Dusty had seen the fight between Nexus and the other stallion. He had very well seen the intensity and anger, that Nexus must have felt, when he attacked Rambler. "He must have said something really bad, to make Nexus this upset."  After a strong hoofshot to Rambler's face, Nexus galloped off to the barracks.

 

Crystal then understandibly excused herself. "It's alright, check on him. I am worried myself." He felt sorry for Nexus and Crystal, who had to see this.  He looked after her, when she galloped after Nexus.

 

Then he heard Apollo calling out and complimenting his idea of building a brick oven. "T-Thanks, i thought it would be easier for everyone like this."

 

Dusty checked on the first pies, which had been baked pretty well. It seemed to be working. After a short while, he saw Crystal coming back from the building. He instantly smiled, when he saw her.

Crystal went to stand next to Dusty, worry stricken. That was the worst she has seen him. She looked over at the colt wiping up his face, and simply gave a disapproving shake of the head, before returning to Dusty.

"He...just needs time to himself. He isn't um, well, feeling well." That was an understatement if ever there was one. He looked...broken. He always had. Despite his friendly outward appearance, she could always see that part of him that was destroyed. The piece of his being that was gone. He was a broken colt wearing a mask. And the mask just came off. And what she saw under the mask was the most heart wrenching thing she has seen from him.

Dusty had clearly felt, that Crystal was worrying about Nexus. And he understood that, because Nexus really looked worked up, when he ran back to the living quarters.

 

Dusty felt sorry for Crystal, that she had to see Nexus in this state. He then hugged her and softly said : "I don't know Nexus for very long now, but I know he is very important to you. And i see he cares about you as well. I can't say that i know, what has happened to him in the past, but i can feel the pain coming from both of you"

 

He looked into her eyes, with a gentle expression : "Let us be there for him, if he needs help and advice. I love you and if he is like family to you, he is like family to me as well. You both can count on my support."

Crystal smiled at that. She nuzzled his neck.

"Thanks Dusty. That means a lot." She turned her attention to the rest of the ponies.

"Now, what shall we do now?"

After a shower, and some extreme willpower, Nexus pulled himself together and donned his armor again, heading back out. He still needed those claws, after all. He finally made it back to where Apollo was, but made sure to be discrete. He approached from his side, making sure he was out of view from the rest.

"General Apollo sir. I came for that requisition form." He said, noticeably weaker than before.

 

(Wow. This was written way more depressing than I intended. At least he isn't a black alicorn )

Night Song just stood there the whole time, frozen like a unicorn trapped her in a block of ice. "You should stay down for now Rambler," she said shakily. Taking a deep breath to calm herself, she then added,"Next time that happens, I'll do the talking." She then picked up the letter that that stallion tossed at her and Rockshire. "What should we do about this?"

 

Rambler shook his head. "I'm fine, really. I've taken plenty worse hits than that. As long as I got across that I'm not going let them push me around, I can handle whatever they want to throw at me and more." Rambler glanced over at the letter. "I don't know, do whatever you want with it. I doubt it would really accomplish anything if you did send something, but if you want to try, go ahead."

Eve was trotting along meaningfully, carrying a big bunch of apples in a cerise magical aura, but came lurching to a halt after noticing the serious expressions on the face of each pony there. "Here are the good apples from the circus sibling," she mumbled. "I... Did I miss something?" She looked around at each of them, with a single eyebrow raised.

Nexus looked up and saw a mare approach, clearly confused. He decided to approach before somepony-meaning the Irish one-made him look like an arse. He trotted up, forcing his best friendly face.

"Hi there. Sorry about the uh, mood of the area. There was a bit of a disagreement." He said, looking back at the group. He mentally smacked himself for forgetting his manners.

"Sorry, where are my manners? My name is Nexus." He said, forcing a smile and extending a hoof.

Apollo kneeled in close to Nexus.

"You sound horrible." He said as he backed away.

"The requisition form is in my office. Stay here whilst i go get it." 

With that, Apollo trotted towards his house and opened the door. He made sure no pony saw the inside of his house. He then closed and locked the door behind him. He trotted upstairs to his office,that was neatly kept, and pulled out a requisition form. Apollo then made his way back downstairs opening the door to go outside. He again made sure no pony saw the inside and he again locked the door behind him. 

"Alright, here is the form. I trust you know how to fill one out?" Apollo asked.

Apollo then saw Eve approaching and couldn't help but to stare at her.

her appearance is appealing to me at this moment. Maybe its because she was working. He thought.

"Just the recruits acting up." He said with a coy look on his face

Eve gave Apollo a blank look. "Recruits, huh?" She murmured. She turned her attention to the other pony, who seemed to be giving a much more straightforward answer.

Nexus offered a weak chuckle.

"Yeah, it isn't that great against what a friend of mine calls 'the feels.' But I won't weigh you down with it."

He looked on as she started sorting apples, and Apollo offering to help. He figured he should to. He needed a friend right now, as well as a distraction.

"I can offer assistance as well. I have been meaning to get into the activities here anyway." He offered.

After a short while, most of the apple pies were finished. They were standing neatly in the cooking platform, warm and looked quite delicious. "Heh, i guess our dinner should be saved" Dusty said with a grin. "That should be enough for even more than just us."

 

He looked in to the distance, over to a small group of ponies. He saw Nexus, he saw back from his room and stood with Sir Apollo and Ms. Eve. He seemed to be a little happier than before he ran back to the barracks. "I am glad that he seems to be settling in slowly."  he said gently.

 

Dusty then walked over to Crystal and looked around to see what the others were doing as well.

She was going to be busy with Dusty so she wouldn't be able to give Nexus the attention he needed. She then frowned when she saw the gaze that Apollo was giving the mare. It was focused on what appeared to be her hind quarters. She couldn't help but scoff at that. After everything that happened and he is ogling a pretty mare? She turned back to Dusty.

"I am glad he is meeting new ponies. He seems like he is going to need a friend." She said in a sweet tone.

Apollo glanced down at the apples and back at Eve and Nexus.

Ouch, looks like she's falling for another. not if I have anything to do about it. He thought as he picked up the apples with his magic.

"To be a guard you have to be careful, Ma'am. I shall escort you to the newly modified oven." Apollo said with confidence. Normally he wouldn't think of romance, due to past experiences and events. Something about the mare named Evergreen made him reconsider the notion of romance.

Nexus grabbed a few apples with his bat wings when she mumbled into his ears. Something about that really warmed his heart. After dealing with an arse of a pony, seeing one that cared like that was relieving. He whispered back.

"Thank you." He trotted over to the fire pit and set them down. He glanced back at Evergreen, feeling some strength returning. He could tell this was the beginning of a beautiful friendship. When Apollo was offering to escort her to the barracks that were 20 ft away, he quickly picked up on his intentions. He shouldn't be bothered, but there was something in his mind telling him that he was stealing the friend he needed to help him recover from his...episode. Which pissed him off. But he put on his usual emotional mask-weak as it was-and smiled.

"I can handle the rest of the work here. You need to get settled. We can talk later." He said with his ever present weak grin.

Dusty smiled at her remark "Yes, I hope he will have a great time here as well, just like we both are having." he said.

 

He watched Nexus talking with Evergreen and Apollo, he seemed much more relaxed, especially when he was interacting with the nature-loving mare. They were starting to work on the apples now as well.

 

"It looks like Nexus already has found a new friend."  he said when he saw Nexus interacting with Eve. "Hopefully this will distract him from his thoughts of the past and his anger."

Nexus piled up all the apples in a pile, and decided to return to the barracks to fill out the requisition form. He made it back, and entered his room without shutting the door. He finally let the visage break to reveal the gnawing depression below the mask. He took out a pen, and with his wings gripping the utensil, he began filling it out. He requested hoof claws with a Shock augmentation. After filling it out completely, he sealed it into an envelope, which quickly dispersed into a blue fire and flowed gracefully out the window. He was laying on his back, on his bed, with obvious sorrow on his face, waiting for either the claws or a rejection form to fly through the window. He was depressed, and slightly angry. The first friend he meets here, and the host takes her away to court her, like a jealous school foal. He was starting to regret coming here. It has been a very miserable experience, and only Crystal, her coltfriend, and Evergreen that have given him any sort of joy. He let out an exasperated sigh, and just waited.

Crystal nodded, then spoke softly.

"I think Apollo is trying to get with Evergreen there. Look where his gaze is focused. And right as Nexus is about to chat with her, he takes her away. He clearly is after her, and is willing to give up a guests happiness to do so." Crystal wasn't usually a gossip, but she was a little annoyed at what she witnessed in front of her. She hoped Evergreen would see past the visage he was putting up.

Apollo was starting to feel happy. He conversed with the mare in an appropriate manner, not mentioning anything guard related. Though when he spotted Nexus he was reminded of the requisition form he gave him. He was also reminded of the tears he shed.

He sighed,knowing what he had to do. "Sorry to do this but i have some Guard business to attend to." He bowed to Evergreen and made his way to the barracks.He trotted down the hallway and saw the pony. Apollo then knocked at Nexus' open door.

"Attention. Did you fill out that requisition form yet?" Apollo asked as he spotted a blue trail out the window.

"Did you just send the form..." Apollo sighs heavily.

"Well, I'm going to have paperwork to do now. I came here so i can approve the requisition directly and send it via an urgent channel...one that wouldn't require too much paperwork to be filled out...panther piss." Apollo knew a good chunk of his day was ruined. He had to spend time in his office while the guests were free to do whatever.

Despite his mix of negative emotions, Nexus tried to keep respect present.

"Sorry sir, it just sent itself when I sealed it. I assumed with the speed a mail, I would get a response within 10 minutes." He said, eyes up at the ceiling. 

"Well, I guess that will give us guests time to explore around, socialize, that sort of thing. I know my dau-Crystal will be happy for the R&R with her coltfriend. And I think I have some matters to discuss as well. With the other guests." He spoke rather emotionlessly. He didn't feel the need to force a smile in his room. Or at least to a pony that already knew the extent of his problems.

"Maybe I will get lucky and those damned claws will just sail through the window." He said in a sigh.

"Well, I don't want you to suffer concussions or anything," Night Song said concernedly. "Well, if you're sure you're alright, then want to get started on baking that pie?" She then looked over to what they have: sliced apples, a fire pit, and nothing more. ""Now, Rambler. Look over there. They improvised and made the fire pit into an oven," that stallion had said to Rambler. "But how the hay are we going to improvise dough?" she muttered to herself.

"Well you were wrong to assume. Though, this is really my fault. I should have explained the mailing system to you." Apollo said.

"There are three types of magical trails you should know.Blue goes to one of my three superiors. Yellow goes to the Armory, where your weapon might be. White goes to one of my men back at base." Apollo then turned around, heading into the hallway.

"Oh, and i have direct orders for you: Keep an eye on things, make sure no pony wanders off. If anypony disobeys, or anything should come up, throw a rock at my window... don't break it though."Apollo says as he walks out. He turns around and yells down the hallway

"Oh, and stay out of my house!" With that, Apollo leaves the housing structure and goes inside his house.

 

He makes his way to his office to find a letter and a neat stack of papers.

not too bad,but i'll still give the fragile lad time to woo her.Afterall there is that other mare.
