Ardent Discharge stood down the cobble street from the Mane and tail, something was odd. There where no ponies in sight. None of the general busy activity the place normally offers, and not even any guards...
For Canterlot this was incredibly odd and it didn't go unchecked in his eyes. Still though, he had his reasons for being there, and that was the only thing he was bothered about - with this, he took flight towards the inn, his battered wing forcing him to push long and hard strokes, this gave him somewhat irregular flight; bursts of speed in-between pulling his wings back for another stroke. He landed heavily outside the door to the inn, and entered.

Discharge found it funny how he had been getting quite accustomed to the inn over these past few weeks, being out and about exploring all the time, he didn’t really have a home – but the inn seemed to be becoming just that as of late. As he approached the counter, a hoarse voice called over to him:
“The usual?”
“Not today, I need to keep focused for tonight.” Discharge replied.
“Going on another one of your crazy treasure hunts?”
“Nah, not this time. I can’t say what, but it’s something important.”
“Of course it is.” The barkeep said, with a disbelieving tone, as he slid over a glass of water.
Shooting a cocky smile, and taking the water in his mouth, Discharge nodded, and headed over to a table near the ale barrels in the corner of the room.

He placed his water on the table, and sat down.
“I wonder where Aqua has gotten to?” he thought out loud as he emptied his saddlebags and began rummaging through his equipment.
“Well, everyopny knows where to meet. It’s just a matter of waiting now.” he mumbled. He couldn't help but feel some empathy for the eager ponies he had been forced to reject beforehand. But this crew he had assembled...he was confident they where up to the task.

Blended into the sky was something only a pony with a keen eye can spot. It was a dark-blue pegasus mare named Night Song. On her wings were blades. On her hooves were shoes(they're some type of archery gear). On her back were saddlebags and arrows, as well as her prized bow made from yew. She flew with a purpose, a significant one at that. She landed at the entrance of Canterlot, which was strangely familiar to her even though as far as she remembered, she had never been here before.

Aqua Pura realised that he was late for meeting his fellow adventurer Discharge at the mane and tail inn. He was atop Canterlot maintain training with his Grand Master, he said his fair well gathering his equipment and his ancient bo staff, encased in metal passed down through years and now to him by his teacher. He set off and made his way down the mountain back into Canterlot, eventually arriving out side the mane and tail inn.

Aqua looked around seeing that it was dead there was no one around, "hmmm... were is everypony" he thought to him self, but he was here for one purpose to meet everyone, so he walked into the inn there was other ponies in there but he took no notice of them, because upon entering Discharge sat in the corner of the room caught his eye, so he walked over and sat down not saying a word.

Goldseek stared at the city. He thought he would never return to this place. The paths were crouded with ponies, and, no doubt, some of them were being shady. Canterlot seemed like a nice place. But Goldseek's experiences had told him otherwise. He looked back to the letter and laughed. He was still doing this after all these years. The adventures all ways lead to hurt. He took sight of inn, which was quite the opposite of crouded. How had he never seen that place before? He galloped to the building quickly. He pushed open the doors and walked in and noticed three ponies. Aqua, Discharge, and no doubt, one of his companions. He sat down with the group, not saying anything. There was no need to say anything.

Lost Knowledge walked the streets of Canterlot, heading for the Mane and Tail inn. He was very excited for this new expedition, as it promised to be quite fascinating. He arrived at the inn and saw a group that had "treasure hunter" written all over them. He quietly joined them at the table.

Flame trotted down the street towards the inn. He had a small saddle bag and a long double ended spear across his back.

Arriving at the door, He hesitated before pushing it open. He noticed a small group in the corner and was unsure weather to go over or not.

Quip struggled to get all the things he needed ready. He didn't know the exact details, but he was to head to the Mane and Tail Inn, and meet someponies there.

He packed all his equipment and headed for the inn, hoping it wasn't some prank being pulled. If it was... somepony will have nightmares about bombs for the rest of their life.

Discharge had been eyeing the ponies one by one as they entered, and upon seeing most of them arrive he decided it was time to speak up. He finished the last of his water, walked over to the bar and with a clearing of his throat he began "Well, good evening everypony" he glanced at his watch, seeing it was only 2pm "close enough... I see most of us have arrived, and we're only waiting for one or two as of now. As you know from our previous meetings, my name is Ardent Discharge, and this is Aqua Pura" he gave a slight nod of his head over in Aqua's direction as he addressed him. "I would suggest you all get a drink and get acquainted with each other - as we seem to have interviewed most of you individually." A slight edge of confusion in his voice "This would be as good a time as any while we await the arrival of the other ponies. When they arrive, I will be going over the plans for the coming journey." He banged his hoof on the table and another glass of water was promptly slid over to him, he then took the glass, and returned to his seat.

Night Song arrived in the inn that was written on the flyer. She could see a big congregation of ponies, so she walked over to them. She kept her weapons concealed in case somepony tried to confiscate them. She looked awkwardly around the room, seeing how she was possibly going to be the youngest member.

Maroon Sky trotted down the dirt path ever slowly. On his back was a saddlebag, filled to the brim with various supplies. A pair of stone clubs hung on each side of his saddle, light enough not to hinder his movements but should be sturdy enough to protect him from any pony-sized threats. He strained his neck to take a look at his destination.

"Canterlot..." he murmured.

The Equestrian capital sprawled in front of him, its pearly white gates looming over his body. It had been years since the last time he allowed himself to see the capital. Maroon Sky sighed. After nodding to a standing Royal Guard on duty, he cantered to his destination.

It took Maroon Sky a while to find the inn. Mane and Tail, just like what Ardent said. He trotted in, and noticed the curious lack of ponies, other than the barkeep and a group of well-armed ponies that were supposed to be his expedition group. He trotted closer to the group and spoke, "I apologize for my lateness."

Satisfied with his entry, Maroon Sky sat on a nearby vacant seat and waited for Ardent to start the briefing.

Quip arrived at the inn a bit later than he expected, but at least he was there. He walked inside and instantly noticed Ardent speaking to the supposed group, he walked over lazily and a bit wobbly was his pack swayed back and forth, almost making him fall over.

Lost Knowledge ordered a glass of port and leaned back in his chair, surveying the rest of the group. They seemed to be a fairly capable group, although some of them appeared rather inexperienced. He was clearly the oldest one there, which was fine with him. They would be more inclined to listen to him, that way. With age comes wisdom, and all that.

He decided not to approach anyone but instead to wait and let them come to him.

Flame stayed in the corner of the room, his ear's were flat and he quietly tapped his hoof against the floor. He was feeling rather shy.

*I kinda wish we could just get going...I hate introducing myself, I never know what to say.* He thought, ruffling his feathers and looking around at the group.

Maroon Sky eyed the newest addition to the group, a green earth pony with a very interesting cutie mark. He observed the pony as he made his way to the group, wobbling slightly indicating that he was carrying something heavy, or a lot of something small. Maybe this pony's special talent was about explosion?

As the earth pony made his introduction, Maroon Sky took this chance to look at other ponies. With the new stallion, he counted five pegasus, three earth ponies, and two unicorns. Other than two pegasus mares, everypony else was a stallion. Maroon Sky decided that everypony should know everypony's names before they can function as a group. He contemplated waiting for Ardent, but it seemed that he was quite busy at the moment. He cleared his throat.

"My name is Maroon Sky. It's a pleasure to meet all of you today. I wish we all can work together as friends in this expedition," he spoke to the group.

Lost Knowledge decided that he might as well be the next one to speak up and introduce himself. He stood up and tipped his hat to the rest of the group.

"My name is Lost Knowledge, Doctor Lost Knowledge if you want to get technical. By the looks of things, I'm the old man of the group.", he said the last part with a bit of a chuckle.

Aqua stood up and turned towards everypony in the inn, even if they were part of the expedition or not. "For any pony who does not know who i am, or any pony who has not heard of me my name is Aqua Pura, but you may call me Aqua for this journey if you wish", spoken loud and clear so that everyone could hear and understand him.

"It would seem most of us are here now...we're only missing one" he murmured to himself as he looked across the group yet again.

"For those of you who have just arrived - or anypony who may have forgotten - my name is Ardent Discharge, I will be leading you on this expedition..." he paused for a second "this brings me to my next point...what is this expedition all about? You may be asking."

When these words left his mouth, there was a smile that crept to his lips and he banged his hooves together twice. There was a sudden commotion and moving of furniture, followed by doors closing and locking. He looked around, seeing everypony apart from his team had vacated as planned.

"We have been hired by Princess Luna herself, to retrieve something that is of great value to her, and to Canterlot. The Amulet of the Eventide. Now...I know about as much about this Amulet as any of you here today. It's valuable, and it's an Amulet. You may be asking yourself - If it's valuable to Princess Luna, why doesn't she just send her guards to go and get it? - She has done just this, but they have yet to return"

He took out a map and several knives for the next part of his speech. Rolling the map on the table, pinning a knife through Canterlot, and another through the Crystal Mountains.

"This is us, and this is our target. All we know is that the amulet should be returning along this path" as he spoke, he drew a figurative line down the map with his kunai. "So of course, naturally this is the way we're headed. Princess Luna was intuitive enough to give us a plan of the path her guards where to be taking upon return, we follow this path to every inch, until we find our goal."

He pulled the knives from the table, and rolled up his map, sliding it back into his saddlebag.

"We set off as soon as everypony is ready. Any questions?"

@,

Night Song became excited with some fear sprinkled in like... sprinkles. She felt everything she wanted to ask had been covered up by Ardent, but she still wanted to ask something. "Will there be anypony or any creatures getting in our way on this journey?" she asked, accidently letting her yew bow drop to the ground.

@,

Lost knowledge listened to Ardent's explanation, fascinated. When it was over, he sat there for a while, contemplating what had been said.

"What do we actually know about this amulet? I've been studying magical artifacts my whole life, and I've never even heard of it"

@@MagicalStarRain,

Discharge took a deep breath as he contemplated his answer, eyeing the bow drop to the floor, but otherwise paying no attention. "Princess Luna's guards where sent to retrieve the amulet from its holding place in the Tower of the Crystal Moon - something that seemed to have slipped my mind earlier. The guards sent word of their success before their return journey, and they have yet to actually return - this was weeks ago. They have had plenty of time by now, so...yes, the worst should be expected. As for what we may encounter, if anything...I cannot say. Possible bandits would be the most likely case." He answered with a stern tone - somewhat confident with a conflicting hint of uncertainty.

@,

He then turned to Lost Knowledge to answer his question "I...have no idea. Anything known about this Amulet is Princess Luna and Princess Celestia's knowledge only. She shared no information with me as to what this Amulet is or what it does, if anything. She only informed me of its appearance, and it's value to her and Equestria as a whole. One can assume given the situation, the Amulet must be worth a price. As for the appearance, I have been told it is more of a necklace than an Amulet. It has a central jewel of the purest black onyx, encased in a silver rim, connected by a small but sturdy platinum chain." He looked at the ground rather disappointingly "I'm afraid that's all we know."

@,

Lost Knowledge's mouth practically watered when he heard Ardent explain the amulet. An ancient treasure that no-one knew anything about, important enough to impact all of Equestria? This would earn him tremendous fame, and make for a great book as well.

Goldseek was interested at the explanation of the amulet. Could impact Equestria? What kind of amulet could do that? A magic amulet. "You mentioned guards disappearing. How many? Just the one expedition, or more?" Goldseek realized that this could impact their journey, even if the other ponies didn't realize it. A magical amulet. But with what magic? It could control ponies like a puppeteer for all they knew.

Quip rolled his eyes at the ridiculous questions, and the answer was booooring. Quip cleared his throat and raised his hoof, "When do i get to blow stuff up?" he asked with anticipation. After all, it was technically his cutie mark, without the colors that is. "More importantly, how long do you expect this journey to take? I'm not going to leave for a year you know."

Lost Knowledge shook his head at the immature stallion.

"Calm down, boy. We have to keep a level head and make sure we're fully prepared before we go running off into who knows what kind of danger. I'm sure you'll get an opportunity to blow things up at some point."
