I don't watch this show, but a page on facebook posted this and I thought is was cool how mature they handled it, the suit even works by adding a "don't judge a book by it's cover" message

To be honest I don't know about the positive aspect towards it, I mean they still made it look kinda laughable in a sense because of the fact that the crowd laugh effect plays everytime the brony guy mentions something about being a brony or what a brony is about and stuff, it doesn't even seem to end with her accepting it.

I've never watched this show btw, but thats just my analysis of the clip.

At best I'd think its neutral, but it doesn't seem positive in my eyes. Maybe I'm just interpreting it wrong, but it feels more like laughs directed at bronies then actually telling people to accept them.

Its kinda that whole OH YOU CAN"T BE SERIOUS feel of laughter to it. It may be just me but it almost felt as if it was more directed at insulting bronies honestly.

I'm not actually insulted myself by it, but the whole feel of the clip makes me feel that they're laughing at bronies and trying to be insulting about it.

I've been waiting for a sitcom to say something about bronies, and they pulled it off very well.  It had me laughing, and it was handled very mature.  Also, Prince Silver Saddle is best pony.

It's a comedy show, what do you expect? xD

Honestly I wasn't expecting outright names. I was expecting a semi-vague reference, but wow, that's very interesting that they went all the way.

A sitcom that doesn't poke fun at things isn't really a sitcom. I think he referred more to the fact they didn't take the whole "It's a show for little girls" route when talking to them.

This is how to make fun of the brony community in a positive way.  I mean look, they made fun of us.  But take the positives out of it.  The man is obviously a competent character, and he just so happens to be a fan of MLP.  He even gave quality reasons for liking the show.  Sure, the woman wasn't too enthusiastic about it, but his defense was well-thought out and mature.

Nice job Hot in Cleveland.

Laughter doesn't alway's mean ridicule, I think they were going more for showing it's just harmless and silly fun at it's heart. You'll also noticed they seemed to intentionally make the girl look dickish.

Yeah I understand the whole nature of sitcoms aren't going to be like welcoming things with open arms, still that doesn't exactly make me feel as its a supportive type of thing. I didn't expect the whole Brony subject being brought up though. I suppose that compared to alot of things they handled it pretty well, still I don't feel like it was my definition of a Positive shoutout. It was positive by sitcom standereds, but overall it was kinda on the positive side of neutral for me.

I'm probably just being really pick though. I guess for a sitcom they where pretty supprisingly supportive, just not in the overall picture for me.

Pretty sure I'm just really picky though :P.

Honestly I wasn't expecting outright names. I was expecting a semi-vague reference, but wow, that's very interesting that they went all the way.

Suppose so :P, And I agree I wasn't expecting them to go all the way and reference the show flat out, was a pretty big move on their part, I guess it was a risky move in one way actually.

Like I said before, I think I'm just being picky and over analyzing. Obviously they won't be supporting the show outright.

You have a good point actually. I don't watch the show so it is a bit hard to totally grasp the situation seeing as I don't know the characters very well.

I think I'm just over analyzing and expecting a bit to much maybe, my interpretation is a bit deep I guess, or maybe just to critical.

It is pretty cool that they flat out stated stuff in the show.

ps. Silversaddle is an awesome name for a pony :D.

I bet my ass Betty White ordered this reference

In all honesty, I laughed my frickin' ass off.

Finally a show (that I actually watch) makes a positive remark about us (bronies).

TBH, when Joy screamed in the elevator I thought she was gonna flip shit and spew out lies about us.

I think this can still be positive, because they made fun of him in a gentle, normal, positive way. Just like you would make fun of someone in a friendly way for something else normal. I also love the detail they put into referencing, I wasn't expecting him to talk about Equestria.

It's quite apparent also that this character is already well established and well liked. I think it also helps that the actor who plays him is relatively good looking. Anybody can be a brony.

Is Hot in Cleveland any good?  I've never heard of it until now, so may just be willing to give it a chance.

I found this scene incredibly funny because it was completely neutral, plus it presented both characters acting reasonable and their actions understandable.  If the show's writing is this funny then I will definitely try it out.

It is merely an obviously true statement that the average Brony never has and never will wear a fursuit.

I'm just going to take this opportunity to mention that...the fursuits, I reckon it should make sense to call them fundamentally incorrect to make for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic ponies, because their cuteness lies in them not walking around standing up.

Anthropomorphism is explicitly like the main theme of the fandoms/subculture that are used for fursuits, which is not a thing in the show. Friendship is Magic is notably less anthro than the previous generations.

Even cosplaying as a human with pony hair, dressed in their colors, is better, because you are portraying a human version, not an upright pony version.

Plus the faces on those heads have no emotion, they don't move.

Also, what Prince Silversaddle? They recited the entire title, but didn't depict a real character? Apparently directly referencing verbally is not iffy, but showing is iffy, even if it is not official art?

Hilarious! I've watched this show with my brother once or twice, but I didn't know that they referred to bronies in it. :D

Personally, I think that it was nicely and positively done, as it's seen as just another thing that makes him quirky, and not one that makes him "gross".

My guess is that they just needed a prince and didn't want to use Blue Blood, being hated as he is, and Shining Armor being a prince didn't click.

Haha!

Finally, a fun comedy scene to watch where people don't make bronies look like pedophiles. I expected a lot of hate, but this was well-done. It showed respect for both sides, and I can tell that they support bronies. Thanks for sharing, cool little clip. Bronies are growing more popular by the day it seems!

But hey, it was reasonable, and it made me chuckle. The show is acting neutral towards both sides, so it's all fair.

Funny and informative! I loved how he just explained us and how they didn't just make fun of us in the way that we're weird creepy.  :)

I was expecting the audience to go "Aaaaaaawwwww!" after 1:06 for some reason, though....
