How come we aren't seeing much of Cloudsdale

I want to see more of Cloudsdale. It sucks really. I remember only seeing Rainbow Dash's house for 3 seconds and we never seen it again. We don't even know of that is her parents house yet. I just want to see more cloudsdale episodes because ponyville is getting stale. I mean we have been to the apple family house a ton of times. Why not RD's turf?

Well one reason will be because only Pegasi can go there (unless you have wings made or a spell cast). But Sweet Apple Acres and Ponyville are easily accessible to all.

I'm sure they will go there eventually, probably in a RD centric episode. I do admit I want to see more if RD's backstory beyond "I'm a good flier".

I don't remember an episode where the Mr. Mrs. Cake were shown. Were they any? Been looking for some reference of them in season 3.

Both are in season 3

Mr. Mrs Cake are in th episode "Magic Dual"

They are in about scene 9:25-9:30.

They are also shown with pound cake and pumpkin cake.

Good luck

:P

Well, 'Dash's house' and 'Cloudsdale' are two different entities. Cloudsdale is the home of the Pegasi, it's the third primary city/town along with Canterlot and Ponyville. Dash's house is just her house, and it's not connected to Cloudsdale. It's been shown to be on the outskirts of Ponyville somewhere, above some grassland and a few dirt roads. (ie: 'Griffin the Brush Off')

I think Cloudsdale is just the odd man out of the primary locations. None of the main characters live there, none of the secondary characters live there, etc. Meanwhile, all of the primary and many of the secondary characters live in Ponyville, and then you have Canterlot which has the Princesses and Shining Armor, and is a focal connection to the plot a lot of the time, thusly.

It's too bad. I'd love to see more Cloudsdale too.

Totally agree with both your observations and sentiments!  Cloudsdale is certainly one of the more unique locations in Equestria, and that is both what makes it so great but also so difficult to bring into very many episodes.  Luckily we've got the fandom to expand upon these seldom seen locations, whether in art or fanfictions!  Heck, if I get to "The Derp Knight Rises" down the road, I'm planning on having Cloudsdale play a significant role in that myself.  But yeah, like you said, it makes sense, but it's also too bad that the show hasn't gotten to showcase Cloudsdale more.

I agree that CLoudsdale was very underutilized, for being one of the coolest, most unique, and most interesting locations in the entirety of the show. When Cloudsdale was first shown, it had so much potential. Not only was it a city in the clouds, but it was a central hub for pegasi and weather related industries. It was filled with epic nods to classical architecture and a pegasus society just waiting to be delved into.

Despite this, the show didn't really go any further than that. There are only about five episodes (give or take) that have have a somewhat significant part take place in cloudsdale (at least over a minute of screen time there). That's less than both Canterlot and Manehatten, two cities which weren't as unique and interesting as Cloudsdale. It's just a lot of wasted potential.

The only real reason I could guess for this is that only pegasi could go there, but even that is shaky. With a spell, non-pegasi can walk on clouds for a temporary period of time, so there isn't really an excuse for it. They simply underused and underdeveloped the place; so sad.

It appears that there were actually going to be two map episodes that took place in Cloudsdale, but they were unfortunately scrapped (Prism Break and The Princess of Stress). These unreleased episodes make me wonder if there was an original intention to further develop Cloudsdale as a location, along with the weather factory and the weather pegasi. Unfortunately, this potential development was scrapped, leaving Cloudsdale as an extremely underutilized location.

Also, I was hoping that Cloudsdale would get it's second chance in G5, but instead it seems that Zephyr Heights will be taking its place. This is a bit sad to me considering all the potential Cloudsdale had, but who knows, maybe an epic cloud city like Cloudsdale will make an appearance in the G5 series.

I don't think 3d animated production with tv level budgets and schedules would allow for a decent looking cloud city, certainly not an epic one

Well, that would add to my list of reasons why I wish that the actual G5 series would be 2D. Even with that though, I feel like that kind of city could still be possible. The concept of a cloud city was such an interesting one, and it would be a big missed opportunity if the writers of G5 didn't try to bring it back in some way.
