Diamond walked up behind Draco and hit him over the back of the head. "Don't you ever put your life on the line for me. I am a grown mare who can handle herself and I don't need anypony to protect me. That was very sweet of you darling but we haven't even started traveling yet. Doing things like that this early is a bad idea." She said.

 

 

 

Three mare's watched the battle closely from the Everfree forest. One was a normal yellow with an orange mane. The other was a lime green with a dark green mane. And the other was a bright orange with a fiery red mane, they all had the same vacant expression on their face and when the battle ended, all three turned around and walked back into the woods, as if they could care less about what had happened.

Draco rubbed his head slightly "What is it beat on the poor courier pony day sheesh. I mean sure I was reckless but it's apart of my charm," Draco said the last part with a joking manner. "Anyhow I think we stayed to long here we better get moving it's light out now so we'll be able to see what the next clue to where we'll be able to go next," Draco said as he grabbed a few packs

Dimitri looked around the surrounding area. "What should we do with the corpse of this monster." He said openly as he kicked the cadaver and swore in Sovestrian. "That was excruciating. I really hope that there are not more of these cultists. At least not magically powerful. Such a wear on my mind." He took a deep breath and felt the locket around his neck. "That was awful. Did anypony else get affected by the ill magic?"

Delia walked over to Draco after trying to help Acheron with no luck. "Are we leaving now? This is good, i was getting quite restless." She said as she looked at the other ponies of the group. She hadn't been paying attention to the others,she was more enthralled with the liquor.

"Aye I did but I focused on one thing well let's just say I don't want to get zapped again," Draco said "now if you'll excuse me for a moment," Draco walked off and began to curse in zebracan. He was putting some numbing ointment but still he was cursing like a sailor pony. "Phew I'm okay," Draco said as he walked back to the manor. Draco looked at Delia "And your drunk Delia seriously?" Draco said as he picked her up gently.

Thankfully Acheron was not experiencing any fatigue like he expected. It seemed that what he did to the Seneschal had recharged him, which he was quite thankful for since using that much magic in his condition would have put him in a more serious condition.

"There are more of them," Acheron said grimly as he walked closer to the group. "And I don't think they're going to be any less worse than the General of Greed."

Acheron levitated the corpse and began to disentigrate it.

"I do hope you all fared well though..."

"Well besides the horrid mental pain, and the wrath I feel building up in the back of my mind I'm perfectly fine." Dimitri, surprisingly without any sarcasm meant, said aloud. "I say we should get going soon. I'm over the pain, but I'd like to start making real progress before I snap. The Seneschal might have made me do evil things, but it wasn't all him. I could tell that I was in nearly complete control of myself."

 

Dimitri gave a grim look, but quickly reverted back to his normal self. "Yeah, let us proceed..."

"Besides me getting shocked by a red lighting bolt nah I'm fine still hurts even after applying ointment to it. I think we better be more guarded from now on but still be friends about it. Honestly Acheron be careful my friend alright," Draco said with a smile on his muzzle but anypony could tell that he was worried about his friends.

"You'd be right in that sense," Acheron grimly told Dimitri. "The Seneschal was using a projection of himself to feed you those images as you know, but also to target your deepest desires and turn them against you... Still though, you managed to resist him, no easy task for the amount of strength he was using."

Acheron turned towards Draco and pointed to Diamond.

"She's good with healing spells if you're that pained by it."

Diamond nodded. "Come here sweet prince, let me heal your wounds." She said, approaching Draco as her horn lit up with a purple magical aura, but this time it was softer...like when she had healed Acheron...the magic seemed warm and soft rather than when she was summoning the fire...that looked dark and dangerous.

"Well I think I like this treatment. I mean a beautiful nurse by my side," Draco said with a slight laugh "Nah I'm just joking I think you are beautiful though Diamond. Well your like your namesake," he said with a whisper into her ear. He smiled slightly as his fur around his cheeks lightened up.

Dimitri looked at the healing going on. "If you wouldn't mind, I'll fix myself up. I never liked magical healing. Some stitches and alcohol are all I need." He examined his body to see and feel his wounds. "Just a little bruising, and maybe I need a few stitches on my forehead." He reached in his pocket and took out his flask. "Fire Whiskey might be weak, but a drink is a drink..."

 

He took a nip from the flask and waited for the others to regroup and start to create a battle plan.

Diamond smiled at Draco before his wounds were surrounded in a purple magic.
Moments later the wounds had scabbed over and the paint was gone, only to be replaced by a slight numbness.

She turned towards Dimitri and stared at him for a moment. "You do know that Magic is painless, it heals it faster, and it cleans it better than any potion...right ?" She said.

"Diamond it's alright Dimitri he doesn't like magic. I understand but it's his tale to tell," Draco said as he placed a wing over Diamond's back gently. He shook his head telling her no. "The more serious wounds I usually help him out with but he usually goes to his Fluttershy. Lucky guy to know love,"

"Of course I know that. You should know me by now though miss. I happen to love the sensation of pain, and a needle and thread going through my skin. Pour some alcohol on the wound, and then I'm done. I've been doing it since I was a colt." Dimitri grinned at Diamond, and took another nip from his flask.

 

He took the flask and poured it on the open wound on his arm. "Almost nothing feels better than that." He smirked and then looked at Draco. "Kidding me? I've helped you with wounds before! You've seen me pop my shoulder back in place a couple times already. You should know about me too comrade." He chuckled.

Acheron nodded in agreement with Diamond.

"I'd recommend that you accept. We need to be one-hundred percent well and ready for anything now, because like I said the challenges up ahead will not be getting any easier."

Waiting for responses Acheron shook his head in slight annoyance towards Diamond and Draco.

"Either way, shall we get moving, or must we stop and nuzzle each other every five minutes?"

"Suit yourself." She said, shrugging. She wondered how Fluttershy and Dimitri actually met...they seemed like total opposites...but they were a very cute couple and were both quite sweet. "We should get going...I would like to have gotten just a little sleep...but its too late for that now."

Draco laughed as he heard Dimitri say that. "So true my friend. So anyhow I can teach you afew techniques the zebras taught me to fight against mental assault. For instance you can sort your memories into various 'Doors' and when the enemy manages to get passed your shields well you shove them into your worst memories," Draco explained two techniques. Draco was looking at Diamond's flanks once more. He chuckled slightly as he caught himself. "Stop it Draco," he thought to himself.

"Hey, I am not drunk. I have consumed worse things than this alcohol." Delia said. She started to walk towards to and out the front door of Draco's mansion. "i might need a few things before we head out. If we are unable to stop, I have some things i can use to make what i need."

Dimitri chuckled, and then grew rather stern. "I agree with Acheron. The lovey-dovey, as you say, feeling is keeping us back. When I am reunited with my beloved or we have a single clue as to what we are doing then you can all do whatever you want. Until then though, let us proceed with the mission. I'm getting anxious to move."

 

He rolled his eyes and took another nip from his flask. "Ah damn. This stuff is so weak. At least it tastes okay..." He got himself up and began to pace in circles. "I'll be there soon.." He whispered.

"Well tell me Delia," Draco said as he looked at the zebra. "Tell me what you need my friend," Draco said as he looked into her eyes as he ruffled his feathers slightly. "Well we do need to get going. Anyhow Delia what do you think about Acheron hmm?" Draco asked with a teasing tone.

Acheron raised an eyebrow at Dimitri's comment about a clue.

"Surprisingly, I think... I know I have a solid lead..."

Acheron pointed towards the Everfree forest in the distance, now not so intimidating due to the sunrise.

"We had a general idea of needing to go in here, and its reasonable why. The Everfree is filled with numbers of forgotten relics of power, mysteries, and vicious creatures to keep away daring explorers. We need to find something there, a type of artifact that will show us the way to our next lead..."

Dimitri took a look at the tree line in the distance. "Any idea of what we are exactly looking for? Or is just a broad idea?" He questioned as he sat back down on the ground playing with his locket. "If we're going there soon, I will need my bag for certain then. Have some important things in it. Irreplaceable Sovestrian things. Is morning now, so I'm certain I'll be safe walking back home alone."

 

He got back up. "You stay here and keep an eye on the flirty birds. Out of this group, you're the most level headed. I might seem it, but.." He laughed. "...you have no idea. I'd normally be strategizing and what not, but this situation is too much stress on me." He started off towards his house.

"I guess the darkness was stronger than I thought," Acheron said quietly to himself as Dimitri headed off. He was thankful for it really, it had served the purpose of concealing certain characteristics of his magic that he felt wasn't the time yet to let the others know.

"Devouring the mind of others has its perks," Acheron thought quietly as he focused on devising a strategy to journey more easily through Everfree. Something nagged on his mind though: No doubt they would all soon begin to question how he obtained this information. Nonetheless, he wrote it off and urged Dimitri to hurry as he sat down and watched his surroundings.

Delia searched in her sack some more. "Well i do need a weapon or two. Preferably a spear and a knife, though i could just make them provided i have the material i need." She said as her hoof hit two sharp objects in her pack. "I would fight with just my hooves, but i don't want to mess up my hooficure." Delia said jokingly. " She then came close to Draco,"Acheron? i haven't really had a chance to get to know him, so i couldn't tell you what i think.
