Christian bronies: meet, greet, and mingle!

So, in the spirit of the thread's new name, let me ask you all a topical question: what's your favorite bible verse? I'll start! Mine's Galatians 5:1: "Christ has liberated us to be free. Stand firm then and don’t submit again to a yoke of slavery."

Ooh! So many choices, and such riches aplenty. I have quite a few of them, but they aren't limited to this list.

Mark 10:17-22 ("Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?")

John 6:35 (The entire Bread of Life discourse.)

John 8:1-11 (The woman caught in adultery.)

Luke 6:20 (The Sermon on the Plain.)

Romans 8:18-25 (Creation delivered from sin.)

1 Corinthians 13 (Love as the greatest gift.)

Philippians 2:6-11 (Paul's hymn.)

The Letter to Philemon (Not technically a verse, but still one of my favorite letters.)

Hebrews 12:1-3 (Christ as the pioneer of faith, the one whom we should imitate.)

James 3:14-26 (Faith and works.)

1 John 4:7-12 (God is love, and His love is perfected in us.)

Revelation 12:1-6 (The woman clothed with the sun, the moon at her feet, and crowned with twelve stars.)

I'd also like to add to the list the raising of Lazarus in the Fourth Gospel, as it is one of the most moving moments in the whole of the New Testament.

Domine, tu omnia nosti, tu scis quia amo te.

Why is that? I'm not critiquing you, I'm just curious.

While I am a thorough believer; not even the wisdom of the bible can keep me from boredom. Never mind the fact I practically squirm when surrounded by rows of people. Besides, I haven't been to church for almost ten years now I think.

Fair enough.

I need it in a lot of ways though. If I go to long without going to Church, I almost feel "unclean." Mass is always such a warm and welcoming atmosphere to me.

Guys, please remember to be respectful of one another in this thread.  This isn't a thread to debate or put down other religions, it's a place to talk with your fellow Christian bronies about your common beliefs in a safe setting.  Posts in here should be respectful to all Christian faiths to allow people to socialize without having to defend their religion.  Please keep this in mind in the future.

Also, this thread is being moved to General Discussion... I honestly have no idea why this has never been moved from Sugarcube Corner.  SC is more appropriate for threads actually discussing the brony fandom or MLP itself, not simply a thread for bronies with some unrelated common interest.

Ya know... I gotta say, as an outsider to the religion (I guess) this thread is pretty interesting I guess. Don't think I'll convert from atheism to Christianity any time soon (especially since I've built my lifestyle around not having to go to church every Sunday, among other things) but, to each their own.

Interesting in what way? Also, it's worth noting that some denominations reject the practice of sunday church, and you always could be non denominational if you wanted to be. Not trying to convert you at all, just thought it would be worth saying.

Interesting in the sense that I'm seeing how other people think, instead of how I do, being that I'm an atheist and haven't been with religion in my life since... forever ago. And didn't know that, actually.

Being open-minded about the opinions and thoughts of other's beliefs? I approve.

Mind you, I'm not the biggest fan of religion ever. But I won't bring hate here.

Fair enough. Your open-mindedness is a quality to be admired, regardless.

To answer about favorite verses, I like the First Letter to the Corinthian Church, 10:13---it's about God's faithfulness in the area of temptation.

You know there are other religions besides Christianity.  :wat:

I mean, Judaism, Hinduism, Taoism, Satanism, Helenism, Zorastrianism, Animism, Wicca, I could go on for awhile. My only point is religion =/= Christianity nor vice versa.

I appreciate the sentiment of respect, but did you have a different idea of us before looking upon this thread?

I am well-aware of that!

As for that second part, no, I didn't really have a different idea of you guys before looking upon this thread. While the majority of my friends are atheist, I do have a few Christian friends (and then this one Muslim friend) and don't think down upon them because they believe in things I don't.

You really have nothing to lose. Life is better with christianity than without. And if it isn't, talk about it.

Indeed it is to be. It's better to have an open mind than a closed one.

wise words.

Oh that wasn't a challenge or insult, if the exclamation point is meant to express anger or exasperation. My apologies if it seemed that way.

I was just curious if you had an initial impression that was changed. That's not the case clearly.

Our faith just might not be for some people.

Do you have to be Christian, to be like Christ?

Really, things like faith aren't for everyone, and I do have something to lose - my lifestyle, since I've built it around a lack of religion.

And I apologize if I made you think that my response to your question made you think that it was a challenge or insult.

Hasn't been the case for at least a decade now.

That's sort of the point of it.

Exactly! Christian morals are things like the Golden Rule, they're for the most part universal. I certainly can name some atheists on this very Forum that are better Christians than actual self-described Christians.

These are exactly my thoughts.  As I've said elsewhere on the thread guys, I appreciate discussion, but let's keep any hardcore discussion out of this particular thread.  This is meant to be a relaxed place, not a place to interrogate others.  Thank you!
