gaming Help on becoming a face camer

i want to try to be one of those people who play games and record my reactions. for that i need some sort of program that records the video game im playing...they are mostly going to be flash games on the internet. I see so many people having fun with it but i need to know how to record the game footage. Is there some sort of downloadable program that i need or do i have to buy something. Or is it all just editing.

I see a lot of people use Fraps but it uses alot of memory. Whatever you use get a good mic and a webcam (unless you already have em). I suggest you find a good editing program. If it's your intention to put the videos you make on Youtube i recommend you use a good camera and edit with a good program first because Youtube ruins the quality of videos for some odd reason.

If you have no equipment then I would recommend a Blue snowball mic and the Microsoft 3000 HD webcam.

If I were to record myself I would use the recording feature in windows movie maker use fraps (This is a bad idea for low end PC's since it sometimes cuts your frame rate by 10) then I would export all of to a good editing software.

For editing I like to use sony vegas but it is a little pricey, windows movie maker is ok if you just want to just remove / add clip and add sound but there are plenty of free ones on the internet that are good.

For gameplay, I'd recommend Bandicam.
Fraps results in VERY high file sizes, and Bandicam offers that same level of quality for a much lower file size.

I can't recommend any specific webcams (Most cams come with their own capture software), but for what you want to do, you'll need some advanced video editing software like Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro (Mac only)
This software allows you to easily do picture in picture things, and is pretty flexible for a lot of other things.

@, @,  yeah i tried fraps and it only lets me record 30 seconds of footage and bandicam also wants money from me. so there is no diting software for pcs? i have a vista if that helps.

The only free alternative I can think of is Microsoft Expression Encoder. It allows for 10 minutes of recording with no watermark.

It offers a lot of options for a free screen capture software, so it's worth checking out.

With a bit of looking around, you might find some mods/effects for the Vista version of Windows Movie Maker that will allow for picture in picture mode.

DxTory and PlayClaw are very good game capture programs that can compress the video files on the go as it captures everything

You can also chose to record the gameplay in another resolution.

 

Example: Play in 1920x1080 while recording the gameplay in 1280x720.

 

You can also chose how many threads/cores those programs will use for the capturing/compressing.

The performance hit on them is also way less than fraps which is why I recommend them. Sadly their full versions aren't free :c
