okay thats much different than what I thought. My character shoots his normally weak magic into a normal or "empty" ruby, then the ruby amplifies that magic. He will probably think about harnessing that energy to be stored in ruby powered machines. While I see your character is finding and using already magical gems for power.

 

please do correct me if I'm wrong about your magic gems but I think that's a great idea nonetheless.

 

Your method is closer to mine. However, Addem harnesses magical residue left over from a unicorn's use of magic and channels that into the gemstone.

 

However, he does modify his gemstones in order to make them able to hold as much magic as they do, so you're sorta right.

 

Then I've come to the realization that Hex has finally found what she is looking for...if only she could get it from you two....hummmm

 

Addem would be more than willing to share. Problem is, you'd need to go to him for refills.

 

i like that idea, but i think they should formally present it. OR only one of them presents it out of a thirst for fame and he will be blamed for the Apocalypse. Or if they both present they both will be blamed.

 

Addem's rather shy and doesn't have many connections, so I don't see him publishing anything soon.

So my character will announce it to the public, but he also believes that he cannot share the magic until the machine is complete. 

Also I assume they will demonstrate the machine in a contained area, but somepony destroys whatever is containing the machine without us knowing. Then when it is used it turns out to be extremely dangerous OR sabotaged but if it were sabotaged it would lead to a lot more tensions among ponies..

Hey guys! I won't be making posts anywhere on the forum for most of the day today, im traveling to Knoxville with a friend, we've got stuff to take care if down there. I'm pretty sure there'll be wifi at the hotel, so I won't be absent the whole day!

Kind of difficult to think of how a wandering earth pony gets into "New Science". As for the plotline I don't really have any questions so far other than it really seems interesting.

 

I apologize for the double post but would there be any complaints if my OC was one of the Maintenance crew for "New Science"? He won't be working on everybody's inventions but just basically maintaining lights and help set up the stages for everypony's invention. If there is a problem with this then I can think of something else.
