Firebolt flinched, but said nothing. She couldn't hear anything specific. This was probably because of how tired she was, but she wasn't sure staying in a cave for a long time without being alert was a good idea. The others probably aren't even here anymore. She thought, yawing. "You know, maybe we should get some sleep, before we go anywhere... right?"

Thunder looked around the cave and thought about it.

 

"Well, I'm not sure how safe it is to sleep in here. There could be something living in here that we haven't seen yet. But if you want to sleep, I'll keep watch. I'm not really tired after I was sleeping earlier, anyway."

"Alright..." She said quietly, before closing her eyes again and laying her head down, she didn't go immediately to sleep, but started breathing heavily. There was no point in aimlessly looking for some noise that might not be there, anyway... She thought

Thunder could hear her breathing heavily and knew she still wasn't sleeping. He sighed and laid down next to her.

 

"You need to sleep. Don't worry about anything, I'll make sure you're safe. I'm not going anywhere without you."

 

That probably sounded weird, didn't it? Oh, well.

Firebolt leaned next to him. Dammit. Thought he would think I was asleep. She thought, a bit frustrated. Firebolt wanted to see if he would do anything, but she obviously didn't have that chance. Eventually, she drifted off to sleep, still leaning against him.

Thunder watched her laying there for a while until he was sure she was asleep. He hadn't been exaggerating before when he said he thought she looked like an angel. She just looked so peaceful and innocent, and... perfect.

 

After a few minutes he got up and began pacing the area near her, trying to be as quiet as possible so that he didn't wake her. He may not have been entirely truthful about not being tired, but he had to protect her, and that's what he was going to do.

Firebolt slowly woke up, hearing sounds of something moving. She opened her eyes, but didn't move, to see Thunder pacing. "What's up with you?" She asked, a bit worried. "You should probably get some sleep too." Firebolt put her head back down and closed her eyes.

Thunder stopped and looked over at her for a minute.

 

"I can't. If I go to sleep there won't be anyone keeping watch. I have to make sure you're safe. And anyway I'm fine, really. Don't worry about me just sleep."

 

I'll be fine. It's more important that I'm awake to protect her if something happens.

 

Tired of pacing he leaned against the wall of the cave and waited.

Firebolt looked back at him. "We'll be fine. Don't punish yourself like that." She said slowly getting up. "I can keep watch if you want." Firebolt walked over to him and stifled a yawn. "I don't even know what time it is. It could be real early..." Firebolt looked at him a bit upset.

Thunder sighed.

 

"Please don't worry about me. I want to do this.", He sighed again, "But if it's really important to you, I'll get some sleep. Just wake me up if there's any trouble, okay?"

 

Thunder laid down and looked up at her with a concerned expression.

 

"Don't let me sleep too long, alright? I feel bad having you keep watch at all."

Dashie woke up with her muzzle buried in someponies shoulder. She was a little confused as to how she ended up here, so she rolled off the bed and landed on her hoofs to get a better look. She looked at the sleeping Gears. "aww, He's even cute when he's asleep." She walked out the tent and stretched.

Gears woke up a little bit after. He rubbed his eyes and looked at the now empty spot.

"Darn, awake already?"

He got up and grabbed his cap. He put it on and stretched. He walked over to the area where his scarf lay, and grabbed it. He walked outside, and saw Electro stretching.

"Good morning... Beautiful."

Gears was really just trying to find a good compliment, and that was the first thing that came to his mind.

"W-well, I slept good as usual, but it was even better with you sleeping next to me..." He is still blushing, but looks over and sees she's eating bad apples. "Uh, wouldn't you like something fresher? I've got apples from Sweet Apple Acres if you want one." He goes over and gets one out, showing her.

"I... Um..."

 

Shade looked at the red apple, then looked at her apple...

"I'm use to not eating much, I didn't eat a lot when I was a filly... And... Um..."

"Sure"

 

She throws her bad apple into the bushes, and dumped her sattle bag that was filled with rotting apples.

Dox smiles as she takes it, watching her happily munch away. After a moment or so, he says, "Hey, I think that we need to go find the others. Which means, sadly, since I'm the only pony here to know your secret, you need to go back into pony form..." He gives her a smile. "And don't worry, we can sneak away after a while again and you can change back, ok?"

shade shakes her head and stomps her hoof on the ground, once her hoof toughed the ground green fire surounded it and quickly made its way up shades body changing her back to her pony forum.

shade felt more confident about being in her changeling forum but wasnt ready to go show it off in the public.

Dox walked up to her and put his hoof around her shoulders. "Still good looking, you know that?" He smiled and gave her a quick peck on the cheek before letting her go and starting to walk towards the direction of the others. "C'mon, let's go!" He picked up speed a little bit.

Dashie Turned around and saw that Gears had woken up So she went over and hugged him. "good morning "sweetie pie"" she giggled at her own compliment. "so. How did you sleep? Because i slept like a filly. But then again I was sleeping with you." she said blushing.

Gears smiled ad hugged her back.

"I slept fine. This time, I had two things I could hug."

He let go of her and looked around.

"Darn, everypony is still in the cave. What should we do? Shall we head back into the cave or find something else to do?"

Gears looked around once more and then looked her in the eyes.

"Alright." She said in response. Firebolt looked down either side of the tunnel cautiously. While this is the everfree forest and all, I highly doubt there's anything here. Maybe I should investigate when he falls asleep... She thought, stretching her wings a bit.

Dashie yawned again. "well we could. But I'm going to have my morning flight." she ran to the cliff face and leaped off. "this is why I chose a cliff!" she yelled mid fall. she readjusted herself so that she was upright as she plummeted. She fell until she was a few feet above the ground before she spread her wings, allowing the wind to bring her up in a smooth curve. As she flew she could feel a tingling in the gaps between her feathers, short electrical current which gave her that boost to keep going. After a few minutes of Ariel trick she landed on the ground. She flicked her at the base of the cliff, sending a green bolt of charged static down at the ground. She made sure her wings were closed before heading back over to Gears.

She wasn't too keen on meeting the other ponies but... She just stuck by dox.

Thunder laid his head down on the floor of the cave and closed his eyes. He still felt like he was doing something wrong by sleeping, but if she really wanted him to, he would try to get at least a little sleep. As tired as he was, he wasn't able to fall asleep immediately. He couldn't stop thinking about the beautiful mare standing over him. Eventually, however, he drifted off to sleep.

They walked for a short time, stepping over logs and around boulders, and for a moment, Dox thought they would show up in camp, but they didn't. "Uh oh... Uh, Shade, don't panic, but... I think that I got us lost..." He looks down sadly. "I'm sorry... I didn't mean to get us lost in Everfree..."

Shade raised her eyebrow then flaped her wings and flew overtop the trees and saw smoke from the fire. She flew back down, "it's this way" she said walking back the way they came ending back at the camp sight.

 

"Woohoo... We're back... Now what?" She asked with a slight bit of annoyance.

Gears was impressed and strangely turned on by all this. He smiled.

"That was mighty impresseive. I've never seen anything like it- well, something similar got me kicked out of Baltimare... But that not important. That was really cool."

Then, his impulsive side took over.

Gears covered his mouth. He had no control over it, and turned the brightest shade of red.
