Leafeon 2,702 December 27, 2012 Share December 27, 2012 (edited) Recently, I've been trying to draw in different styles. So, I would like opinions on the different styles. New style: This is being a pain. Have a link. Old Style: Please try to judge mainly on styles and not the actual image (Seeing as nothing is really happening in the first one). Thanks. PonyPowaX1000 69 December 27, 2012 Share December 27, 2012 (edited) I like both . Both of them are done really well. Style 1 is similar to the show's art style but with more shading. Style 2 is also similar to the show but with your own twist on it. Yeah I prefer style 2 more for some reason. I wish I could draw like you.... Dusty Soul 2,611 December 27, 2012 Share December 27, 2012 I prefer the second one, it seems more shiny. The first style is about like the shows but with more shading and the second looks like show, but with a more shiny edge to it. I have to say the second one works. Oh, Nice drawings BTW Soundcloud-------------------Facebook---------------------------Youtube
Flaret 240 December 27, 2012 Share December 27, 2012 I'll have to say the second one. The first one has more shading, yes, but it doesn't work very well on a flat figure without lines. If you're going lineless it will usually only look good if you paint, only shading probably won't do it. I like your style in the second one. Throwaway19573639385 764 December 27, 2012 Share December 27, 2012 While your old style is most certainly is closer to the show I'd have to go with your newer style, it's a step forward compared to the older one. Although there would be one thing I'd like to add and that is that the new style does leave some details behind that perhaps are one of the key elements in showing emotions. Mainly the mouth has been put a bit too much in the background. While this is a great technique if you want to let the viewers be focused on other details, the mouth is still important for facial expressions. If ya keep that in mind everything should be a-ok. ~Lawful Jordo~ 2,066 December 27, 2012 Share December 27, 2012 (edited) They are both quite nice. I've never been too big on gradient shading, but it works well here. I like them both, but for whatever reason I like the first piece a little more. Strawberry Tart 161 December 27, 2012 Share December 27, 2012 I personally like style number two. I'm not sure why that is. But I like it better. (Maybe it's because it's more cartoony or something?) Jessper 735 December 27, 2012 Share December 27, 2012 Definitely the old style (the Pinkie one). I'm not saying the new one is bad, it just doesn't fit ponies at all in my humble opinion.
Concord 1,982 December 27, 2012 Share December 27, 2012 And i am going to have to go with the Old style, just simply, because it has more show elements to it. The new style is awesome, even though the hind legs look a little weird (The part where the hip/flank joins the rest of the leg). Good luck on your future projects open a request thread already! xD Thank you MatrixChicken for the Signature!

Seems like the old version is the favorite but the shading for lineless is a bit better. I'll have to do both for now, until I find a style that I really like. 1 Eeveelutions: @Vaporeon: N-Harmonia : Ampharos @Flareon: Descant/Bard @Espeon: Locked @Umbreon: Lhee @Leafeon: Firebolt @Glaceon: Mal @Sylveon: Don'tDropThatDedenne
Concord Discord 35 June 10, 2013 Share June 10, 2013 Definitely the old one. It just looks so much nicer. (Or maybe that's my OCD talking?) Anywho, I thought the second didn't look much like the show, and found it a bit wierd. Life is like an MMORPG, but with fewer fantasy weapons and more soul-crushing nihilistic despair that visits when you least need it. Crummy OCs that I made years ago (thou hast been warned): Main protagonist OC: Golden TyphoonThe professional assassin: Curse of Shadows Avatar by The Incredible Blitz!
