gaming My Broken (Haunted?) Copy of Pokemon Blue

Harmonic Revelations

Did you try blowing on it? . . .

If I recall correctly, old cartridge games have small watch batteries in them. This allows them to have an internal clock and store data when the unit is powered down. (They didn't have such advanced solid state memory back then.) The battery is probably dying, would explain the slow music and screwed up game clock.

In fact, here we go: Exhibit A:

Holy hell, this is pretty creepy. It seems a bit unrealistic to be honest, but I don't think this is something you'd joke about Harmonic. I've heard of Gameboy games glitching if dropped or having liquid spilled onto it but this seems alot stranger. The worst that's happened to me is in Yellow when Brock would spew out infinite lines of incomprehensible dialogue. Anyway, this is very interesting, and I'll be following up on this topic.

Yes, it is Missingno. Also, I found something that has kind of shaken me. I'm not really sure how this happened but I started it up like normal and this happened, then the game froze. :

This sprite was removed from the game. It was supposed to be a thief for Team Rocket at one point or another, but they removed it. (I'm 99% sure, at least).

As for the date, that's fucking creepy.

I'm not the kind that would joke about this. I was inspecting the cartridge and noticed something small was stuck inside, I'll try to pull it out. I can't really tell what it is at the moment.

That's kinda neat.

At first I thought this was gonna be one of those creepypastas where someone is like " My Pokemon red/blue/yellow is haunted! Yeah, it had like demons and stuff in it!" then when asked for proof it's like "my grandma/mom/dad/dog sold it in a garage sale." I mean I'm still a little iffy because sounds can be so very easily modified with computer programs.

If the sound really is off I would attribute it to getting jostled around. My gold cartridge got josstled and sounded off compared to my blue, but it's a game difference as well.  *shrug* Who knows. Games especially cartridges can get shotty real easy.

*edit*

WAIT.

NO.

I hate to be the neigh-sayer but I call BULL.

I have seen those screenshots tons of times in youtube videos, and all over the internet. Used in creepypastas almost all the time. They are computer edited images and game mods made online. Everyone who has used these screenshots claimed their game was haunted. This is total bullcrap. Sorry to have to point that out.

I bought ages ago a Emerald gameboy game cartridge and thought it was going to be great, then at the beginning it said "Eternal battery run dry but game can be played but clock based events will no longer occur." The music sounded fuzzy and if the game cartridge was dropped the game deleted. Well what a strange game...

No, they aren't. Find me one use of a screenshot I've shown in this thread. Find me one. It makes me upset that you don't believe me about this. All of these screenshots were taken by me. Find just ONE that is somewhere else. I dare you, I double dare you, I TRIPLE dare you.

The screenshot with the old man where he is asking "what is that white hand on your shoulder?" you claim you took that from your game correct? Because I have seen that image dozens upon dozens of times. I can easily find that for you, you said in an earlier post that was from your game? Lemme know exactly what you want me to find.

Find me any of the screenshots. Find me an EXACT copy of any of these screenshots. You will not, and can not find one because I took those myself. If you keep claiming you've seen it before, where is your evidence?

I'm just a little bit mad that I'm being accused of lying.

Oh my goodness!!! I don't have to find you an exact screenshot to prove these are fake! I found where you edited one of them from! It's so obvious! I'm going to redline it and post it for you. (; You edited, and pasted the text from the one with the old man. It's blurry and the resolution is not that of what an exact screenshot taken from a game would be. I'm about to disprove you, nice try though. Would make for a cute creepypasta! ;D One second, love! I'll post it for you!

You cannot prove they're fake because they are real. If you disbelieve me, then I'll post the video proof to show you that it's real. I'm actually recording right now so I'll probably be a while.

In this spot is where the oldman in Japanese would be drunk and hungover, and in the American version would be tired and needed coffee is a scene many of us are familiar with. Which is one of the reasons I could easily call bologna on this. I also circled the corners which were blurred then seem to have like...an attempted re-pixel look going on which is not characteristic of a glitch. Glitches on the original gameboy and gameboy color were pixlized messes, not blurry. The 8-18bit pixels featured were not capable of creating a blurry box like that. And if you do argue that the blurriness is from resizing, then why isn't the whole image blurry just the text box? I'm not trying to be mean, or put you on blast. It's just so obvious to me.

at 0:28 is where that very text box is taken from.

If you post a video to prove to me, with all the scenes you posted, no pauses of the gameplay, that would be very interesting.

Your point is irrelevant. I had to resize and I used the Sharpen Tool that is available in Paint.Net. This causes color lightening and tries to remove blur. I'd also like you to disprove the other screenshots.

If you think I'm still pulling this out of no where I can take your other photos and show they're fakes as well. I don't take too kindly to people trying to pull the wool over people's heads. If that's true, why is only the stolen text box resized and blurry? (;

Disprove my others, you can't. They're all consistent and very, very legitimate. As is the old man one, it's because of the sharpen tool which messes with the pixels, If you want, i can demonstrate how it works in this thread.

I know very well how the sharpen tool works, post the original that you didn't sharpen then so I can see how the pixels correlate. As a pixel artist I can tell when pixels are of in images, and "sharpened" or not, something's fishy with that.

I think most of the drama from this creepypasta comes from Azalea trying to disprove Harmonic Revelations and calling him/her a fluke.

The original games did not have clock related events. They did however probably have a cell coin battery that allows you to save data and if it would come to fail god only knows what kind of weird stuff could happen. Otherwise it would either work perfectly fine (charged) or not at all (completely discharged). But if you get in between the VOL and VOH that's when everything starts getting messed up.

I'm actually gonna call Bull too on those screenshots. And the audio as well, there's no way the ROM data could be corrupted, as it is a physical masked applied at the time of pressing the chip. It could sound messed up at run time if communication glitches between the CPU and the APU (e.g. The screeching noise when your N64 crashes) but you cannot possible have harvested this data from the cartridge, as it would have sounded just fine.

Source: I'm studying electrical engineering and actually know this stuff.

I don't mind creepypastas, I find them super interesting. I just find it bizarre when people try to make stuff up and claim it's real when I can source where the images and such are from. I wasn't trying to make drama, or anyone upset, if I did I am sorry. But I'm glad you're a smarty-pants and get where I'm coming from

So I got the item that was stuck in the cartridge out, it appears to be a bullet of some type. I'm no ballistics expert so I can't say too much about it at the moment.

Not even joking, this all sounds just like a creepypasta I watched on youtube. The only bullet that would fit within a game cartridge would be a BB gun pellet! Yeesh you gotta be joking, man!

I found the significance of the name Robert B. I made the text red for easy viewing, this surprised me to. This was a casualties listing for WW2. Please ignore Private First Class Butts, even though he is directly under Robert Brown. This is a very shocking thing to find for me. Someone actually pointed it out to me via PM.

That's cool and all, but what relevance does it have to this situation? Honestly it seems like some random fact you spit out to somehow justify yourself. Not saying you're lying or anything, but I interpret your logic here as faulty.

It might be faulty logic. I am just perplexed by it considering that the county he's from is not only in my state but not very far away at all. In fact, I've been there before.

All I can say is that if my dog sold a game cartridge at a garage sale, I would find that much more disturbing than anything that a game cartridge does.
