"Heh, yeah he's something alright..." she turned and started walking in the direction of the lake she'd seen on the way here. "You bringing me one of those pales, or are you planning on doing the heavy lifting darlin?" she called out as she trotted slowly away so Steel could catch up easily.

"I can handle these with ease." Steel said as he bumped his shoulders upward, showing how little the weight mattered to him. "I used to do a lot of labor based work before Fancypants hired me. Of course you can help with the actual filling of the buckets. If you have a spell for it, you could even freeze the water into ice cubes." He suggested. "Make it easier to transport."

Dox stared at her, stunned. She was both worried and impressed by him, it seemed. "Ah, that... I, uh, just saw that our captain had disappeared into the water, but i would have jumped in after anypony..." 'Especially you...' He thought to himself. "Hey, about... About that kiss that I gave you..."

Ocean heard a splash and she did her best to lift her head, trying to figure out who it was. "Help." She croaked, trying to push herself up onto her hooves. She gasped and fell back down as she noticed several deep cuts in her chest and stomach. All the cuts seemed to be bleeding some sort of bluish liquid...much like the potion Ocean drank.
 

 

Iron Hoof had set up his own tent and was in the process of unloading some of the food from the trucks.

Dox stared at her, stunned. She was both worried and impressed by him, it seemed. "Ah, that... I, uh, just saw that our captain had disappeared into the water, but i would have jumped in after anypony..." 'Especially you...' He thought to himself. "Hey, about... About that kiss that I gave you..."

Acutely aware that she was blushing rather fiercely now, Feather tensed, and braced herself for what she was certain would be a gentle let down from the black and white unicorn stallion.

 

"Y-yeah?" Feather stared at her hooves, unable to bring herself to look Paradox in the eye.

"You know, you're right. Normally I would just siphon the water from the air..." her horn started glowing, and what looked like a light fog began swirling around it, after a moment she let out her breath and took a short gasp for air "Nope, this air is...strangely dry, considering we're under the water...in a cave."

 

Walking for a few minutes, she soon found herself standing on the edge of the lake, looking in to the water. Her eyes lit up and her jaw dropped slightly as she almost hypnotically began edging into it.

Acutely aware that she was blushing rather fiercely now, Feather tensed, and braced herself for what she was certain would be a gentle let down from the black and white unicorn stallion.

 

"Y-yeah?" Feather stared at her hooves, unable to bring herself to look Paradox in the eye.

Dox saw that she was just as nervous as he was, and he gave a small smile. He gently put a hoof under her chin and raised her head up so he could look her in the eyes. "I was wondering... Do you think.... Maybe I could try it again? This time without running off from you."

It was then that Steel spotted a figure upon the bank of the water.

 

"OCEAN!" He cried, tossing the harness off his shoulders. He ran to the edge of the water and scooped up her form. "Ocean! Are you all right?" She wasn't responding, but she was breathing. Steel held her close and prayed hard in thanks. He gently raised her up on to his back. "I'll help with the water later. Right now, I need to take her to the doctor." Steel made his way back to the camp with Ocean on his back.

She continued to swim underwater for the next few minutes, jumping out every so often and re-entering. It just so happened that as Moon jumped out again, she heard the faintest cry for 'help' and turned her head.

Her wings quickly spread open before she could land back in the water and flew as fast as she could toward Ocean. Of course, she still didn't realize it was her yet until Steel called her name from behind.

 

Wait.. Is this, really Ocean?

 

Her confusion led her to stop next to the water type pony, but she dared not to look at, whatever it was.

When Moon thought the time was right to look up, there was nopony there, since Steel had already taken her to the campsite by then.

But instead of going back, she just sat there.

Confused.

Feather felt Dox's hoof under her chin as he tilted her head up, forcing Feather to look him in the eyes - or eye, rather.

 

You barely know him... Whispered a voice in her head, but it was so very quiet, and getting further away with every passing second. She was feeling uncharacteristically daring; this whole thing was meant to be an adventure, wasn't it?

 

"Yes" was what she wanted to say, but instead Feather found herself shaking her head. "No." she pulled away from Paradox, then leaned in and kissed him herself - just lightly on the muzzle - before pulling away. "Now we're even."

Dox blushed lightly and smiled. "Yeah... I guess we are." He chuckled a little bit. "You know, you have really soft lips..." He kissed her cheek. "You really do." He sat down next to her. "Now, was there something you wanted to say before we kissed again?" He looked at her.

Feather blinked, stunned by what she had just done and taken aback by Paradox's reaction. He....wasn't retching? In fact somewhere beyond her spinning head Feather had the craziest notion that Dox may have even said something about them kissing again. 

 

"Actually," she admitted with a brief, embarrassed chuckle. "I hadn't really planned anything after that part - didn't think I'd get this far..."

"What do you mean, you didn't think that you'd get this far?" Dox was a little confused, but he could guess what she was talking about. "Well, whatever you want to say, take your time, we have enough time on our hooves to say what needs to be said." He smiled warmly at her.

"I want to get to know you better." Feather told Paradox earnestly. "But I think we're gonna have to postpone it for now. It sounds like we've found Ocean." 

 

Feather turned and galloped away to investigate. Just moments ago she'd been euphoric; now, she was back to that odd mixture of worry and relief. She stopped for a moment and turned back to Paradox, feeling guilty for running off.

 

Guess we really are even now.

He nodded. "Sure." He got up and trotted over to Steel, helping him hold up Ocean a little better with his magic. "Where in Equestria did you find her!? And is she ok?" He looked at her. She seemed to be unconscious, but was still breathing, so that was a good sign.

Feather's eyes widened at the sight of the unconscious Ocean. She turned to Steel Accord; he seemed to be the closest to Ocean. 

 

"Is there anything Miss Ocean needs?" Feather was relieved that they had found Ocean - she felt more comfortable with the wiser mare back than she had with just Iron Hoof to lead them - but also surprised by how quickly and conveniently it had apparently happened. Well, convenient other than the fact Ocean wasn't conscious, of course.

Ocean fell unconscious when they arrived at the camp.
Iron Hoof came running over and he sighed. "She's okay? Thank Celestia. I will get the first aid supplies." He said, running over to a nearby truck. He came back moments later with a large box. He leaned down next to Ocean and began examining her wounds.

Steel did not leave her side. While the Captain went to retrieve medical help, he held her hoof, kissed it, and prayed. She was alive, but hurt.

 

Steel's emotions ran rampant. Worry and relief in equal measure, vied for dominance. It was too much, Steel felt his eyes begin to tear. He wiped his eyes, not wanting the chance of any getting on her.

 

He watched her as she lay upon the mat. Her mane splayed out beneath her head, like a splash upon the ground frozen in time. The gentle rise and fall of her chest, like waves lapping against the beach. Her freckles like shells, glinting under the surface of a tide pool at mid-day. Steel hadn't realized he was leaning ever closer to her.

 

Lost to his passion, he crossed those last few inches and gently pressed his lips to her cheek.

Dox stood next to Steel as he worried over Ocean like a little colt worries over his ill mother. After the stallion kissed her cheek, Dox put a hoof on his shoulder. "How ya doin there, buddy?" He managed a small, comforting smile. "Do you need anything while you stay here with her?"

Frostbite's hoof touched the water, and the immediate surface where she was stood instantly froze, thick enough for her to stand on. She shook her head as she felt the sudden change in temperature - "what the--" she asked, confused. "Steel? What just hap--" she turned around to see Steel had completely gone. Her eye twitched, and she took a deep breath to calm herself before she did anything stupid, instead picking up the pales from where he should be. 

 

It was as she turned to face the water and begin collecting, she noticed Moon was over the other side of the lake, looking rather bewildered about something. "Hey! Moon? You okay? ...you busy?" she shouted over, unintentionally with a hint of anger in her voice.

"No . . . Dox . . . thank you." Steel was a bit embarrassed that somepony had seen his affectionate display, but thankful for the understanding companion. "I'm just glad she's alive." Steel smiled. "I assume changing saved her and that her condition just wares off over time."

Moon continued to sit in her spot across the lake, much more confused then ever. Until the silence broke from behind her when she heard Frostbite calling out.

Her mind kept telling her, No.. I'm not ok. But she tried the best to take her mind off that and instead replied in a happy manner, still facing away however.

"I'm fine, not busy at all.. What would you need me for, Frostbite?"

"Well, clearly somepony here thinks i'm a lot stronger than I look..." she dropped a pale on the ground at the side of the lake, taking the other in her mouth and dipping it into the water. "He wash, shupposhed to be hewping me wif the water..." she dumped the now full pale by her side. She then froze the water and lifted it out of the pale in a huge chunk of ice, and began melting it slowly back into the pale, dropping anything that wasn't water on the ground "but I can't carry both of these back myself - heck, I can barely lift this one. Wouldn't mind lending a hoof would you?"

Dox nodded. "Most likely did. Whatever Iron ASSUMED was beneath the water's surface probably just passed through her." He looked over her. "At least she doesn't look too bad, just some scrapes and bruises." He began walking off. "Well, just let me know if you need anything."

Iron Hoof came back over with a large box. He rummaged through before he found a few things he needed.
He made sure Ocean's wounds were clean before he started stitching her back up, she was still unconscious.

On a nearby ridge, unnoticeable by the camp, there were the same three ponies as before, watching the group before all three of them ran off deeper into the cave.
