DubWolf 17,315 November 28, 2014 Share November 28, 2014 My brothers found out considering they saw me on the forums pretty often (although I thought they already assumed I was a brony considering I showed them the pony.mov series). A friend of mine found out since a link to this forum was on the "new page" window :S. It was no big deal . sweetolebob18 728 November 28, 2014 Share November 28, 2014 I've been watching cartoons since the 1950s. My friends & family know I do this, but ain't really interested in the details. They just think I'm weird & let it go at that. Stopped talking about it with most of my friends in the 1960s for roughly the same reason they don't talk sports with me. MEGO on both sides. Don't know if they know I watch MLP or not.
Red Cedar 1,408 November 28, 2014 Share November 28, 2014 My kids knew because I watched it with them. I told a few close friends directly. As for the others, well... The day before I went to BronyCAN (my first pony convention), I put a status message up on facebook declaring that the next day, I was going to come out. Of course, some were sceptical, one asked if I was coming out of the closet. Another asked if I was coming out of a cake, and for an invitation to that party. The next day I changed my profile picture to one of me wearing my Applejack t-shirt and told everyone I was coming out of the stables because I was a brony. One or two of my friends now look at me oddly, but the reaction was worth it! 1 Roleplaying OC: Red Cedar - Cast Character: Applejack
Virgil 685 November 28, 2014 Share November 28, 2014 I outed myself when I put S1 on DVD on my Christmas wish list on Amazon last year; my parents were confused at first ( my mother remembers watching one of the previous generations with my sister, so it was understandable ) but are now okay with it. Guess they just added it to my list of eccentricities ,and... my Older brother bought me said DVD for Christmas that year. Funny aside: I'm pretty open about being a fan, so at my former place of work (don't worry, was just time to move on didn't get fired) I would sometimes wear a Derpy belt buckle and would get an impressive amount of compliments about from customers. So when I got employee of the month I asked if the plaque that bears the name of those who get that title would read Derpy Hooves instead of my name. My reasoning being Derpy actually got more praise than myself, although it would be unlikely I found out since corporate has to approve the paperwork. Didn't find out what the plaque ended up reading, since it takes a while to get the plaques. But if I find out it reads Derpy.... that will be my greatest accomplishment. I know there's a place you walkedWhere love falls from the treesMy heart is like a broken cupI only feel right on my knees.I spit out like a sewer holeYet still receive your kissHow can I measure up to anyone nowAfter such a love as this? Moonlight 7,287 November 28, 2014 Share November 28, 2014 I told my parents since I needed someone to buy merchandise for me, they didn't really care then and now that I own a bunch of pony stuff they still don't care. A lot of others in my family knows since they all saw me watching the show, I've only had one bad reaction and that was because he hated bronies and not the show itself. I watched G3 as a kid so it wouldn't be surprising for me to like the next generation too. Plus it's a show, no big deal. matching setups with my bff pathfinder
Justin_Case001 4,902 December 8, 2014 Share December 8, 2014 Looking for a place to post this good little story. This seems like as good a place as any. So, this last Thanksgiving, my parents went to my uncle's. For various reasons, I didn't go this year. My parents wanted to bring some recent pictures of me to show my uncle. I also sent my parents with a couple pictures of Mare of Steel, (see signature) so my uncle could see what I've been working on recently. Little backstory--my uncle was single until he was middle aged. He married. His wife already had adult children, with children of their own. Sadly, she died not too long after that. My uncle now lives with his late wife's daughter and family, and he considers them like his own son and daughter. He thinks of their kids as his grandkids, and they think of him and their grandpa. So, I sort of think of the kids in this family as my cousins, even though I have no relation. I guess the parents would really be more like my cousins, but that just doesn't feel as natural to say for some reason. Anyway, the youngest member of this family is a six year old girl. I've only met her once, when she was about 3, I think, and she doesn't remember me. Okay, so, my parents pulled out the Mare of Steel of picture, and before saying anything or showing it to anyone else, they showed it to my cousin, the little girl, and asked if she knew who this was. Of course, she instantly exclaimed "That's Rainbow Dash!" My mom then told her that I made the picture, and that I love MLP as well. My mom then showed my cousin a picture of me, and my cousin, without being told anything, immediately says, matter of factly, "Oh, he a brony!" Six years old. "Oh, he's a brony." Basically my reaction: All my relatives were fine with it, of course. They had some other friends over as well, and one 16 year old girl said that she's "the brony of her family". Anyway, I just got a big kick out of that, and wanted to share it.
