Star sat up straight again water splashed around the tub as she glared down at Max, growling. "ITS NOTHING." She yelled, fire puffing from her nose. She glared at him for about a minute before her eyes widened. She put a claw to her mouth and fell back into the seat. Water splash around the sides of the tub as tears came from her eyes. "M-Max." She sobbed.

That was probably the loudest Max has ever heard the dragoness scream before. She didn't even yell that loud when she was throwing him off Beat Drop. The fire from her nose washed over him harmlessly-as he was still fireproof...and wet-and he jerked back in surprise. When she began tearing up, Max's eye became slits, and he continued to speak in the dragon dialect.

"That is not like you. You are falling to the vices that claimed me and transformed me into a beast." He went over and began hugging her, stroking her head, while avoiding spikes.

"I have provoked you and caused your outburst, my love. And for that, I am sorry. But I only pressed because I love and care about you. I don't want you to be hurt. I needed to know so I could protect you from it. So the dragon Code of Honor dictates." Max was rarely so emotional-in public places anyway-and in the back of his mind he was grateful that nopony would be able to understand a word he said. He maintained the hug, giving her a shoulder to cry on, as any good mate-dragon or pony-would do.

Star held onto him tightly, letting her head rest in his shoulder as she sobbed. "I don't want to be like this any more, Max. I cant...I hate it." She cried. "This whole bucking day has been just one bad thing after another. I cant take it." She said, taking a deep shaky breath before sobbing yet again.

Max held her close in a loving embrace, letting her sob into his shoulder He continued to stroke her head.

"There was some good that came of todays event/ We joined in an eternal bond that can never be broken. I consider that more than enough compensation for what has happened. I promise, I will free you from your draconic chains. No matter what. I love you, and always will." One wouldn't think dragons to be capable of such feelings, but I suppose, just like everything else. they took love seriously. Nothing that was said was just the dragon in him talking. All that was Max, 100%. Just of a deeper voice and of a different tongue. He place a gentle kiss on her head and continued to let her sob on him, his slit eyes never leaving her.

Lorcan soon received the jewelry he waited for and paid for them. He then strapped the cart to him and took to the skies.

hell this  is heavy. He thought as he made his way back to the island.

Lorcan soon arrived at the island exhausted. He soldiered on as he rushed up to his room hoping Solara was still there.

"Solara! Are you here!?" He yelled as made his way upstairs.

Star gave a small nod. "O-Okay." She replied, taking another shaky breath before letting go of Max. She wiped away her tears then closed her eyes and tried to relax...but that slight pain was back again. It wasn't as bad but it was still there. Star chose to ignore it.

Max tried to relax, but he noticed that Star was still experiencing discomfort. He decided not to pursue, less he risk another incident. Celestia forbid that she ends up like he did. It was possible though. Eventually, Max's eyes and voice returned to normal, and he began speaking English once again. Though the knowledge of the draconic language stayed with him. After the sun was near setting, Max brought Star up to his room and set her up in the bed, telling her to relax and take her mind of her discomfort. He left to see if Lorcan had returned from his trip. The reconstruction could begin tomorrow, but for now, he wanted the key to life's happiness. His ticket to fulfillment. He ran into Lorcan as he was running up the stairs, nearly crashing into him.

"Lorcan, there you are. I have been looking for you. Do you have my...Special Request?" He asked in a hushed tone. He didn't want anypony else to know. Not yet.

"Oh its you, Max.Thought you and Star would be...nevermind. Getting back to..that, here it is." Lorcan said as he handed the package to Max.

"It took a while since it was custom made but here it is. Anything else you need?" Lorcan asked.

Max thought for a moment, thinking of any more requests.

"Eventually Star is going to need one of her cutie mark, but that can be handled later. Thank you Lorcan. Now I just need a plan..." He trailed off and headed back to his room. He held the earring in his wing, and was examining it as he walked. The quality was nothing short of world class. The shield was made of silver, and had an authentic look to it. Small diamonds were used for the rivets at the edge of the shield, and the entire thing was lined in a dark material, almost giving it a cel-shaded look to it. The red cross was formed out of pure fire ruby, and it looked gorgeous. In the center there was a small hole, and Max had an idea. He his the earring in his mane and proceeded into his room. He slipped in, and grabbed the pearl that he gave Star the first day they met, and he slipped back out again. In the hall, he tried to gently insert the pearl into the hole. Amazingly, it is a perfect fit. He double checks to make sure it wont fall out, and gives it a satisfied nod. It nearly mirrored the one from his dream, and the thought of what it represented filled Max with a joy unlike any other. Now all he needed was a plan...But then he remember that Star was a dragon at the moment. Maybe it was best to change her back before proposing. This gave the stallion pause for thought, as he stared at the beautiful earring mirroring his cutie mark. She was feeling discomfort and pain in her abdomen, and was prone to fits of extreme emotion. He pondered what that could mean. He reached for his journal that he kept at all times, and began flipping to the dragon section. He had notes scribbled down, lines cut from books. He saw something like this. What Max read next, made him pale and his eyes shrink in pure horror and fear.

Star noticed Max get up but as she asked where he was going he was already gone. She sighed. "great...now he hates me." She muttered, letting her head fall against he back of the tub. She sighed and closed her eyes.

Lorcan smiled and hugged Solara back.He then reached in his pack,fumbling around in it, and pulled out a wrapped item. He slowly undid the wrapping and pulled away from Solara.He then bowed and presented the diamond horn ring to her. The diamond was bigger than normal diamonds on rings and the actual ring was golden with markings on the inside that read: my saviour.

"Solara, will you do me the honor and marry me?" He said as he presented the ring to her

Max read the differences between males and females in dragon biology. Males were omnivores, capable of consuming vegetation, meat, and gemstones. Females were carnivores, only eating meat with occasional gems. Males only had craving-meat wise-to cows, chicken and pigs. Females show great cravings for ALL meat, including...........pony meat. Max was almost as tempting to Star as that steak, and she gnawed on that raw. Max was in danger of not only losing his true love, but also his life. And those cramps are her stomach demanding meat consumption. No magical connection is going to save him from this. He closed the journal, returning it to the pack he wore-but not in the hot tub, of course-a few tears forming in his eyes. Both out of sorrow, and fear. How was he going to change her back and propose if he was a delicious meal? His skin was pale as well. Eventually he composed himself enough to go back down to the hot tub to Star, putting the earring in the bag. He got there, standing outside the tub.

"H-hey Star. Sorry I-I left, I n-needed to see if Lorcan was back with the s-stuff." He said in the most stable voice he could manage.

(Not what I was thinking of but that doesn't mess around with my idea...in fact it kinda makes it better. But that's not the only reason her stomach hurts)

 

Star instantly noticed something strange about Max. She frowned. "Max...are you okay ? You look like you've seen a ghost." She said, giving him a very worried look as she climbed out of the hot tub. The pain in her stomach was still there but not as bad...she just ignored it.

"I-Its nothing. I j-just got some troubling news." Max said timidly. As she approached, the fear in his eyes grew, but he did his best to hide it. He spoke up a little.

"I-I was wondering, if you were h-having any c-c-cravings. It may b-be why your stomach is hurting you c-cons-s-sintantly." He was trying to keep his composure, but his skin and fur were still pale, and his eyes shrank in fear. Here he was, planning on marrying this dragoness/mare as soon as she was better, and he was now terrified of her. That doesn't mean that he doesn't still lover her. He just fears for his life now as well.

Star gave a small nod. As she climbed from the tub she noticed Max's scared look. "A little...Max...what's...what's wrong ? Why are you looking at me like that ?" She asked, moving towards him. "You know something...what is it ? Max...what's wrong ?" She asked, steadily growing more and more worried as the pain in her stomach got a little worse. She winced but kept focusing on Max...what was wrong ?

Star was getting closer, Max was now visibly shaking. When she was a foot away, Max closed his eye, terror plastered on his face. A few tears dripped from his face. He believed this was it. Moment of truth. End of the line. Any second now, he would feel razor sharp teeth sink into his neck. Then he thought of his mutilated corpse, and how Star would react to his death. To eating him. She would be devastated, destroyed. She might even...might even...That thought brought in a flood of emotion, and Max was now locked in place, standing where he was, quietly-but visibly-sobbing. Fear had overtaken his mind. He stood still, too scared to run, and braced for the end.

She giggled and rolled her eyes slightly.

"Of course, my dear Lorcan. I'll marry you, and then be your wife forever and always."

She giggled again, and presented her horn so that he could put the ring on.

"Solara... you just met this guy... and you're getting married... is it because you think he's different?"

Star slowly reached out to touch Max's shoulder...but seeing her claw made things click. A few tears fell from her eyes as she spread her wings and flew off into the jungle, not looking back. She eventually found the same cave that Max had hidden in earlier. She walked in and curled up in the corner before she started to cry, sobbing into her arm's. Max didn't like her now...and he had reason to.

Scamps walked around the room, whisling a really basic song. She didn't even know what. Everypon yhad scattered, even Nightfall, and now she was alone. Nothing to do, nothong to see. Nopony to be with. She really hoped somepony found her soon and hung out with her. And yet, Solara's words rang in her ears.Accent's stuck like that forever? Why would she do that? Why would she betray mr? I thought we were friends....and if I try to fix it, everything will go wrong.

Max waited for the end, but it didn't come. He opened his blood shot eyes and saw Star fly off. Max's heart hit his stomach. He let fear control him, and now he drove off his love.

"Star? Star! STAR SONG, COME BACK!!" He flew after her, but lost her quickly. He searched frantically, eventually coming to the cave he set up shop in not to long ago. He found Star curled up into a ball crying. This killed Max on the inside. He did this. He. Did. THIS! He began crying himself. the most un-masculine thing he has done-maybe-and he began to speak.

"I-I am s-s-sorry Star. I-I read that females eat p-p-p-ponies, and I let me fear rule me. I am a t-terrible coltfriend." He began walking shakily over to her.

"Y-you deserve somepony better. I-I would make a terrible husband. And a worse father. You deserve nothing less than the best colt in Equestria. In the world even." He stopped sobbing, but tears still came forth. He pulled out the cutie mark earring from his pack, and stared at it for a moment.

"I still want you to have this. It was made for you." He placed it next to her, on a rock. He gave her a gentle kiss on her head, before backing away.

"I love you. And always will. But you deserve better than my sorry flank.' He began to cry again. The magical connection was still present, and was fighting to stay, but Max felt like he was the scum of the earth right now.

"Goodbye Star Song." He chocked out before flying back to his room. That link may be making this hard, but that wasn't the reason that Max was essentially destroyed over this. She was one of the only ponies to ever treat him with kindness, and he loved her more than life itself. But he felt like she needed somepony that could care for her. He reached his room and promptly crumbled on the floor into a crying emotional mess.

Star stared at the earring. Why was Max doing this ? First he's terrified and now he's leaving her. No. She was not going to let this happen.
She stood up and took the earring in her claw. She walked out of the cave and flew back to Max's room to see him laying on the floor. She took a deep shaky breath. "Max. I Would rather kill my self then hurt you. There is no way I could do that to you. You're not a terrible colt friend, you're the best colt friend anypony could ever ask for. Stop doubting yourself." She said.
She felt like if anypony here needed comforting it was her...considering she had just gotten the new's that she could eat her own coltfriend. But...she pushed those feelings back to help Max.

Max heard something fly in and then Star began to speak. Than a voice called in his mind.

"Get a grip on yourself, colt. You are the dominate figure in this bond. You must show strength. Here, allow me to assist." The dragon within came back out, helping Max regain his composure. His eyes and voice changed, he began to talk in draconian, and he actually looked stronger when standing.

"I apologize for the show of weakness and the rash decision made on our part. Emotion can drive us to act hastily. We may not be a prime example of the pony species *if there ever was one* but we shall try the best we can. It is our duty."

"Thanks. I needed that." Max thought.

"It is my pleasure. You have given me life. In turn, I shall give you happiness." Thought the now sentient and independent Dragon Max.

Star...felt even more annoyed now...not that she was really annoyed. "No. I want Max. I don't want a dragon. I want my sweet caring colt who I love...and who I think loves me back. Not...a dragon." She said, moving closer to Max. She put her claw's on either cheek and kissed him. All she wanted was to be told that everything was going to be okay...Max had told her before but she needed to know more than ever now.
