gaming Half Life 3 Predictions

So this has been on my mind and I would like to hear your comments.

If you are a PC gamer/Orange Box player and have any taste in games whatsoever, you too are anxious for the arrival of the legendary HL3.  Now let me start this thread off right. I love the Half-Life series, as well as TF2, Portal and CS. I also Gmod (not sure if that counts). That being said, I am not a Valve dick-rider. If they make a mistake, I'll call them out on it. The thing is, they rarely do. So in that sense, Valve games are usually "worth the wait" (Gaben).

I also know that Gaben has purposefully been putting off the production of HL3 to make people wait. From a business stand-point, it's a good move. Here's what I think he's doing. I think they will wait to really starting working on it until people stop talking about it. When people forget it, I really believe it will be released.

I had a small speck of hope in 3/3/2013. Didn't happen.

If you have had a Steam account during this time, you'll remember the April fool's joke they did last year, with the HL3 symbol on the front page of Steam News. Bastards.

So here's where I ask all of you, when do you think it will be released?

What changes do you think the last piece of the HL series will have that is different from the rest?

WHAT IN GOD'S NAME WAS ELI GOING TO TELL GORDON?????

I think they're waiting to release the next Half Life on the next Source engine. That's been their trend in the past; a new Half Life game is released with each iteration of Source.

Hopefully that doesn't mean it will be a bug-ridden mess though.

I don't know why so many people are assuming that HL3 will be next to release when they haven't made EP3 yet, EP3 would be the next title if you want to follow logical progression.

Anyways the last thing I heard about what Valve was doing is that they are working on some secret thing that can revolutionize the way we see games or something like that. They have yet to reveal what that thing is, it might be the steambox but they haven't confirmed that. My guess for the next Half Life release is to be sometime after they launch whatever it is they've been working on. When Gabe mentioned it he said that they would be working on it for the next few years, and that was a bit after Portal 2 released.

I think it can be either or, concerning EP3/HL3. In the commentaries for HL2:EP2 they mention that the next installment would be EP3, but I'm really hoping they have more content in the next installment of the series than the average Episode length. Also, they can easily change their minds at any time. At this point, I'll stay a true fan as long as they don't have Always-Online DRM or Day One DLC; and that isn't asking much at all.

I think the Steambox is what he was referring to as the "revolutionary" item. However, it would be awesome if he meant HL3/EP3. I'd take either, though to be honest, I'm not buying the Steambox if for no other reason than I don't have the money. It's still a great idea though.

Well, Eli definitely knew something about the G-Man, that much is certain. I've been thinking that the two alien slug thingies (forgot official names, it's been a long time since I played it) coming at that very instant was not a coincidence. It's like the forces of the universe conspired to stop Eli from revealing what he was about to reveal.

Last time I heard about Half-Life series was that although they've tried to create the next installment, most people in Valve lost interest with making it. One thing I know is that Valve just lets their people do whatever the hell they want since they are not being dictated by a group of stockholders unlike EA and Activision.

I'm not entirely sure if that read was genuine or not. But I honestly don't expect the game to be released at all.

Half life was Valves debt game, and given it's success, i don't blame them if they don't want to release a conclusion until everything is 200%. Which is probably what they're doing. There's no way Valve hasn't got a team currently working on it.

I just hope they release it so that we can put the stupid "Valve can't count to 3" joke to rest.

The more time passes, the more people will talk about Half Life 2 Episode 3, everyone's hyped for it, it's been a lot since the last HL2 game.

Sometimes i wonder if HL2EP3 will be released. HL2EP2 left a giant hope for a sequel, because of the ending.

Maybe that was their trick, make us hope there would be a sequel but, there is not?

Maybe HL2EP3 won't be released, or HL3 will release first, and HL2EP3 will come out at last. Maybe what supposedly happens in Borealis could affect Freeman's mind and making him in the progress of HL3 can't remember it, and that's when the game finishes and HL2EP3 comes later and tells the story.

It's all a giant puzzle, i can't really know what Valve is going to do, nobody is able to unless someone works at Valve tell us what they are doing.

Wow, I never thought about Borealis coming into play here, but I could see Valve doing that. That would be interesting to say the least. I really believe they will make a sequel though; people want it too much for Valve to not work on it.

I'm sure it's a joke, but you know that Cobain died in '94 right?
