Why so many Sasuke's?

Now correct me if I get this wrong but, Sasuke's are OCs who are strong and get stronger when angry.

I have run across several on the forums(both in role plays and in forum games) and in my Dungeon and Dragons group. They also appear to be super emo. I ain't saying there's anything wrong with depression in OC's or other characters just not to an extreme and not all the time.I want to know what the logic and psychology is behind making such characters(if any)

-Get stronger when angry

...so Sasuke is the Hulk?

Lol. Anyway, I understand it to an extent. When you're angry, you're not gonna hold back. You wanna hurt someone as bad as you can. You're not thinking straight, you're just putting all of your energy into causing someone pain.

But only to a certain extent. There should be a limit to how strong your character is, and even if they're angry, they shouldn't pass this limit. If you're going fucking Super Saiyan when you're raging, that's just lazy character writing.

got myself mixed up there and fixed the op. But yeah, the characters i have dealt with go beyond Super Saiyan. And when i,as the DM, say no they get mad at me. I feel as if thats just them being egotistic.

Berserker characters can be good in tabletop games and roleplaying thread you know

I'm not sure about the psychological reasons or whatever that may cause someone to create any overpowered emo characters, but I partially blame Final Fantasy series and Shonen mangas for that. All that "dark past" and "undefeatable cuz I'm angry" bullshit is only cool when everyone is 7.

This was actually one of the reasons why I stopped RPing.I had it with all the "dark emo past character gets angry and achieves a power level of >9000" because it's ridiculous.

I can see getting angry as breaking a mental barrier for RPing a person with strong moral fibers or something and allowing them to act violent in a case where they usually wouldn't,but having Hulk-like scaling with anger is just plain dumb and lazy.

I have to agree, as a DM myself I had to make sure they didn't make such a character but thankfully they didn't have something like that in mind.

I don't know why people would like to make such characters really. I think it's something they view as "cool" and "awesome" while it really is unoriginal and cliche. I find a character who's a simple cook far more interesting and appealing than emo characters. Sure dark pasts can be interesting but people shouldn't go over the top with them.

And frankly, depressed characters are so annoying to handle, they always bring the mood down and that's just no fun at all. I mean, it's lazy writing really, a happy up-beat character is far more difficult to RP than a depressed character and you know why? Because depression is linked with disinterest, all the super depressed characters sound indifferent and uninterested and perhaps that's the reason why they're so annoying, the writer or the creator only has eye for his/her story and wants it to be developed only cuz you know, screw the rest it's all about me!

Don't get me wrong, I've met PCs who had a very, very good depressed characters but that's because they aren't depressed and selfish all the frickin' time. And that's what D&D is all about, not about you but about the party and the things that happen. You should connect with your party members, find out more about them, help eachother reach their goal and finish the campaign.

I don't know about the RP community but I bet plenty of RPers are tired of them too.

Personally my OC is like this but only because of something happening (which will be reflected more in a fic I'm writing) when he was younger. So much Dark energy...So little time...

This is unfortunately one of the reasons why I'm still feeling out the waters for RPing. The times that I have RP'd with others it seems as though a lot of users want to save the day more than their character should be capable of. Once in a while is alright, but when it happens over and over and over... I just lose interest because it feels as though nothing really interesting will happen in the RP session. No matter what I or anyone else in the topic does, that same character will save everyone from any and all future conflicts in the story!

I know I'll find some good RP topics when I gain more experience, it's just growing pains img-1469834-1-img-1369822-1-UNZJLhS.png

P.S. The Unstoppable Rage and Heroic Resolve tropes fit these kinds of situations derpy_emoticon2.png
