"Great work Night! Keep it up!" Rambler shouted up to her as he quickly picked up all the apples and rushed them over to Rockshire to be sliced. "Do you have a knife Rockshire? Because if you don't have one with you then you can borrow mine to slice the apples."

"That won't be necessary, Rambler. I have my own.", Rockshire explained as she pulled out a box from her saddlebags. She opened it up, showing about 20 different knives. Using her magic to pick up about 5 of them, she started to slice up some the apples and discarding any of the bad slices from the pile.

After completing the second tree, she stopped to turn to Dusty. She realized that she was doing all the work. She didn't mind it, as she was the most qualified to do so, but she didn't want her coltfriend feeling useless. She thought for a moment before coming to a conclusion.

"Why don't you find Apollo and see where this kitchen is. We can set up early, get the jump on things." She hoped this would help him feel like he was contributing. She would hate to alienate him with her magic. As she spoke, she began TKing the third tree, with the same precision as the others.

Dusty watched in awe, as Crystal was quickly finishing off the second tree with her telekinesis spells.

 

She then turned around to him, and asked him if he could go and find the host, Sir Apollo, to ask him where the kitchen would be located. They could then start to back their pie early. "Of course, my love. I'm sure he must be around here somewhere." he said and smiled. He was visibly happy, that he could help her in any way.

 

Dusty then started running and and kept eye out for Apollo. He saw him trotting with 3 ponies, the two circus siblings. Fire and Flame and the mare that loved plants, Eve.

 

Dusty cheerfully approached the group. "Heya, sorry to interrupt you."

Fire smiled at Eve before she also flew up to the tree.

Fire and her brother began pulling the apple's from the tree, discarding the ones that were obviously rotten.

A few moments later they flew back to Eve with a large pile of apples in their hooves. Fire went up to get more as Flame looked at Apollo. "It's your tree so...it's up to you whether you can help or not. And how many apple's do you want picked?" He asked, as Fire brought another pile of apples to the ground.

Apollo was slightly disappointed in the response that he got.

"I didn't mean it like that...but whatever. Its really up to you. Ideally theres supposed to be one pie for every two ponies. Assuming you know basic math AND assuming you know how to make a pie, it should be pretty easy to figure out." He said as he heard the voice of another pony.

Dusty turned to speak with Apollo, he had a serious look on him. "He sure must have taken his guard duty very seriously."

 

Dusty approached the host. He strarted asking, in a friendly manner. "Would you mind telling me, where i and Ms. Crystal could find the kitchen? We have gathered all the required ingredients for an apple pie."

 

"I still need to thank him, but i do that later and in personal. Crystal is waiting." he thought.

Apollo thought about Dusty's question when the thought came to him.

The only kitchen is in my house...I dont want them in my house.

Apollo looked around,darting his head from side to side.

"I will build a brick fire pit to cook them on." He said. He then spread his wings and flew to his house. With his magic he levitated bricks,cement, and wood into a neat little pile. He then assembled them, forming a fire pit tailor made for cooking. He then darted back to Dusty.

"Right over there...you know how to start a fire right?" Apollo said with a little bit of sweat on his forehead

Apollo didn't say anything at first, instead he seemed to be looking around for something. Then he told Dusty. that he quickly would build a fire place with brickstone, so they could start the cooking. "Alright, then."

 

Dusty watched as Apollo flew to a building and shortly afterwards returned with various materials. He then proceeded to arrange them into a fire pit. It looked pretty stable and fit for cooking. "Ah, that's great! Thanks for youir help. And yes, i have started a lot of fires on my travels. Would be a bad idea to sleep outside without a fireplace to warm yourself up at."

Crystal managed to pick clean 5 more trees, before she filled the basket. She brought all the apples into the sky, and checked for any rotten or bad ones. After only finding two, she discarded them and returned the remaining apples to the basket. It was full to the brim. It looks like there were enough here for two, possibly 3 pies. Maybe she could make a few, save the other groups the hassle. She the basket flew behind the unicorn mare as she trotted over to the entrance of the orchard. She found Dusty talking to Apollo. Good, maybe he found a kitchen of some description.

"Hi Dusty." She greeted, approaching the two.

"Look at all the apples I got. We have enough here for maybe three pies. So, did you find a kitchen?" She was quite proud of herself for this. Her advance knowledge of TK was never really useful until now. She saved her coltfriend the trouble of climbing up trees, and possibly breaking his neck. And her ecstatic demeanor was showing.

Damnit...need to stop doing that...its getting annoying. He thought. He then made his way back to the three ponies he was previously talking to. He didn't feel all that welcomed when he first approached them. He thought of being more like he was in the guards but quickly scrapped the thought.@,@Glaceon,

"Thanks. To be honest, I have no idea... You will need to ask Night Song about that, since she is the one assigned to picking the apples off of the trees, Rambler.", Rockshire explained, focusing back onto the apple cutting. She had managed to throw out about 5 bad apples.

Rambler shrugged. "Well, you're the one who has to slice them all, so I wouldn't want to give you more than you could handle, especially if it's more than we need. Anyway, if you don't know I guess I'll go talk to Night Song."

 

He quickly returned to the tree where Night Song was picking apples.

Dusty had turned to run back to Crystal, to inform her about the cooking pit as well, but he already saw his fillyfriend approaching from the distance, the basket floating closely behind her. Fro mwhat Dusty could tell, the Basket was completely filled with delicious looking apples. "So fast...She's amazing! That' should be enough for 3 or even 4 apple pies." he thought cheerfully.

 

He waited until she arrived. She looked really happy. Apollo had gone over to an other group, probably to give them instructions on how to use the fire pit as well. "Your sure are really fast. Your Telekinesis is awesome!" he called out to her and smiled. "Yes, well...it's not exactly a kitchen, but i think this should do it." he pointed over to the brick fire pit.

There were lots of apples littering the ground from Night Song's hard labor. She shrugged her shoulders at Rambler and said,"I don't know how one bakes a pie, so I'm not sure." She then scooped up some apples from the ground and held them out for Rambler to take.

She raised an eyebrow looking at the fire pit. She glanced over at the home, confused by this turn of events.

"Does he not want us in his house or something?" She shrugged, and landed the apples by the fire pit. She trotted ever, but immediately frowned.

"Um, I don't know how to start a fire. I don't know any elemental spells either, as I am only good with Warping and TK." She said, looking down at the pit.

Dusty saw her suspicious look she gave, when he told her that they would be cooking at the fire pit. He could tell that she found it strange as well, that they wouldn't be using the kitchen in the main house. "Oh well, we are still strangers to him. That'll probably fix itself over time."

 

Crystal had placed the basket of apples down near the fire pit. She then said that she didn't know how to start a fire.

"Oh, that's no problem. I sometimes camp outside, when i didn't manage to find a motel or some kind of shelter. Should be easy to start a fire here." he said and smiled.

 

Dusty walked over to take some materials, then he placed some pieces of dry wood into the pit and took two thin branches and started rubbing them togehter. Soon enough, the branches began to fume and shortly after, a small fire started burning in the fire pit.

"Well, I'm used to seeing some generals acting of that behavior... Since, you know, Canterlot and the like.", Rockshire said, cleaning off her knifes and placing them back into the box.

 

"I can already tell that Apollo is getting to be a bot of a pain with it comes with his orders... He's desperately trying to convert to a regular pony."

Rambler nodded. He could see how hard it was for Apollo to do this. "Yeah... I actually kind of feel bad for him. I mean, he's dedicated his life to the military to the point where he doesn't know how to act like an ordinary civilian anymore. It's really kind of sad, isn't it?"

Crystal was quite impressed with the swiftness he delivered a fire with. She gave him a smile, and then began lifting the apples from the basket. As each apple reached a certain point, a rush of wind was heard, and four apple slices were made. The slices were then placed back into the basket.

"I learned this in a cooking class I took one semester. This spell is probably the only useful thing I got out of it." It wasn't that amazing, it was a variation on the TK spell she already knew. You just force down a thin wave of energy and it cuts right through. Anypony with a horn and a reasonable level of intelligence could do this spell.

"It should take about 10 minutes to cut all these apples. Do you have any idea what to do next?" She asked Dusty, still focusing on the apple cutting.

"Maybe this party here will make his edges more smooth again. He probably just needs somemore fun times like what we're having!" Night Song suggested. "But I agree, it is kind of sad..." she added sorrowfully. Suddenly brightening up, she said,"Well, let's just find the oven or whatever, all right?"

After the fire burned steadily and was sure not to extinguish too soon, Dusty watched Crystal, as she started to slice up the apples into four parts. She used her Telekinesis to do so. Her TK ability sure was very flexible.

 

Crystal then told him that it would take about 10 minutes to cut the rest of the apples and if he knew what they could do next.

 

"Well, i suppose we could start creating the dough we'll need for the pie, my darling." he said while holding his chin in thought.
