"That's truly a disconcerting idea, considering that I've never heard of anyone actually defeating a hydra, just being able to escape from it," Lionheart replied as he followed Night Flare. "Let's go get Firebolt and get moving before we find out the hard way whether the Myst can infect it or not." He took off, trying not to imagine the havoc a dark hydra would be able to wreak. Princess Luna would likely have more answers when they arrived, but he figured it best to not waste time.

Night Flare flew towards Firebolt's house. All of the lights were turned off. He then knocked on the door and waited for Firebolt to answer. He then turned to Lionheart. "The problem with hydras is that, if you chop off one of its heads, two more heads grow in the place that old head was." Night Flare said. He then turned back to face the door.

Firebolt jumped at the sound of someone knocking on the door. It was rare anyone would, considering she almost always kept most of the lights in her house off, and even rarer now, due to quite a lot of ponies avoiding outdoors. Looking out the small glass window near her door, she saw two stallions. 

 

Firebolt trotted up and opened the door slightly, just enough to stick her head out and quietly ask "Hello...?".

"Hello, I am Night Flare." Night Flare introduced himself. He then explained to Firebolt that Ponyville was in danger of a mysterious fog known as the Black Myst. He stated that the evil foe who let out the Black Myst wants to control everypony and rule over the land. He also stated that anypony engulfed in the Black Myst will be tormented by fear and nightmares.

Firebolt tried to smile a bit, but ended up coming off as nervous. "Uh... You may have the wrong house." She said, taking a step back. "I wouldn't know how to help with that." Firebolt tried to smile again, and backed up a bit more, hoping the stallions would go away.

"But Princess Luna said you were one of the strongest around here. You were chosen by her and we can't go to her without you." Night Flare said. He wouldn't leave until Firebolt came. He then thought about what would happen if Firebolt didn't come. Time would be wasted and the Black Myst would come closer to Ponyville. Night Flare continued to wait.

Firebolt sighed realizing he was serious. Though she didn't know what she was good enough at to be able to help with such things. "Well... I suppose I could help..." She sighed, stepping out from her house and closing the door with her hoof, though keeping her ears back and head down slightly.

"Alright! We've got everypony!" Night Flare said happily. "Now, let's go meet the others and head on over to Princess Luna's castle." Night Flare said rising into the air and heading down to Ponyville. There he made sure everyone was there. He then waited for Firebolt to come down.

Firebolt followed and flew down, landing on the regular ground, where she hadn't been in quite a while. The random assortment of five ponies didn't make much sense, but it was, according to the stallion, Princess Luna's wish. Just as odd was that Princess Luna was the one giving the orders, but she tried not to think about it very hard.

"Looks like this is everyone. Okay, as I've mentioned before, the Everfree Forest is blocked by the Black Myst within it. Let's head over to Froggy Bottom Bog." He said as he made a map of Equestria appear. As they were getting closer to Froggy Bottom Bog, Night Flare thought about the hydra that dwelt in that place.

Lionheart flew with Firebolt and Night Flare towards Froggy Bottom Bog. He had forgotten the information about the Hydra from when he was younger, but was glad that Night Flare reminded him. So everypony was assembling at Princess Luna's castle on the far side of the bog, but getting past the Hydra was something they'd have to deal with when the time came. He thought of himself as a fast and agile flyer, but he knew that wouldn't be enough against a Hydra. "So, do we have a plan for getting through the bog without attracting unnecessary attention? After all, it's probably best to avoid combat unless necessary. Discretion is the better part of valor, after all."

"Um...if I'm not interrupting... I 'think' I could use a temporary Invisibility spell on you...all of you..." Purple Pat spoke out. "But, it will last for-only 2 minutes at best" she said thoughtfully. "...um, well, it's up to you..." she continued, flustered once. She lowered her head and began pawing the ground once more.

"I already know an invisibility spell. I also know a spell that deepens the sleep of someone to the point they can't even hear someone just randomly passing by." Night Flare said. "But we won't need it, because the hydra lives underwater, in the murky swamp waters of Froggy Bottom Bog. No need to worry." Night Flare said.

"That's a pretty good idea, Miss. I think we can fly fast enough to make it past the bog, but I've never tried moving that quickly with a unicorn coming along with us," Lionheart replied to Purple Pat. "Night Flare, you're sure that hydra can't hear us? What about a spell that can deaden the sounds of our moving?"

"Our best chance is a flight over froggy bottom bog. But, it appears that somepony is missing something. He then turned to Purple Pat and his horn lit up. He then put a spell on her that gave her true Pegasus wings, which lasted until Ponyville is safe again, meaning all the time they are trying to stop the evil foe. "There, that should do it. And if you're wondering how I learned that spell...I taught myself. I was actually never taught magic." Night Flare said. 

[Flying Ace 142]

"That sounds like a fantastic Idea we should leave that sleep spell just in case the hydra comes after us." Ace said as the group neared Froggie Bottom Bog. "Who else has a plan? It doesn't hurt to be careful." Ace said looking around among the group of ponies.

"Oh wow--" Purple Pat exclaimed as she spread her wings. "This--this is amazing!" she cried. She turned to face Night Flare. "Th-thank you..." she continued..she had always wanted to have wings. To just fly away when things got rough. But she you this isn't an option now...now, she--they had to save Equestria from the Black Myst. "I'm so ready!" Purple Pat added, stretching her wings.

Soon, they arrived at Froggy Bottom Bog. "Alright, I just came up with a brilliant plan. I have a silent shield spell that when cast, engulfs anypony within a certain radius in a shield in which anything, any creatures cannot hear it." Night Flare said. He then lit his horn and the shield engulfed around him and everyone else. "Now, we must stay together, because the shield is like a bubble, if stretched too far, it will break. Fortunately, the deepening spell is now in effect so the Hydra still won't be able to hear us if something goes wrong." Night Flare said.

Lionheart watched Night Flare. "That's pretty impressive work, teaching yourself magic. Most unicorns need or want a teacher, especially for spells like that one. Still, I won't argue with the results, because now we can get past the Hydra a little easier. Miss, ((I don't think my character knows her name yet)) I'd try those wings out so you can get used to them, and not have to worry about anything happening when you do."

"Well, the truth is, I never had parents, well, when I was born, they left me. I don't know why. I was born in the Everfree Forest. I continued to wander about until I came across an old Shrine, which is where I found this necklace here." Night Flare explained pointing to the necklace around his neck while maintaining the shield. They successfully made it across Froggy Bottom Bog. "Alright! We made it. All that's left is Dusty Cove and then we'll be at Luna's castle." Night Flare said. "Now you could probably try these wings around here..." Night Flare stated looking around and at Purple Pat.

Lionheart looked around as Night Flare worked with Pat. The cove was quiet, which he was glad for. Despite his special talent for helping others and himself find their inner courage, he knew that peace was likely to be coming at a premium in the coming days. He looked forward to hearing Princess Luna's explanation about the Black Myst, as well as some advice about possible ways to avoid letting the Myst reach Ponyville or other nearby areas.

Night Flare started to move forward into the cove. It was all covered with giant willow trees with their drooping branches. This didn't bother him though, for he was used to all of the scary looking trees. The light of the moon could still be seen despite the large willow trees.

Lionheart followed Night Flare. He noticed the moon, and started humming "By the Light of the Silvery Moon" very softly to himself as he went ((Look it up, it's really old, but it's a good song)). He stopped humming shortly after, realizing that even a slight out of place noise could alert something to their presence. "So where is everyone else, Night Flare? Are they waiting for us at the castle?"

"They're coming. Night Flare said. 

(OOC: I guess you said that because the others haven't posted in a while)

He then stopped and waited. He then thought about the Black Myst that was continuing to inch closer and closer to Ponyville. "Come on! Where are they?" He said stomping his hoof on the ground.

"Um, sorry 'bout that" Purple Pat called out. "I was too...um...busy prepping my wings...th-thanks again..." she mumbled out. Back to where she was situated, Purple Pat arched her back and spread out her newly formed wings. "I'm going now!" she said, almost to herself. After a few flying precautions were taken, she flew straight to wherever she thought Night Flare and the others were.
