Yeah, I decided to make the title of this thread as strange and vague as possible, because why not?

What I'm referring to is a fairly little-known computer game which is inexplicably called Powder. It's a one-shot (meaning you die once and it's over) adventure game available for pretty much every computer operating system as well as phones. It's kind of a hard game to explain if you haven't actually played it, but I guess the best way to put it is that it's a dungeon crawler in the purest sense. If you start playing it, you can really easily get sucked into it, and I personally have spent an embarrassing amount of time playing it.

So anyway, this thread has two purposes. The first being to see if any of you have played Powder, and to talk about it if you have. The second purpose is just to tell everyone that they should go get this game because it's awesome (and free).

You can get the game here

I also wanted to mention that Powder can be a very cruel game. Suffice to say, they don't tell you anything. But that's part of what makes it so much fun.

I couldn't find a version for windows, it looked like it was only available on consoles. Anyway, the game looks really cool and fun, although I hate games where if you die once, you have to start all over.

If you followed the link I gave you it should be there. Try this: http://www.zincland.com/powder/index.php?pagename=release

In regards to the whole one-shot thing, you have to understand that you're not expected to beat the game anyway. You just see how far you can get before you inevitably die. And a lot of the time you die in the first five to ten minutes. But trust me, it's fun. Once you play for a little while and start to get into it, you'll understand.

Oh no, this is NetHack all over again. I like these games, but no matter how much content they have, i always seem to wish for more different items, monsters, skills, spells, etc.

Well, there's quite a bit of variety in terms of items, all though it doesn't seem like it on the surface. As for monsters, you rarely get far enough that you really see all that much variety, but theres a decent amount. The skills and spells have a decent variety as well, but you'll usually only be able to get a couple in each playthrough anyway, so it's enough to keep you trying to get different, more advanced ones.

Yeah, i know. My point was that there can never be too much  So i keep asking for more. This reminds me of some games that had large amount of content and i was hoping that the sequels has more, only to find out that it had less :(

Yeah, I know what that's like. So much disappointment. Still, it's better than if they didn't get a sequel at all. *Sigh* Oh Rogue Galaxy, if only your creators hadn't been bought out by Square Enix.

Oh god. It's like Dont Starve all over again.

That game had me addicted for days, it's just too easy now though :(

I'll have to give this a try too, when I get round to it. Sounds like it could be a good laugh.

A one shot, inexplicable game that you can spend an obscene amount of time on? It sounds really similar to this game I'm playing called Life.

You know, the board game?

Yeah, it's definitely good for a laugh. It can be a very cruel game, as I said before, but in a way that's often amusing. Frustrating, but amusing.

Yeah, being the kind of person to play horror games, and laugh when I just get instantly killed, or something like that...

Say...fully enchanted diamond armour, infinity bow, went to the end - insta-killed by the enderdragon knocking me off the edge, I just laughed.

I've never actually played a dungeon crawler though, never been one for PC gaming (never been ABLE to) so it will be interesting to see how my first time plays out.

Frankly, your first several times will probably be spent just figuring out how things work.

One thing I recommend you look at when you first start is the list of gods, as they represent what class you level up as, and which ones you can choose to worship depend on how much they like you. I didn't even know about all of them for a while. You'll probably never see Pax, for example, unless it's because he's punishing you for doing something wrong. And it's just pure luck whether or not ><0:V: likes you (yes that's the name of  one of the gods. He's kind of weird), unless you already worship him, in which case he tells you what he wants most of the time.
