Same diffidence to me,

One the others, I just don't like really dark or violent stuff when it comes to music, I just don't get enjoyment out of it.

They were all interesting, but I really loved the last two, thanks for linking them. Got anymore music like that laying around anywhere?

Oh I see... I'm a big fan of dark music. Weather it's Nine Inch Nails, The Smiths, Joy Division or Burzum. Especially, The Smiths when I'm feeling kinda down.

Well I figured maybe he's like "The Queen Is Dead", "Loveless" or "Doolittle". But his profile did say that he like Megadeth and the Foo Fighters so I didn't know what to do.

I have like one Song from Megadeth, and it's a balled, same for Foo Fighters. You may want to actually look at what songs I have, rather then just the bands themselves.

Probably already heard it, but worth a shot.

Sandstorm- Darude

Actually that last song was from Buckethead's Electric Tears album, all of it's songs are like that.

It's all good. And yeah, I didn't have a lot of common artists so it's kinda hard to get those recommendations.

And yeah, Warbringer is some good modern thrash! I mostly like their 2011 album, but their older stuff is cool too.

Warbringer along with Skeletonwitch are proof that metal is far from dead in America. I need more modern bands like them to listen too. :/

Oh my bad. Usually when I decide I "like" a band it means I like one or albums by that band. Also I haven't used last FM in AGES. I got sick of using the radio and decided to look for music on my own.

You mean on Last.FM? Tag in what why, I haven't used the main website it self much aside from downloading the tools to keep my profile updated.

Yeah, tagging. You can tag bands/albums/tracks with anything you want, but most people do that for genres. I personally do it to keep tabs on what genres I like, and if you want to use artistic page resources like tag clouds or anything, you'll need things tabbed. I tag only bands, to see how totally not-diverse my taste is, and what I need to expand on and all that.

Is it wrong to say I haven't gotten much into Skeletonwitch? I should probably throw some more time into listening to them. And since you like some black metal, have you heard of Abigail Williams and Wolves in the Throne Room? Two very good bands of American Black Metal, which is supposed to be dead.

I'll have to check them out since most of them black metal I like is either first wave or part of the Norwegian scene. As for Skeletonwitch, Forever Abomination is the album that got me into them.

The site lists artists based on listens, so if you wear one song out, it can make you profile look misleading.

IDK if this is the type of music you would like, but perhaps LIndsey Stirling, seeing as her music appeals to both the dubstep lover and the classical instrumentation lover.

Not a big fan of Dubstep, at all.

My problem is, I suck at identifying Rock/Alr genres properly. Any tips?

By the music you like, you could try...

Evanescence - Save Me From The Dark

The Offspring - Kids Aren't Alright

Also look at brony music from the Living Tombstone, Wooden Toaster...

I have my own playlist for pony music so PM me if you're interested  :)

Oh I see. Another reason why I don't use Last FM anymore. lol.

Identifying different subgenres is easy. You just have to listen to one subgenre a lot and then you'll be familiar with the way it sounds.

i've listened to a fair share of stuff myself, so i have far too much to recommend. i'm just gonna take a out-of-the-blue guess here and see if any of this might appeal to you:

Those were actually both really relaxing for some reason, I kind like them, even if the first one abused autotune a little bit.

Renard loves vocal processing, so he tends to do it on every track he does that features vocals, most notably when he, himself sings (like in that video)

.

i've got some more relaxing music if you want, though, do you like high-energy music, as well? i've got a fair share of it, ranging from electronic to metal and more.

Yeah, as long as it's not to heavy on artificial base booms, I'm actually quite found of this band embarrassingly enough when it comes to Metal/Rock:

I also like like stuff like this if you mean a little more electronic, it's somewhere in the middle on, it's kinda laid back, but still upbeat:

hmm, while the second one isn't exactly like this, you may want to look into some synthpop:

the song from the first video is from a synthpop trio my Swedish teacher actually is the wife to one of its members. she gave me the album one day before school ended this period, because she said that his husband dreams to be able to live on his own music, so she gave me this album, because i talked to her a lot about music beforehand, as a reminder, not to give up on my dreams.

i'm gonna get her a gift when school begins again.
