writing Lost (poem)

This is an elegy that i wrote for a creative writing project. I wrote itit intentionally vague and general sosthat it could apply to many individuals, but I dedicated it to my grandmother who passed away several years ago. As always, comments are greatly appreciated.

 

"Lost"

 

You were a beacon above,
A guiding star for me,
But now that you are gone,

I'm lost in misery

It's hard to see the beauty 
In either bird or tree
Without your knowing presence

Standing beside me.

The rain falls slower,

glimmering from above
Now that you have died
And taken all my love.

I'll try to put together the pieces,
I'll keep on moving on,
But it will not be the same for me

Now that you are gone.

Is it just me or is this poem sad? Not sad in a kind of way that it would be bad because that's not what I meant. The poem is GREAT although I think it's sad but still GREAT Well great isn't good enough...how about AWESOME? That works? Anyway, amazing job as usual
