Max noticed some odd behavior in the Nightfall. The behavior in question was centered around Star Song. Now normally in these situations, Max was happy. He loved seeing things like this bloom. But there was a very deep, dormant feeling inside of him that was less than satisfied. It was weak, so he was able to keep it in check. But he wondered what that emotion was. It wasn't good, and seemed to tie into a different, equally elusive emotion. But he pushed it from mind and continued to try and make conversation.

Max felt the cool breeze flowing through his mane...He realized he wasn't wearing his fedora.

"Um, you will have to excuse my appearance, Star. I have never had the most...cooperative mane. I usually wear my family fedora, but I removed it when I went for a swim and forgot to put it back on." Max would have tried to retrieve his fedora, but the heat would just cook his head with it on, so he was going to have to make due.

Star shrugged. "I think you look wonderful, there is no need for apologies. And thank you for helping me with this...um...i'm sorry, I seem to have forgotten your name." She said to the Blue Alicorn...

Beat grinned and held out a hoof. "Beat Drop...the DJ...from Ponyville. This is a nice place you got here."

Beat grinned and held out a hoof. "Beat Drop...the DJ...from Ponyville. This is a nice place you got here."

He chuckled.

"Aw, that's ok. It's Nightfall."

He smiled and looked about, mostly up.

"This place just really does fill you up with a wonderful feeling..."

He trotted off towards the host, with an almost stupid grin on his face. He couldn't tell if it was the setting or the sun, but something was making him feeling fantastic.

In all the 20 years that Max existed in the world, he has never received a positive comment about his mane from anypony other than his parents. So hearing that made Max's face turned an brick red, as it really hit home for him.

"Wow. Thanks. I-I guess I wont be needing my usual outfit for this trip then." He said bashfully. When she couldn't even remember the alicorn's name, Max had a feeling of sorrow for him, but also a feeling of satisfaction. The negative feeling subsided for the most part, but lingered faintly. Meanwhile, the other feeling grew very slightly in strength. He still couldn't put a hoof on what it was, but he figured he would find out eventually.

"So...what are your plans for this vacation Star?" Max asked, redness still lingering on his face.

"I dunno...play a little Violin...and some guitar...swim. Maybe get a little bit of a tan." She said, smiling and looking out at the beach. "Explore...I would love to go snorkeling." She said, looking back at Max.

"I am eager to explore this island too. Never been to an island, so I figure it can be a bit of an adventure." Max looked out to the jungle, eager to delve in once everypony was settled. He packed only a few bits, sunglasses, and several medicinal potions-in case somepony was hurt.
"Maybe, as long as your going to be out and about too, maybe I could accompany you?" Max, being slightly paranoid in social situations, braced himself for the worst.

Lorcan smiled as another pony introduced themselves. "Hello and welcome Imagine! My name is Lorcan and i am happy you could make it here." He said.

"Oh! The clothesline is on the right side of the house.You would have seen it when we were walking, but i think i have it covered up." Lorcan said as he pointed his hoof to the right side of the house.

Lorcan went to shake his hoof. "Why thank you Sir Nightfall!" He said as he smiled a little. "You know your name sounds a little noble. Are you of noble blood?" He asked.

Lorcan took another puff of his pipe and turned to Max. "Oh, you all will be sleeping on the ground outside." He said as he laughed a little. "I'm sorry but I couldn't help myself. I will show you all in a second."

Lorcan smiled once more as the pony named Beat Drop interacted with him. "Why hello there, Beat Drop! Thank you for the compliment!" He said as he shook hooves with the DJ

"Well, I, um...thanks," she said, in respone to Beat's comment. "So, anyways, Accent, I overheard you're a drummer. That's really cool. Not a lot of ponies can coordinate their hooves like that. I guess I'm the opposite; my hooves have to move really slow in order to do my job right. So, anyways, if we have roommates, do you want to be mine? Cause, you're like, the only mare I've met on this island so far, so, yeah."

"Yeah, it's mainly just getting the right sticks and the right grip down. Once that happens, you're good to go.", Accent replied, seeing as though Beat had left. She took a mental sigh of relief at that. Luckily, she didn't need to deal with his snarky comments again...

 

"Roommates? Uh... Sure, why not. You seem really nice... I'm sure we can get to know each other better then."

Lorcan went to shake his hoof. "Why thank you Sir Nightfall!" He said as he smiled a little. "You know your name sounds a little noble. Are you of noble blood?" He asked.

 

"No, not really; I mean, not that I'm very aware of. I'm pretty sure that if I were noble, the princesses would have told me by now or something like that, so I doubt it."

He chuckled.

"How did you get to own such a beautiful and wonderful place? It's paradise, really."

Star nodded. "That would be wonderful." She said, smiling before looking at Lorcan. "Thank you. If you don't mind, I am just going to hang up some of my things." She said, picking up her suitcase and trotting towards the side of the house. But she stopped and looked back at Max...hoping he would join her.

Beat smiled. "My pleasure." He said, glancing back at his luggage...most of which were DJing equipment.

Lorcan chuckled at Nightfalls statement. "Oh this ol' place? Let's just say it was a lot of hard work that got me here." He said as he turned his attention to Star.

"Have fun there Star, when you come back I'll show everyone where they will sleep." Lorcan shouted to Star.

Lorcan smiled and saw the DJs luggage. "Woah, that there luggage of yours looks awful heavy." He said as he took a puff of his pipe.

Beat chuckled. "It is...but that's why I have my magic. But still...is there some place I could put it all ?" He asked.
It was rare he went some place without his equipment...it was never fun being stuck without it. "And is there a room that's far away from the others ? When i'm practicing it can sometimes get a little loud but if the door is closed you'll be fine."

Lorcan looked at the others and then back at Beat. "You know, i will go ahead and show you your room, follow me." He said as he walked into the house and up the stairs. "Oh, and if anyone else wants to come into my house, be my guest!" He shouted.

 

(describing the bottom portion of the estate)

Inside Lorcans estate, there was a lot of decorations, pictures and trinkets scattered along the walls. There was a path to the stairs, and five rooms which had a red velvet carpet over it. The farthest wall had various pictures of Lorcan with different ponies. The wall on the right side had books on bookcases and decorations,mostly vases and little figures, on top of bookcases. The wall on the left side had records and paintings on shelves and some knick knacks Lorcan had acquired. The wall behind had a sword and candles on it.

Max trotted over next to Star as she went to the clothespin. He didn't do it consciously, but it appears his sub conscious was taking subtle control.

"Great, but first let us get rooms and rest a little. My wings are killing me from the long flight from Ponyville." Max looked back at his wings, and while they were not injured, they did appear to have several damaged feathers along with just looking messy. He hadn't flown that long or far since the his high school years. Eventually they made it to the clothespin. Max decided to give her some space to hang up her clothes, so he trotted over to a nearby bush and started picking some of the berries off of it. 

"I will have to test to see if these are edible..." Max mumbled to himself.

Star nodded and opened her small suitcase. She began hanging up her clothes as she spoke. "I know what you mean. I flew from Ponyville as well...three hour flight. Probably the longest I have ever flown. Sometimes Unicorns can be so lucky with Teliportation...but there is no way I would give up flying."

Beat followed Lorcan up the stairs, his many DJing items following closely behind.

Lorcan trotted to the two farthest rooms upstairs. "So Beat, would you like a room with a view of the ocean or a view of the rest of the island?" He said as he pointed first to the right and then the left. "Both are pretty sound proof, if you're concerned about disturbing the others."

"A view of the ocean would be wonderful. Or do you have a room where I can keep a close eye on the mares ? Because that would be best I think." He chuckled. "I'm just messing around. The ocean room sounds like my kinda place. Thank you very much." He said, smiling and moving towards the left room, his stuff following closely behind.

Max trotted back over to the line.

"Oh totally. Magic seems cool and all, but it cant quiet compare to the freedom the a pair of wings give you." Max said, giving his wings a single flap for show.

"So I am wondering if we are each going to get our own rooms or if we have to share with somepony." Max thought aloud. ONe one hoof, he liked the idea of peace that a single room would bring. One the other hoof, Max had a feeling that sharing a room-depending on the roommate- would be just as good.

Lorcan nodded and got out of Beats way. "If there is anything you need from me, don't be afraid to ask. I am here to help." He said as he trotted back downstairs while putting fresh tobacco in his pipe and lighting it.

 

Lorcan then waited near the entrance to his house in case any other guest of his wanted to be shown their room.

Star thought for a moment before hanging a pretty blue dress on the clothesline. "I don't know...I heard two other mares talking about sharing a room so maybe we do share...or maybe we can choose." She said, hanging the last purple sock on the clothesline before closing her suitcase.

Beat nodded and trotted into his room where he placed his suitcase on his bed. He turned to the many strange machines and began setting them up in the corner of the room.

"Hey, Lorcan."

Nightfall was looking around, and had liked what he had seen.

"Is there any room that's quite or something? Or, you know, maybe a little sound-proofed? While I don't do much that requires sound proofing, some peace and quite, and maybe a good view, are all what I need right now."

He chuckled; to think a few of the other colts would be after mares here.

"Well, I don't mind a roommate. Depends on the roommate." Max said. He pondered who he would pick if it came to it. His first thought was Star Song, but his mind was once again arguing with itself.

"Why not? She seems nice."

"Yeah, ask the mare you just met to share a room with you. THAT wont send mixed signals."

"You don't know that's the way she will interpret it."

"You don't know that ISN'T going to be the way she will interpret it."

Max snapped out of it finally, and quickly needed to distract himself.

"Your from Ponyville? Funny we haven't met. Wish I did though, you seem nice." Max said kindly. He didn't have a lot of friends back home, but was glad he would here.

"Oh another request for a soundproof room? You got some plans huh?" Lorcan said as he started laugh. As he laughed he dropped the pipe from his mouth spilling the contents on the ground. "Awww,my pipe." He said as he turned around. "Alright, follow me Sir Nightfall!" Lorcan then trotted in his house and up the stairs.

"Seriously, I don't need to be called Sir Nightfall."

He chuckled, also thinking about what Lorcan had said. The truth was that he didn't know if any of the mares were going to be "into him," so he decided to just play it as it went. He followed Lorcan up the stairs.

"Oh alright." Lorcan said stopping i the walkway. "so we have the rooms to the right, which have a view of the ocean and then we have the rooms on the left which have a view of the rest of the island." He said. He quickly ran from room to room inspecting them. "Actually i think these are all soundproofed. Weird i don't remember asking for it." He thought out loud. trotting back to Nightfall, Lorcan smiled and asked, "So what is your decision....milord"
