mpg =~ 34 km/L) Or at least I think so. Aren't there designs out there that do more than double that easily?

Well, current models such as the Prius brag 60 MPG, however, this is only when the electric engine is on, which only activates at speeds slower than 25 MPH. This model being purely electric would get 80 MPG, because the diesel engine would only activate when electricity is low.

And yes, there are some gas models that legitimately get 100 MPG, but its more like driving a chemistry lab than a car. There is only one seat for a driver, and the rest of the car is the engine.

Diesel needs to become much more dominant here in the states but overall we need to stop using current fuels. I've seen the stuff about cars that run off water or air, but these innovations get blocked by oil companies and auto makers from ever seeing light until they can profit off them. Batteries are not a viable solution either until they become much much more efficient and not so quick to need charged and replaced.

Yes, there are designs for water powered and air powered cars. The trick with these is not that oil companies are blocking them, but rather they are simply to expensive to build, or they are not safe enough for consumer use. In the case of a Hydrogen cell car, they have the potential to be... explosive.

Also, the air powered car had a few design flaws. Because it ran on compressed air, it could not travel a far distance for long. The air car would still need an engine of some sort to compress the air down to get enough power as well.

I don't really plan on buying a car until the one I currently have breaks down, since it is payed off I won't sell it ether. Though if I saw a car with 80 miles per tank, I wouldn't get it. (Unless a Lamborghini, but you don't get those at 10,000)

I would happily buy a diesel car, but the good ol' EPA forced auto manufacturers to move away for catalyitic converters for their diesel vehicles and use Diesel Exhaust Fluid which consists of water and Urea. Yes, that Urea, albeit more pure. Hybrids are horribly inefficient for what they are and I'm not too keen on driving a dual powertrain car whether it uses batteries or in your case, ultra capacitors. Hopefully some new battery tech will finally make its way out of the academic world in a few years. Energy storage has pretty much been at a standstill since Lithium Ions hit the streets and its high time we get something that can hold a large charge and be recharged quickly as current batteries are either one or the other. If Elon Musk has anything to say about it, I don't think it'll take too long.

I can neither confirm nor deny myself being the cause of electrical related malfunctions. Anyways, you wouldn't happen to have a jar of replacement magic smoke would you?

In my honest opinion.

My dad has a Toyota Prius in his used car dealer. Its a 2005 I think, its a hybird.

And I've seen it, hybrids are one scary cars for me....and are hardest cars to operate for my dad ;P

Damn, 80 MPG is quite a bit.

Although the car I have my eyes on is not THAT much of a gas saver.

I'll show you the car I want:

Indeed... Ford GT90.

The best car I've seen in my life. And the only considerable super-car Ford has created.

I am considering in acquiring this car... But not sure if it is worth making Ford produce only one car just for me...
