Coco didn't expect that.

"Group on a prom.. what?"

"Thanks for the offering, it's true that nopony asked me to go with them.. surprisingly." she grinned with irony. "But I don't know if I can go.. I don't even know when the prom is... And to be honest, I don't feel like being the fifth wheel.." her sight skipped from Diamond to Nightfall and back. Looking from the bottom on those two alicorns, she felt so small.

Coco could hear that something behind her fell down, probably a book.

"Oh my, Slimy..."

She facehoofed inside. She got her nervous grin on again, skipping from one hoof to other.

 

"Like Diamond said, it would be fun. But I don't want to push you or intrude on anything."

He glanced at Diamond smiling.

"If you don't want to go, I think we're fine with that."

Nightfall got a glimpse of something green behind Coco, but didn't see much before Coco's hopping blocked it from view.

"And if you were busy doing... science with something or... or someone, if that, than I'm sorry."

The green thing sat there, but had an odd shape, almost like a pony. But as Coco skipped back and forth, he never got a seriously good look at it.

Diamond was feeling a little confused by Coco's odd behavior and couldn't help but ask. "Uh...Coco...You feelin' alright ?" She asked, with a slightly worried expression. *It almost seem's like she's trying to hide something...Hmm.* She thought, wanting to try to look around Coco, but she didn't want to be rude, so she just stood there and waited to for answer.

"Yes, I'm okay. What could possibly...go wrong?"

Coco started getting impatient. "When the prom is, please? Which day? Or.. " she looked behind her. Slimy was constantly looking out and running around.

"WHY"

All that action and noise behind her was scratching her nerves. And also the nerves of her cat. Suddenly, the cat jumped out from under the bed and jumped behind the books. She just heard the sound of falling books.

"NO!"

She didn't think of anything in that moment. She just ran to the pile of fallen books.

Diamonds eyes widened at the...Slime pony ? Running around Coco's room as she ran over to the pile of books. "OOOK." She pulled Nightfall into the room and quickly closed the door before anypony noticed. "Um Coco...Who...er what is that ?" She asked, looking at Slimy.

Coco dug out her cat from the pile of fallen books, took her into her hooves, hugged her and kissed her forehead. Slimy tried to hid himself behind Coco, but he was too big and it was too late.. She patted his forehead.

"At least you weren't hit..." she kept sitting on the carpet with cat in her hooves.

She looked at Diamond and Nightfall

"It's.." she sighed.

"It's Slimy...Slimy, they won't hurt you. Get out of there."

Slimy looked from behind her shoulder shyly.

"And.. this is Raindrop." she added, looking at the cat in her hooves. The cat was confused, but too shocked by the books that she didn't bother with hiding or running, like she usually does.

Slide looked down at Lite, then at the time. It was getting late. (correct?) He smiled down at Lite, hoping she was still somewhat awake. He leaned down, without moving her head from his chest, and whispered. "I have to go now. I have to tend to my own room, and put my trombone back. Besides, we should probably sleep." He kissed her, expecting to hold onto it for a while, but stopped, smiling a bit to largely. "Unless you want me to stay here. Because I can do that. I'll just have to get up early, and leave you then."

Coco looked around. The books were everywhere, and there was hardly a place to take a seat. "Uh.. take a seat on my bed if you want to.. all I can offer you is a seaweed tea, sorry. Do you want any?"

Slimy looked at Diamond with a confused look.

"What does she mean.. what exactly I am? I'm just like everyone else.."

Coco caressed him and looked back at Diamond. "This will take a while.."

"Actually.. he's here since today.. No, he was here all the time but.. not in this form. It's complicated."

Slimy lay on the carpet like Coco usually does.

"Okay, let's start.." she took a deep breath.

"Everfree forest is full of great stuff. I found this place when I was trying to fly.. before I got these." she fluttered her framed wings. "Before I was accepted to the Pranceton University, I'd started collecting all kinds of mysterious samples, which I tested, trying to find the core of magic.. A way how to use it without a horn and stuff.. One day, I found a little piece of green ooze. And a lot of other stuff, but it's not important now. So, here I have enough of equipment to study these. But all the tests went wrong. Nothing reacted as I had predicted, how it was supposed to work.. This ooze caught my attention with its ability to stretch itself. And actually.. it was fun to play with it."

Slimy blushed.

"The sample had a knitted structure, that was the reason of stretching abilities. According to this fact and the fact it was green I named it GAK. And.. I got an idea of synthetising this ooze. But after the analysing, I found out that according to the composition, it's most likely alive.. I'm not stupid, it didn't have cells so It wasn't obvious.. So instead of synthetising, I started to taking care of it and growing it.. and continued with observing. Nothing seemed to be different.. but one day.. well, today..."

They all floated into a few very neat and tidy stacks.

Slide looked down at Lite, then at the time. It was getting late. (correct?) He smiled down at Lite, hoping she was still somewhat awake. He leaned down, without moving her head from his chest, and whispered. "I have to go now. I have to tend to my own room, and put my trombone back. Besides, we should probably sleep." Night Shimmer returned back to Lite, and Lite was smiling at Slide, a bit sad, but still happy that he was with her. "Aw, already? OK. Hey, maybe if Diamond isn't here, we could sleep together... I mean, of course, if you want. I wouldn't mind it a single bit..."

"Oh.. thank you." said Coco, watching the books floating around. Slimy observed Diamond with surprise. He got courage.

"Hello." he said silently. It was the only greeting word he heard so far from Coco. He kept observing Nightfall with unsure look in his emerald eyes.

"He's so cute, isn't he?" she added. He sure was - a lot bigger than her, but also more bashful. Slimy didn't understand why she said that. Coco gently put sleeping Raindrop on the carpet. She trotted to prepare the tea. The spare of water was still warm, so it didn't take too long to make the water hot. She brought the tea, putting the cups on a bedside table. She took one of them and carefully put it into Slimy's hooves.

"The point is - he's ingenious." Slimy looked at her with even more confused look. He didn't understand anything she was saying about the Everfree, and now he was even more confused. He felt like an ordinary living being.

"He taught himself how to walk, just by looking at me trotting when he was just a sample. He even taught himself how to read the same way. He can feel emotions.. with a little help." Coco made a pause.

"But he needs to percieve from more ponies than just me.. That way, he can choose how he wants to be on his own. If he gets stucked with me, he'll be just a copy of myself, not himself.."

Nightfall had stood by, confused and very interested in the green pony.

"Nice to meet you," he said, almost too low. He circled the green pony, then reached out his hoof to touch it. But he didn't, and instead retracted his hoof a little.

"May I..?" He inquired to the green pony.

Arcane got back to his dorm from shopping. He now had a tux, and daaaang was it expensive. At least it wasn't a rental and he could keep it forever. "I guess I should try it on... ugh, but I already tried on like... 50, along with this one... Never going shopping again" he told himself. He put the tux down safely on the couch and examined it. It was a standard colored tux. Black and white, but made of very high quality materials.

He was staring at Nightfall suspiciously. Coco saw that he finished his tea, she took the cup and put it into the sink and returned.

She trotted to Slimy. He wasn't very happy about Nightfall's interest.

"Don't worry." Coco whispered, gently taking his hoof. He seemed to calm down.

"You know...there is a shop downtown where you can get fancy dress clothes. If you don't want to go there...you're welcome to borrow one of my dresses. I have allot...most of them are just gifts because I think everypony thinks I am all about being fancy...which I am...but I have allot of clothes...I don't know where I am going with this." She blushed.

Shade was in her room... Alone as all ways, she was in bed underneath the blanket keeping warm from the cold outside, it wasn't a good time of year for changeling, most of them would be in the hive keeping warm... But shade was stuck at a collage not getting any respect from most ponies...

"Uhm..." Slimy wasn't sure what to answer. He was eating just dishes made of seaweed, and he found all of them very tasty. Coco saw his confused look. "I was feeding him with clear iodide before .. But now, I tried sushi, laverbread.. things made of seaweed. But he should be able to eat anything...in theory. He just needs enough of iodide. And.. fresh seaweed is over there." she pointed on the bucket standing next to the heating.

She went to the bathroom to check it her scarf and boots were dry. They were, so she put them on. She also got her flying goggles. "Okay, I'm ready to leave."

She was actually glad to leave. She wanted to see her home once again.

"Thank you so much for this.. Do you have anything else to ask? And if you need to have some time alone, don't worry about Slimy. He can entertain himself if you give him a good book." she looked at sleeping Raindrop. "Uh.. could you please take a look on her too? She's used to being alone, but falling asleep in a room full of ponies and waking up into an empty room could be kinda shocking.."

Lila was in her room bored, the number 83 still running through her head. A thought occurred to her suddenly. "Its been a while since i last saw Shade. I think ill drop by." she muttered to herself still deep in thought. Leaping off the bed Lila headed out her door and trotted down to Shades room. It took her a while and after looking stupid going down the hall three or four times Lila found the right room number. Lila paused before lightly knocking on the door.
