private Adventure to Atlantis

@,

"If you saw them just here, then we can't be that far away from Atlantis itself." Steel deduced. "If they didn't kill you, even helped you, that would seem to suggest that they would at least be welcome to visitors. Should we tell the Captain?" Steel asked.

((OOC: Can she drink? Or would that set off the magic?))

((She can drink, yes.))

Ocean bit her lip. "I dunno...they could be I suppose. Thing is...they new I was badly injured, They only made me solid again...they didn't heal my wounds...possibly because I was in my water form. But I feel like we should still be...prepared...in case they don't want us there. Nothing bad of course...just make sure we can protect ourselves. Maybe we should bring them a gift..." She said, more to herself than to Steel. She took a few more bites of her food.

"Here." Steel offered her a canteen of water. "I'm not sure if you can but," Ocean took the canteen. "I said I would protect you." He began again, looking a bit sullen. "I made an oath. I failed you once before, but I swear to you I will lay down my own life before I let harm come to you again."

Little unbeknownst to everypony present Star had made himself comfortable near the back of the group. It didn't really matter, he liked to keep to himself. He spent most of his time just looking over one of the scrolls that had survived the wreak. It was a rather loose transcript  but enough so he could roughly understand the language. Although he found that he was pretty useless at it, as per all other languages he attempted to study. That and the author had very poor hoof writing, indicating that he was definitely not a unicorn.

Other than that there was little progress. Old maps were useless, the history was flawed and everything else was utterly pointless. He had saved some, but barley anything of potential use. He planted his face in his hooves, taking a second just to absorb everything, be it from their experience or from the text. He was tired, pretty hungry, and he itched in strange places thanks to the lack of a proper shower. Star certainly hoped this would be all worth it in the end, but more than anything he hoped that Atlantis had proper plumbing.

Ocean reached for the canteen but winced before taking it. She took several large gulps, being careful not to spill any. "You're very kind, Steel. But I can protect myself. I want you to focus on protecting You rather than me." She said, looking around and spotting Star. She smiled and gestured for him to come over. "Star...come chat. You have been rather quiet for this whole trip." She said, taking a few more bites of food.

As much as he dreaded the idea of socially interacting with these ponies he couldn't refuse an invitation, be it his pet peeve. He silently shuffled up closer so that he wasn't exactly very close, but still enough not to be excluded. "There hasn't been much use for me yet, I guess I'm just waiting till that time comes." He rolled up the scroll, setting aside his little language project for the moment.

Steel smiled in silent acknowledgment of Ocean's command. She may not have know it, but his commitment to her was "his part." He experienced it firsthoof, what would happen if he failed to protect her. Steel was loathe to admit it, but his actions were just as much for self-preservation as they were altruism.

He turned to Star Catcher.

"Glad you could join us, my friend. Ocean here is something of a linguist too. Perhaps you two might hit it off with each other." He prompted with a smile.

"Actually...I am more of an archaeologist...rather than a linguist. I know a bit about languages but I study...old things." She chuckled but quickly stopped as her wounds made laughing rather painful.
She sighed and ate some more of her food before drinking a little more of the water Steel had given her.

Oh, this is the part where I'm supposed to respond, isn't it? "I'm not really a linguist either. I- in fact I'm quite rubbish at it." Probably not the smartest thing to say, but he tried to play it off.  "I'm really more of a chronicler, an amateur historian at best. Just another stallion who spends his days sulked up in a corner with old tomes really."

He noticed Giant hoofing him a plate. "Ok, I'll fill it for ya." He heaped on food and passed it back.

,

Dox nodded. "Sure I can." He gathered some beans on one side of the plate, some mac and cheese on the other, and walked it over to her.

(GROSS FOOD!? HOW DARE YOU! See if he ever feeds you again, then! XP XD)

Frostbite's stomach rumbled again as Paradox approached with the food "haha, that was timing!" she laughed, taking the plate from him and setting in on the floor beside her. "Thank you, been looking forward to this." she bit her lip for a second and waited for Paradox to turn around before she hungrily dived onto the plate, not caring how much she was shovelling into her mouth, or even what it was - but it tasted surprisingly good, compared to the food in the submarine. Maybe it was because she hadn't eaten, but she wasn't about to complain.

"And what's so wrong with that?" Steel proposed. "I am a writer by trade. Security work is what I do for extra income . . . annnnnd an excuse to go on adventures like this." He admitted. "I'm ever fascinated by the ancient history of our great nation. I even wrote a comedy about Heart's Warming's Eve once. Each chapter cycling back and forth between Princess Platinum, Commander Hurricane  and Chancellor Puddinghead."

@@Ano170@@Count Paradox,

"Oh wow, really? I was only joking but..." she replied, a little shocked at the sudden confession. When Paradox called over to them and Feather remarked about how hungry she was, Frostbite couldn't help but think; "I worry it might just come to that..." she mumbled to herself as they approached the food station.

"I'll admit, for once i'm actually looking forward to having something cooked for me for a change. So used to doing it myself, but i'm too hungry to think about that right now." She sat down, a way away from the fire, but due to the nature of her normal surroundings, it was still incredibly hot, almost unbearable for her, but the allure of the food was too good to miss out on.

"Couldn't pass some food could you? I dont want to get too close..." she gestured to the fire with her hoof before looking back at Paradox. "It's already warm enough here"

Dox internally facehoofed, but smiled at her nonetheless. "Well, I'm glad, because we have pleanty of food to go around. Would you like beans or macaroni and cheese?" He motioned over to the post that were sitting on a makeshift table of a board and two stones.

(OOC: 1001 apologies for my lack of activity today - I've spent the entire day revising for my english higher exam tomorrow. I'm planning on an early night, so once again I'm afraid this may be my last post until tomorrow afternoon - but I'll be sure to post a ton after that to make up for my inactivity today.)

Looking at the food, Feather was tempted to ask for both beans and macaroni, but ultimately decided this was not the time for gluttony, instead just going with macaroni. Already she was regretting her blurted confession to Frost Bite, who seemed to want to stay as far from the fire as possible.

You're such a blabbermouth, Quill. And too trusting to boot.

Still, at least the flames offered a comforting warmth. With hot food in her belly, Feather found herself relaxing and even getting a little sleepy - maybe she'd just stay by the fire all night. Or at least until it went out; then she supposed she'd curl up in a seat on one of the trucks; with her hat for a pillow it wouldn't be the most uncomfortable place she'd ever slept - there was that deflated waterbed incident for instance...

"Good food." she mumbled quietly to herself. "Good fire and good company. Who needs a tent anyways?"

Uh...I have no idea what to put here.

"Itsh besht not to fink about it" Frostbite called over as she wolfed down the last of her food. She swallowed and a small burp escaped her mouth. "Oh...excuse me" she giggled as she turned a shade of red. "Anyway, as I was saying, I honestly don't think anyone knows, it's all rumours and stories like you say, and tales get twisted...what we know today might be the complete opposite of what happened back then." She stood up and stretched her front legs out infront of her, much like a cat would, before she continued talking "I just dont see dwelling on something insignificant as that doing anypony any good."

Dox had smiled at Frost and went back to the fire to dispense food. After everypony had been fed, he got his own plate and was looking for a place to sit when he heard Feather behind him say something about not having a tent. He turned around and sat next to her. "Well, how's your evening going?"

"Well...   somewhere during Equestrian Dark Ages, lasting from the 1300 to 990 BC is when many suspect Atlantis to have disappeared from record, although the cause is unknown. At the beginning of the Age of Renewal the City had was all but forgotten, save deep with the Achieves held within the Unicorn settlements. During the Dark Ages, Force Commander Supreme Hurricane made an account of a clan that refused to cooperate with Pegasi order, nor any of the other tribes demands. "They were factionless, drifting along the coastline without so much as a known area of settlement. And yet they continue to advance, grow and watch us." After that they seem to simply vanish, gone from the world. There's so many gaps in our history, the Crystal Empire, the rise of Celestia, and yet we still have no way of know for sure."

(( OOC- I be back~ Ima ask though, should there be an encounter with Moon at all? From what I post you can decide or not ))

Moon Wave was surprisingly pleased from separating from the rest of the group, gving her a time to think a bit on what happened back then. From the blood she saw while walking back, wasn't the usual crimson color that is normally given off, but instead it was a bluish color like it was something different.

It also made her realize that she left her saddlebag back at the river.

Shit.. She would keep thinking. Debating on whether to go back there and retrieve it, or just leave it there. But in the end, Moon chose to go back, and slipped away from the group with very little noise.

Just in a bit, she arrived back where the giant river was. Still running rapidly, and dangerous as always. Down at the far corner of the other side, she managed to catch a good glimpse of her bag. But seeing it was still there, she gave a slight sigh of relief and flew over to go pick it back up.

((I am fine with an encounter as long as you let me control the Atlantean's. Also, it would take at least an hour to make it back to where the sub's where left...and that would be flying...quickly. So I feel like maybe she left her bag at the river would be a better idea.))

@,

@@Steel Accord,

Ocean smiled. "You make it seem like your rambling is a bad idea. But...the artifacts picked up in the Ambleazon dated back thousands of years before Chancellor Puddinghead Commander Hurricane and Princess Platinum. And the artifacts were about a sunken city...so Atlantis may be even older then that. One of the reasons I am so interested in it is because it was so advanced for its time. Its like...us ponies traveling to the moon without magic...it's mind boggling. But...I suppose the only way to find out what happened would be to get there." She said, glancing down at the ground. She sighed before laying down on the role up mattress. "I just wish I could have talked to the ponies I saw." She muttered, looking up at the ceiling.

"If there was an event for self-doubt then there is no doubt that I'd take the gold. Actually there might be." Star Keeper glanced away in no particular direction, simply letting his mind wander off in new directions. Often this gave him a new sense of depth to the conversation, broadening his narrow thinking. "Something tells me that after over a thousand years they wont exactly welcome us with open hooves. They might not be as accepting to other cultures after so long in complete isolation."

Frostbite was finding herself to be surprisingly interested in this conversation, despite the fact she had nothing to add herself aside from cynicism and her own logical thoughts on the matter. Picking up her plate, she walked over to Paradox and placed it down on the corner of the table. "Last time I finished my food, a submarine exploded - who's washing up this time?" she asked as she sat down beside the table, across from the fire - much closer than she was before without realising.

(( OOC- I expected for you to control the Atlanteans, since it would only seem right to anyways. And about the other part, I changed it to the big giant river from what you said ))

The first thing Moon had done after coming over to her bag was opening one of the flaps to find her picture of her parents. The glass in the frame was a bit broken, but the picture itself was still in a good condition so she gave it a nice hug before setting it back down.

I haven't seen you two in forever.. But someday I hope I can come visit again.

In the midst of it though, there was a presence nearby. Moon wasn't able to detect anything though, since the river was loud enough to block out most of the noise. It was more like an interference with a radio signal when you thought about it, but with that active gave a perfect moment for anyone to remain hidden.

"Given what you've told us, I would find that to be more than likely. After all if Commander Hurricane was quoted as remembering them as isolationist, I doubt thousands of years with no surface contact has changed their foreign policy." Steel then looked to Ocean with a raised eyebrow. "Yet they helped you my lady. So even if they won't welcome us, they are at least not completely without mercy."
