"I can only hope to myself but do not depend on me, because i could be gone at any second" Aqua trotted along next to Frostbite waiting for something to happen, he does not look for trouble but is expecting it, and he finds it useful to be ready for anything.

She laughed, "I wasn't depending on you, I was depending on not having to carry you around here - Earth pony" she said with a wink and a laugh. She didn't hold a steady tone either, and it made it unclear whether she was being serious or messing around. With that, she decided it would be best if she where to stay at the back of the group, and waited until everypony had moved in before she followed.

"aha, you will not have to worry about that, you would not be able to lift me anyway" Aqua said in response with a little chuckle, as he moved away from Frostbite into the middle of the group. He just wanted to make sure that he could hope fully reach the front or the back as quick as possible.

Unholy decided to stay close to North.

If anypony is surviving this place, it'll be him... she thought as she listened for the movement of ponies' hooves.

Well... no turning back now... I guess all we can do now is move forward... Unholy Sight thought, flipping her mane out of her face. for some reason, her mane was not cooperating with her today.

@@aRegularPony,

I wonder what will happen when we come face to face with a yami kitsune and he somehow gets trapped in one of its domes of darkness or something and we can't get in Star Rain sarcastically thought. She predicted that somehow, karma was going to catch up with Demence and something bad was going to happen to him. As annoying and heartless as he was though, she wasn't going hesitate and help him out if the need ever came.

With little or more fear, Star Rain stepped onto the gangplank and joined Slicer at the peninsula. Well, this is it. This is the time I become a legend... or the time that I die. Still... "Nopony would miss me..." she muttered under her breath.

(OOC: Just throwing an idea out for a jungle animal. "Yami" is Japanese for "darkness", while a kitsune is a fox-like spirit that is a malevolent master of trickery.)

Leaf got off the boat, knowing that he just got on the dangerous territory of the jungle and stayed close to the group, hoping that he would make it back alive. He then went up to Star Rain. "Hey, you must be Star Rain..." he said. "Who knows what kind of dangers there are in the jungle..." Leaf warned.

Frostbite noticed Leaf coming up behind the group, and when he passed her she shouted - "Hey Leaf! How's the wing treating you? Feeling any better yet?" She was genuinely concerned - not so much because she cared about the pony, but because she cared about how his flight may be crucial in some way to the survival of the group. Of course, she didn't make it obvious, she sounded like she was interested in his wellbeing.

Well... no turning back now... I guess all we can do now is move forward... Unholy Sight thought, flipping her mane out of her face. for some reason, her mane was not cooperating with her today.

North was plodding along near the front of the group, keeping wary while the others chattered away behind him. They hadn't penetrated very far into the Fringe yet, but he wanted to be prepared, just in case. Glancing around, he didn't notice that Unholy had trotted ahead to walk next to him. He jumped a little bit, and scooted away from her a tiny bit. She had been practically on top of him, although he wasn't sure she had realised it. He smiled uncomfortably to show that it was alright, again out of habit, then laughed at himself. She couldn't see the smile. Then, with a shake of his head, he brought his attention back to his surroundings...

@@Descant,

Unholy continued walking by North, giving him a little more distance this time.

"At least we haven't got close to the dangerous stuff yet... I don't need to be as cautious here..." Unholy murmured to herself as she walked along.

Star Rain inched away from Wind Slicer when touched her. She wasn't comfortable with being touched by others. But he's sounding nicer. Maybe it's because we're about to enter a biome of blood or something and we have to start relying on each other was her thought. Her ears perked up at the sound of her name being called and silently agreed with Leaf about the animals this jungle could be housing.

Démence followed the group into the dense jungle. "So, how long should it take before the jungle starts pushing us out." He asked, somewhat concerned. He was excited, yes, but he knew only a few would survive. And he had a feeling he wouldn't be one of them.

A monkey swung by the group on a vine, passing in the opposite direction. North watched it pass for a moment. They had been walking for a good hour or so, he predicted, as it was hard to tell the position of the sun; the leafy canopy of the trees high above caused the jungle below to live in a state of eternal twilight.

In responce to Demence's question, he said softly, "Well, the undergrowth will start thickening slightly-" as it had been, "-and the trees will become thicker, and older." as they had been doing. "So... I'd say... Keep on your guard."

The Jungle had gone unusually, oppressively quiet as North finished speaking. It felt unnatural, almost surreal. North's wings flared out slightly. It felt like something was watching them. But North could not detect anything moving, or any noises other than their own hooves crunching on the leaf-strewn floor. He climbed through the thorny vines of a briar bush, nicking himself slightly. A single droplet of blood oozed its way down his flank, but he was too intent on his surroundings to notice.

Démence looked through his book again, hoping there were no deadly thorns. Not seeing any, he walked through, gaining a few cuts and some blood. He snapped off a single thorn for use as a weapon and continued along the dark jungle. Looking up, he saw a few monkeys. He didn't even know monkeys could survive in such harsh environments.

Slicer followed behind North and noticed a drop of blood running down his leg. "Hey North, You got yourself a battle wound there." He said quietly, Gesturing at the cut, and pushing a few thorn's away from his face.

Unholy carefully weaved through the thorns, she was use to it, so she made it look kind of easy.

Unholy smelt blood ahead of her and behind her, she figured a few ponies were getting scratched and she wrote it off as nothing.

Until she started to think about it...

Blood... creatures can smell blood as well as I can... oh no! we're going to attract something not very pleasant... Unholy thought as she took another step forward.

Star Rain gritted her teeth as she walked between the briar bushes. The thorns slashed at her like sewing needles as she moved through them. She was tempted to use her magic and make a barrier, but she read up some plants that live in the jungle that actually react to magic. She didn't want to risk running into those by using her magic, though it's going to be her primary weapon, assisted by her enchanted sword and daggers. But this is only the Fringe, so it should be safe for now... With that, she found some rocks and used a series of spells to make them look like gems. She also read that some of the animals here are mesmerized by shiny objects.

Leaf sucked up that the bushes are going to hurt him and went through. He got a couple of scratches and a scar that is bleeding. He then took some painkillers so he wouldn't have to face the pain when he fixed it; but it still didn't stop the bleeding. "I should be able to bandage the scar on my right side of my torso later..." he thought.

Aqua was not fussed by the thorn bushes he simply moved most of them out the way with his staff, the ones that did touch him did not fuss him because of the brutal training he had been through, his skin was hard and coarse to the touch. He held most of the branches out the way for who ever else had to come through.

Frostbite was a little unsure as to why the other unicorn hadn't simply blasted the thorns out the way, she was obviously strong enough.

However, she must have had her reasons, otherwise she would have done. This was the only thing keeping her from freezing the thorns and shattering them herself. All the liquid running through the plants would make it just too easy. Instead she decided to quickly hop through the gap that Aqua had created for them - "Thank you kindly" she nodded as she hopped through.

Aqua realised that everpony had made it through and proceded back to the centre of the group, minding Frostbites icy footprints on the floor. But he did notice that there was blood from two different ponies now, for sure something would pick up that scent in no time, so he made sure he was ready for what ever was coming.

North looked back towards the thorns to make sure that everypony was still with the group before, evidently recognising something, he shouted with alarm and dove to one side, pushing himself and Unholy Sight out of the way of a thorny whip, nearly half a foot in diameter, which had lashed out from the very thorn bush they had just climbed through.

Several more thorny vines extracted themselves, revealing... revealing two rotten tree stumps, each twice the height of a pony, each flailing whips of thorns about violently, trying to do as much damage to the passing ponies as was possible. The stench emitted by the stumps was overwhelming, almost disabling. One vine, unfortunately, snagged the unicorn known as Frostbite around the ankle, and before she could react, had dragged her up one of the rotten stumps into a hole on the top, which closed as soon as she had been dragged into it. It had all been so sudden; the party seemed to be in a panic. North took out his slingshot and, moments later, a ruby flew from it, striking a thorny tendril that had just wrapped itself around Slicer's hind leg, shattering it.

A third tendril had snagged Démence; the half-a-foot-thick vine dug its thorns into the zebra's sides as it siezed him around the midriff and began to pull him towards the second putrid stump. North took a step forward, but he was caught off guard by a third thorny whip that struck him in the face. Loading his slingshot and snarling, he found himself unable to help Démence as he combatted this thorn, which evaded many of his attacks and attempted to land many of its own. From what he could see, many other ponies in his troop found themselves in the same predicament. Some were even dueling two tendrils.

((If I think you overdo the powerplay, I'll tell you to cool down a bit. Nopony here's powerful enough to blast all the thorns to smithereens and free the ponies taken by the Yateveo in one turn. Demence is currently being dragged up the trunk, and Frostbite has been swallowed whole. Luckily for her, the Yateveo swallows its still-wriggling food whole, but she'll want to get out soon if she's still going to have all her proper nerve endings intact. Digestive fluid, yum.))

Blood gushed from the holes the vines had made as Demence struggled to escape. "Well... This is uncomfortable" He said, trying to stay somewhat calm. Looking around, he saw every pony else fighting the vines. One pony, Frostbite, had even been swallowed. Probably still alive, but swallowed nonetheless. He was hurt, he could barely even retaliate against the Yateveo stump. Thorns cutting in to him. The blood loss was causing him to lose vision. Fighting to stay awake, he asked any pony for help.

The thorns that had lashed around her legs had left massive cuts deep into her flesh, but right now Frostbite didn't care about that, she was more concerned about the goo she had been pulled into, and why had the thorns let go? She wasn't thinking clearly, she was panicking about what to do. She could hear fighting going off outside, and wondered if there was anypony free to help.

She glanced around for a few minutes before realizing, she had been pulled into waste high liquid. She began kicking at the water, trying to keep herself afloat, but the more she kicked the more the pain in her hind legs intensified. The only thing she could think to do was to freeze the liquid, but that would freeze her in place too. So instead, she decided to focus her ice magic on a specific portion of the goo, to give herself something to hang on to, and perhaps climb onto.

Leaf had suddenly noticed that Frostbite was taken by the vines and into the hole in the stump. Meanwhile, Demence is going to be the tree's next victim, Leaf, more aware of the situation took out his souvenir ninja star he got from an convention, which is incredibly sharp for some reason and tried to aim it at the vine that is carrying Demence up. He then threw it and hoping that the vine would snap in two.

((I'll give you good odds on this one. If the D10 gives me a number higher than four, it works. If I roll an odd number, in her panick, Frostbite overdoes it a bit. *rolls* Seven. Your ice spell worked, a little too well.))

The entire body of corrosive fluid, in the interior of the trunk, is frozen solid, and all the way through.

Leaf, more aware of the situation took out his souvenir ninja star he got from an convention, which is incredibly sharp for some reason and tried to aim it at the vine that is carrying Demence up. He then threw it and hoping that the vine would snap in two.

@@aRegularPony

((Let's say... Even number, it severs it. Odd number less than five, it gets stuck in the vine, partially severing. Greater than, misses entirely. *rolls* Three.))

The ninja star landed right on target, partially severing the thorny vine. Sap oozes from the vine's wound, like blood, and its grip on Demence weakens noticably. The throwing star is embedded in the vine.

((Forgive my inadequacy at DMing action RP's. It's a new experience, please bear with me.))

North watched with awe as the tendrils from the Yateveo that had swallowed Frostbite slowed drunkenly. Now was his chance. Dodging attacks from the weakened tree, he made it to the base and began hacking at the base of one of the thorny tendrils, felling it. He watched one of the tendrils in combat collapse to the ground, cut off from its root, and had to dive away from the tree as the other tendrils turned on him.
