Having been freaked out, EB began to slowly back away before stopping as he thought, "Yet another has fallen... How... How much longer must this madness last...?"

Crystal approached the griffin and began to surround his injuries with her magic shields, stopping the bleeding. "I can hold him stable, or should be able to for a bit." She put a shield around the group, making it so that they could come and go through it as they pleased. "I'll stay here and keep him alive. You guys go to get something or someone to heal him."

*Mercer looked up at Cloud.*

"You......... Im going to die........... Take, *Cough* take my pendant............ once you have yours......... *hack* ...... your loyalty....... bring it together with my pendant............ it purify my element of betrayal..... and it will form a new element........... the element.............. of Brotherhood."

*Mercer said these words, then his eyes rolled back into his head, and he died.*

Lightning looked over to Crystal and nodded in agreement. "Yes, we should get somepony to help him out", Lightning started, "I think I'd rather stay here with you, though. I'd like to look around the place where my element was kept before leaving..."

Cloud looked to Nidal, "We need to find medical supplies out in the markets, you know your way through the markets better than any of us, I'll go with you to help carry the supplies, Ampyrion, EB, Lunatic, keep watch, we dont know who else might be lurking" he then walked to the exit waiting for Nidal.

Nidal nodded and flew off, out of the building and towards the marketplace. "I have no idea what his injuries are, so I'm going to have to buy anything and everything that he might need."

"Ahh!" Ampyrion lurched out of the rubble. "Sorry, sorry, don't attack, it's me," he yelped hastily as the other ponies turned warily. "Sorry, I was doing something important, I lost track of the time."

*Mercer was having great trouble breathing. The knife had punctured his lung and his wound was bleeding profusely.*

Crystal coated his internal organs with the same protection that was around his body, allowing him to breath normally. When she saw the injury, she knew he would not be able to be saved... and began to cry silently by his side. That was two that she couldn't save in the matter of days.

*Mercer's pendant began to glow, and an apparition appeared for all to see, for the very first time. It was another griffon, he looked exactly like Mercer, only he was bigger, and missing an eye. Mercer's father, Malak. The original bearer of the Element of Betrayal.*

"I would believe that your group may need my assistance in saving my son."

Lightning saw the sadness is Crystal's eyes. She flew over to Crystal and wrapped a wing around her. "Don't worry, everything will be alright. If he doesn't live, we will avenge his death. We can defeat Discord with the power of friendship (Gosh, I sound so freakin' cheasy...)" Lightning said to the mare.

 

(Well, I was ninja'd. Let's just say my post was before Apollo's, ok? That would make it easier on me...)

Crystal looked at Lightning, still crying. She shook her head and diverted her attention back to Mercer. "Avenging his death won't bring him back to life. There's a difference between living and avenging someone's death; a great difference. You can't substitute one for the other."

 

The ghost spoke and she looked at him. She said a single word: "How?"
