Gone for good 1,593 January 21, 2013 Share January 21, 2013 So yeah, while I was browsing my typical pony related crap on the internet I figured why the heck not see if there are any upcoming conventions near me besides Bronycon, and look at this here's one in DC this march! It's called Cloudsale Congress, costs $35 for two days, aaaand is March 9th and 10th. There's a website here. It doesn't look as big or as nice as Bronycon, but still looks like a fun way to spend a weekend and hey it's half the price as Bronycon. Soooo, anyone here besides me planning on going? If you are we should totally see about sharing a hotel room or something to cut the costs, as even though I don't live too far from DC I kind of don't want to go home for a night. Leafeon 2,702 January 21, 2013 Share January 21, 2013 I hate living in Canada. There has been no cons in even somewhat drivable distance. That being said, I cant plan on going to any cons ever. Dev 251 January 21, 2013 Share January 21, 2013 Hey, at least you're SOMEWHAT in driving distance, I live in Australia...the only way I'm getting to any cons of any sort is if I swim the several thousand kilometres, because there's no way my parents would appreciate me of being a brony or be willing to take me to any sort of convention, and they're not buying any plane tickets, either. ._. Antismurf9001 1,271 January 21, 2013 Share January 21, 2013 (edited) $35 for two days of ponies? Relatively close to where I live (only a few hours away)? Gah! Stop tempting me! And it's even placed conveniently during the end of my Spring Break (would have been better at the beginning, but whatever). Curses, I'd love to go, but the truth is I probably won't. My parents aren't terribly keen on spontaneous road trips like this, and they don't know about MLP yet, and that's probably something that they'd need to know. I hope that you have a good time though. Mutemutt 773 January 21, 2013 Share January 21, 2013 I'll probably end up going, I mean it's right at the start of my spring break and a little over an hour away. But I'm just a poor college student so I'll be cutting costs and just sleeping at home instead of a hotel.
Batbrony 16,055 January 21, 2013 Share January 21, 2013 Huh, too bad I'm not still interning in D.C. Still, there's the unfortunate potential that the con might become a little too political; I'm not even joking, I'd be hesitant even if I was out there to go to a D.C. con simply because D.C. is such a political environment. You might have way too many leftist groups showing up asking for support, you might have right wing groups trying to interfere, heck, I could even see hostile debate breaking about between bronies in attendance. Probably would check it out if I had the chance, but still, like I said, I think there's a little too much potential for something political going down. Still, hope you have a good time Lord Bababa!!!!! "You'll hunt me. You'll condemn me, set the dogs on me. Because that's what needs to happen. Because sometimes... cupcakes aren't good enough. Little known fact about me I used to don on a costume and go outside as a masked vigilante and would actually get involved trying to take down criminals. If political violence or arguments ensue I could come out of retirement and stop whatever nonsense happens! (btw I'm also actually dead serious) But uh, man nobody here's going except for Cota. Friggin' people being friggin' aaaaaaaaa time to be the lone wolf and go alone. Edited January 21, 2013 by Lord Bababa 1 Just editing my signature to say that my behavior on here was cringe. Still, hope you have a good time Lord Bababa!!!!! I have been to Katsucon in DC. It doesn't get political, it's just the same old Anime convention. The location won't change it. I don't know anything about the Cloudsdale thing. I mean, I get the whole DC thing but what I'm saying is, when it comes to conventions don't let the location freak you out. I just wasn't sure how conventions could potentially go down in D.C. I mean, like I said, I'm simply drawing this from the experience of interning there more than anything else, and from spending over three months there, I can safely say that politics pretty much permeate everything in the city. But that's encouraging to hear, and hopefully there is no political tension at the con, because that would be a dang shame for those in attendance. "You'll hunt me. I went to college there, so four years...I totally know what you are talking about which is why I decided not to move there permanently, but when it comes to fandoms, it doesn't do anything. : ) so that is good news!

Bucky McGillyCuddy 956 February 20, 2013 Share February 20, 2013 I wish I lived somewhere I could even drive to a convention. Anything worth while is always in the US... BronyCon, Comic-con, E3. Australia gets barely anything. If you'd be so kind as to check out some of my drawings, I would really appreciate feedback. http://mlpforums.com/topic/82464-feedback-is-magic/?hl=feedback+is+magic#entry2127254 http://mlpforums.com/topic/82871-what-happens-when-a-pony-fights-a-griffin/?p=2178588
