planning Crossing Paths (a learning RP)

Okey dokey, I think I fixed the first post, and added a link to the RP thread as well. I'm afraid to get rid of those paragraph tags, though. XD

(and to explain my OOC comment on the RP thread,)

I'm used to hitting enter a billion times while Minecraft and Steam-chat RPing. It was honestly hard to keep myself in quasi-paragraph form. So I have to ask, is it acceptable for me to make my posts as Azure has?

It's honestly a matter of opinion. One thing that might help you cut down on line making is if you have each new thing your character does in a single paragraph, including all spoken words and actions in it. When the character kind of moves on from a topic, start a new paragraph. I'm not sure if I'm explaining it well, but you'll see me doing something like this quite often in my RPs. And if you want, here's a link to another RP I'm in with what I'm attempting to describe.

*EDIT: And like this RP, I'm playing as Pinoak.

I agree with LeJakoJak,

Personally I think the line by line is a bit distracting, everything seems to be coming out in chunks rather than flowing together. As I have said, I am not a professional RPer, but I think it would be more effective if one tries to keep it "story-book" style if you will.

Now I probably will write "line by line" sometime, but overall I would suggest a more thorough description. Maybe keep all the action of one moment together - separate if there is dialogue - then continue with the next action. This is the style that I am going for, and if anyone would like to post comments or constructive criticism I would be most grateful! laugh.png

Yeah, that sounds pretty good. I'll try to aim for that style now as well, seems like it would work best.

I also like the speech coloring... Makes everything a bit more pleasing to the eye as long as the colors have decent contrast against the background. (Good for keeping track of who's talking to who, as well. XD)

To answer symphonia's question in- rp, just look for things that seem suspicious. Perhaps an odd group of ponies, or strange activity. There isn't really any solid information on the threat.

Sooo... We should just make it up as we go? Who will be the one to determine the "bad thing" that is happening? What if we disagree?

Well, I suppose this could be part of the learning curve as we test out what's right or wrong as far as RP etiquette goes huh.png

To be honest, I'm still deciding exactly what the threat is, and I have a few ideas. But I'm staying flexible. If the rp takes an interesting turn, we can flow with it. If not, I'll spice things up a bit.

I just want to make sure everypony is ok with the direction the RP is taking. I thought I could spice things up a bit by finding "an old scroll". I honestly have no idea what it is or what it's for, so Pinoak suggested that it be an adventure-type story.

As long as everypony can figure out a way to become a part of the plot, I think it could be interesting! Please post if you have any cool story ideas laugh.png

I have to drop out on this roleplay before getting the chance of posting. My work surprised me and i just don´t have the time for another roleplay. I wish you much fun with roleplaying here and i hope that this roleplay will be alive forever. See you all.

Not exactly sure about this but isn't standoff being a bodyguard or something of that sort. Why would he be doing the exact same thing my oc is doing? Wouldn't my oc notice someone around the area watching the same target?

I'm a quiet bodyguard. I'm supposed to be an unnoticed presence so I don't scare the guests. Hurp.

Wouldn't it be more interesting if you found some other suspicious pony that actually  posed a possible treat. i mean if were both looking at the same dude who isn't a threat at all-doesn't that just seem pointless.

You didn't even elaborate on who you are guarding. Bodyguards are supposed to protect their client from trouble at a moments notice. They usually don't go around looking for the trouble themselves.

Unless you are me than you should always be looking for a quick bit unless you know you can't get away with it. jk laugh.png but maybe give the RP some time to see what each pony is really doing there?

I'm going to post my performance later today. I'm working on it right now. Hope you don't mind waiting!

Update: Sorry the post is taking to long. I just got slammed tonight, so it should be finished tomorrow. Sorry about the delay.

Hey everypony! I have a couple questions about the RP:

1.) Does anypony know how this is going to tie up? It seems to me that we have two different story-lines going; Pinoak and Kismet - and - everypony else. I don't want anypony to feel out of the story so I just want to make sure that there is a way to include everypony.

**Sorry about the overflow of "pony" references** img-1315080-1-tongue.png

2.) Also, where is the map/instructions/riddle/scroll going to take us? Will there be danger? Is there another evil band of ponies who (for some reason) also have interest in puppeteering? Maybe the journey is more fun than the destination....
