The reason why i say.. Don't list MLD in this topic, is because i have already read it. I did cry to this story every single time i listen to it. But it's effect on me is not there anymore so it's not on my list.

It's only got two chapters, but by Celestia, Luna and everything that is holy, I hope it's still far from finished. Two chapters, two times I've been left bawling my eyes out. And the reason it makes you cry is something you'd never expect would rouse any feelings, least of all sad ones, in you. Or at least that was what I thought. Boy, how wrong was I.

Well, a sad fan fiction that I have read that to this day gets me is a sad story of fluttershy dealing with her depression of her school back then, and her love for rainbow dash is hurting her too as she wants to admit her feelings to her.

Very sad, with an good and bad ending that will make you cry, my god! This is a story to read.

Thanqol's "Yours Truly" is one of my favorites. This story is a bit unique in how it's presented, being told almost entirely through a series of letters between the Mane Six and others as they grow up and life drifts them apart. It is an incredibly beautiful, sad, and bittersweet story.
