I'm waiting for the Rashomon episode...

The characters seem perfect (to me) to take advantage of a plot like this. For those unfamiliar, see:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rashomon_effect

The Cutie Mark Chronicles *kind of* does this...but we don't see a lot of the ponies' impressions of the other ponies around them - just the fact that a single event unified them.

I'm talking about, for example, Rainbow Dash going, "That's not how it happened!", doing a flashback, and the viewer seeing the world through her eyes. Maybe she hears Twilight as saying "Blah, blah, study, study..." when she talks, Applejack: "Apples, apples, kick a tree, kick a tree..." Rarity going, "My outfits! My hair!", Spike going, "Her outfits...her hair...", or something like that.

That'd be a fun episode to watch! It'd be perfect for a mystery episode. It also has the potential to uncover some quirks we may have never known existed.

Dude, I love episodes like this!

I'm not so sure about it being a mystery episode, though, but perhaps one where the Mane Six get in a fight over who's remembering something wrong and who's remembering it right.

"MMMystery on the Friendship Express" already used the "mystery episode" plot line up. Doing it again would feel rather redundant.

I could see this, it would be fun from what I've seen of shows doing that.

X-Files did it once an it turned out pretty funny to see the way each character precived things.

Not a fan of mysteries? It would truly be redundant if they used the same plot or location or investigators. Mystery is just a style.

That was one of my favourite episodes! I loved the buck teeth and how Scully saw Mulder as lazy, but he saw her as kinda whiny.

The part I remember is how Mulder saw the sheriff as a goofy hick, but Scully saw his as a handsome country hero, I guess that shows something about Mulder XD.

And the way Mulder's crazy theories were taken up to 11 in her version.

I'm kind of surprised they haven't already done the Rashomon thing. Although the Mane 6 are probably enough as is, if they're also doing the mystery solving thing, it could be funny to see the world through the eyes of an oddball like Trixie or Iron Will or Discord or Lightning Dash or somebody. A mystery also allows them to do the Scooby Do thing where Rainbow Dash keeps jumping the gun and fingering (hoofing?) the wrong former antagonist. Which could naturally segue into them giving their version of events.

They already did that, in MMMystery on the Friendship Express, except Pinkie Pie was the accuser.

If they do this episode, though, I'd prefer they do it in the "each person offers a limited portion of the truth" like the movie Vantage Point, rather than the "each person embellishes to make themselves look good" version of the trope, which is somewhat tired, IMO.

That's how I'd imagined it, too.

Funny episode! I still wish they'd gotten Hank to flip out even more...

I think it'd work if ONE pony embellished, and the rest didn't. As soon as she's done with her account, they all give her "the look" and move on. cool.png

Welp, seems like the perfect time to bump this one from 2013. :D

Who's excited for tomorrow's episode?
