What can G5 ponies do to match or even surpass G4's MLP: FiM?

For me, it would require aiming toward multiple audiences other than just little girls, which was what MLP: FiM managed to do so far. It also needs a main cast of characters as flawed yet well-written as the Mane Six, as opposed to deathly saccharine like G3 and G3.5 were.

 

However, what it can't do, is either make it so ridiculously saccharine that it's G3 all over again, or make it so dark that it would give nightmares to children, like Slade from the Teen Titans cartoon. It needs to hit that right middle-ground similar to FiM, while its stories remain written well.

Well, too begin with G4 will be for a really long time, since they already know that it's gold in their hands. They wouldn't just throw it away and loose it. Let's just say that after G4, whenever that will be..

I am pretty sure if they would do G5, they would do it exactly like G4. They would have learned from it, so it's more likely that G5 would simply be even more improved animations. Although, they are already improving it, they might just remake the episodes.

I somehow doubt they will make G5 unless G4 would stop working. If they keep the same cast and the writers keep being good. Then G4 should last for a long time, but if that day would come they would make G5. Its main difference would be the animations.

I don't know, I trust that if they would make G5 it will be just like G4, I doubt they will ever stop being as awesome as G4.

But eventually, MLP: FiM will have a series finale, and it's at that point that Hasbro has to create a G5 for MLP. But, they also have to make sure that G5 matches G4 in-terms of quality, because otherwise, it's either a repeat of G3, or a repeat of Shadow the Hedgehog.

Well I think by the time That happens is because they ran out of ideas for the FIMverse. And thus they want the next generation to be something completly new and has alot of ideas from it. Perhabs Have the universe a future theme as G1 and G4 had middle age themes

I've said it on similar threads before, but I think for G5 to at least be different is maybe a series of live action style movies filmed instead of animation type movies instead of a cartoon, and with CGI ponies that are more like real ponies, sort of similar to how they did the Chipmunks in Alvin and the Chipmunks latest movies where they kinda look more like actual Chipmunks as opposed to there incarnation in the 80s Chipmunk cartoons, oh and also not the G4 characters.

 

G4 is so good, and I don't see how they could possibly do an MLP cartoon any better, and since we're talking G5 which unlike G4.5 or something to my mind means a totally new generation. I can't see where else they could go, plus I like to imagine a live action movie I think that would be cool

You would not BELIEVE how much I hate it when cartoon companies make 3D CGI's of old 2D cartoon characters. If they do that, I say the show is ruined.

Well I wasn't thinking of them doing an old 2d cartoon as a 3D cartoon or anything, wasn't thinking of G4 live action that would be bad. I was thinking of a totally new bunch of characters, new story and new plot

Well, if they can make even better 3D models than the ones that are being developed in SFM I can't see them not being successful.

I mean...just look at this...

Imagine if they were to take over the production/developement of these ponies. With proper funds and time dedication we could possibly see perfect 3D models of ponies.

We all know that Generation 5 will be way more girly. Hasbro doesn't want another Brony outbreak, because it will mean catering to something else than little girls. I think, Generation 4 was a once in a life time pony creation.

 

But, if they get Lauren to do it again, and make brand new characters it could be better.

 

I don't know, but I highly doubt Generation 5 will be anyway near as good an Generation 4.

Why not? MLP is still catering to little girls. It just has the adults/guys/bronys however you want to put it watching as well and joining in the fun. I don't see how Hasbro can dislike that, it means they get more attention and interest in there franchise. Bronys go out and buy toys as opposed to just little girls, more people view the TV show, there profits may not sky rocket but it must have had reputation and financial benefits, and isn't Equastia girls catering to people older than little girls?

 

I'm sure I read E.G was aimed at older teen girls or something

It depends. The writers, animatiors and such. I think it can be as good maybe better. They (Hasbro) has to remember about the fan base. As one said, make it for multiple audiences. I think a good idea for G5 would be having the CMC all grown up and keep the original mane six as maybe guardians of Equestria or something. Celestia, Luna and all of them are still around. But yeah it depends.

Okay, slight termination issue here. Once MLP:FiM ends, there can be another series and it be still counted as G4. 'G5' means a new toy design or significant change in art-style.

 

It's the reason why My Little Pony and My Little Pony Tales are both G1. The writing style may have changed, but the art style and the toy designs didn't.

 

Heck, it's technically possible for G5 to occur before MLP:FiM ends. Say Season 6 has the same characters, but the art style is radically different and Hasbro starts releasing (and licensing) toys that follow the new art style... Stop laughing, I know they're having problems with toys and plushies matching the *current* character designs, that's not the point... That would count as G5.

 

Anyway, I honestly think Hasbro is going to do something like G3.5 instead. They're going to go experimental again and fling all sorts of different stuff into the wild to see what catches on and what doesn't. So expect to see more stuff like the comics, books, and direct-to-DVD movies they've announced/produced so far, and expect to see the art and writing styles to be radically variant.

Discussing this makes me think MLP: FiM is going to end.

The way I see it, they need to keep MLP: FiM alive for as long as they can!
I can't think of anything that would be better.

While I am not dismissing that entirely as a possibility as Hasbro is not beyond making stupid decisions (twilicorn) that dosen't have to be the case. Hasbro didn't know that G4 would give rise to the bronies but since bronies came into the picture Hasbro has for the most part done a good job of making them happy while still keeping the original audience of little girls which has made this the most profitable MLP generation of all time.

 

If Hasbro didn't want bronies to be a part of MLP than they would have ordered the writers to take out all the things bronies like about the show but since they so far haven't done that I just don't see it. There are many directions they could go with G5 that could still maintain all the elements of what made G4 great while still putting a fresh spin on it.
