Right, so here's another one of these art topic things. I've put up one or two of my previous works and they've been generally well received by people I know IRL and people on this sight. SO here's more

 

You know how I always said I would get around to drawing my OCs but I could never be bothered? Well here they are :3 Finally. Or...here two of them are, anyway. 

Normally I draw pretty quickly, I scribble in some bad guidelines and go from there, very often ignoring them anyway.

 

For comparative reasons, i'll re-upload some of my older work here, some of the better ones at least. Average time per drawing ~20 minutes. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Now, these are from about 1 or 2 months ago, and they where copied from a google search, just to practice drawing again after I took a break. They still have some of the guidelines drawn in (yes! I learned to use them now ) but that's okay, because they where never meant for show - right?!

 

 

 

 

 

 

And here are my OCs - they're the first drawings i've done since the Rarity and Fluttershy heads...these took me a good 2 hours each, using guidelines and multiple grades of pencil - also - NO references aside from my OC pages  Oh and I should point out, this is the first time I have attempted shading in my abominations creations, so don't be too judgemental about that

Apologise for the image sizes and quality, I would have collabed them in GIMP first but i'm just feeling really lazy today <3 

 

So guys, let me know what you think? Any constructive criticism would be appreciated (compliments are too!) I can tell you now that overall i'm happy with the final result of my OCs, I can see a few things I would like to have better - Frostbite's back legs for example, and hair is my arch-enemy when it comes to drawing...

I can tell you now, the more you look at your own work the more you want to punch yourself for it - speaking from experience ^^

I'm sure yours are fine! Just keep at it and dont give up I used to put myself down about my work all the time, I made a few threads on here actually asking for advice about it and people just told me to believe in myself and keep at it, basically. 

 

Have someone criticise your drawings and see if you can improve on those areas, but take it slow. Like I said up there, I used to rush them all the time and look how they turned out :S Without trying to toot my own horn here I can see the improvement myself in the 2 hour drawings compared to some of the crap in my sketchbooks...

I like these drawings.

 

While I'm normally more of a fan of digital art, good sketches are always nice to look at too.

 

On an unrelated note, why the name "Creeping Dusk"? It's just... you know how RD's first name (and the name she sometimes goes by) is Rainbow? That's a cute first name, but "Creeping"? Dat's weird.

I normally send him with Dusk as his reference name, but I need to rename him. I've been meaning to for a while, but i've not gotten any good names yet. (It took me like 5 months to do this  )

And I would like to get into drawing digital art, but I only have GIMP and I dont seem to be able to use that too well, i've seen really good images drawn on there, so I know it's my own lack of talent haha. I'll get there eventually, I just want to get to a stage where I can draw quickly by hand and still be happy with my work.

Don't beat yourself up about these drawings. I fancy myself as an artist, but there's no way in hell I could draw as well as that.

I will get some more drawings up soon, probably tomorrow. I've been sat here for the past 5 hours thinking about how much I want to draw but really can't be bothered...so that's that

Those are very nice! You did a great job.

 

Also, you shouldn't hate your work. If you aren't satisfied with it, then you should work to improve, not bring yourself down. Personally, I think that all of the drawings in your post are all very good.

I dont exactly hate my work anymore, there was a stage where everything I drew was just like..."meh, get it away from me!" 

Now i've grown to appreciate what I can actually do - I know i'm improving every time I pick up the pencil, without wanting to sound pig-headed. 

 

I just kinda kept the title as a joke, anyone who's seen my posts before knows I used to be negative about my own things to an unhealthy degree But like I said, now i've grown to take pride in my work. Thanks for the compliments I'm still surprised by people saying they're good, even after all this time haha

Could I ask for a little help from you guys for a second? 

If you could just take a minute and look at my OC Harmonic, can you suggest a pose on how to draw him? 

I struggle with both visualising and drawing poses, but i'm trying to challenge myself to draw all my OCs in an interesting way and he's the next on my list. It'd be appreciated if you guys could just let me know some interesting positions. (That sounded a lot weirder than I originally intended)
