request Dusk Shine & Shining Armor Request(s) Thread *Artist's Sandbox*

As everyone can currently see in my signature (or here, since my signature will inevitably change), I'm a big fan of Shining and Twi's relationship; even more so, actually, from a R63 perspective on Twilight, lately :3 Brotherly bonds is one of those things I'm a sucker for.

 

Sadly, I never have money because I'm always broke, so paying for the top-tier artists over yonder in the Commissions section isn't going to happen That said, I pray there are some pretty decent artists out there who give charity to poor bastards like me who can't fork over compensation outside gratitude |'3

 

As such, I'm not going to give a specific request idea, nor am I going to stop looking after one artist does a picture. I'd really, truly just like for folks to give the two a try, give it their best, and post them here, no matter what other artists have also done it so far =p You can draw them doing whatever you want, from playing to hanging out or relaxing; as long as it's cute and sibling-esque, it really doesn't matter. Think of it as an excuse to practice and try out ideas; an Artists' Sandbox topic, sort of, just with a theme.

Here's something I whipped up! It's nowhere near the level of professionalism or skill that other artists here have, but what the heck, I thought I'd give it a try.

 

I was thinking that being genderbent isn't something that Twilight would necessarily enjoy (being in a different body and all that), and being afraid that her friends wouldn't like her because of that would only make her anxiety greater. (I'm just basing all of this off your signature)

 

So I drew the two of them in a cozy embrace... and yes, she's comfortably straddled between her big bro's legs in a reassuring hug.

In hindsight, I goofed up a lot on Shining Armor's hair color pattern, and I have no idea what I'm doing with the shading, besides trying to make it a front/back kind of separation. And I suck at consistency.

She also kind of looks like sonic with that hair. Woops!

Awww, truly adorable! And you don't give yourself enough credit, that's very well done. One of the cleaner quality sketches I've seen in a long while. And, you know what, it's actually a little funny; I'm currently in the process of a fan fic based off my signature, all about how Twilight gets turned into a stallion after an accident with hormone-based magic, and, while waiting in Canterlot for Celestia to aid him/her in changing back, he runs into Shining Armor, freaks out (thinking he'll be awkwarded out by her now being a boy), but Armor helps comfort him :3

 

I'm a bit stuck in it at the moment, I admit. Finished the first 'chapter', am three paragraphs into the second and am unsure how I want to continue from there. If we've got a similar idea going, I'm all up for help if you're at all interested ^^ Only if you are, though.

 

Otherwise, *saved* for sure Adorabwu!

I'd love to help out! I mean, I've never published a fan-fic of my own, but I could surley offer help where I'm able.

 

After taking a look at your fimfiction, am I correct to assume that this story will be a one shot? It seems like the main conflict would involve Twi battling her own self-esteem issues, moreso than acctually being accepted by Armor. Of course, Armor may feel somewhat awkward about it, but his acceptance would surely overshadow that. It also seems like involving the mane 6 would only bring up unnecessary drama.

 

Yet, how much longer could you expand the story after Armor discovers r63 Twi? Are Twi's concerns going to be resolved within a scene or two? If Twi is set on reverting to her original body, what problem would the other characters have besides growing accustomed to Twi's new appearance?

 

How were you planning to handle the whole 'Twi is now a guy' situation? Are things awkward because Armor still tries to treat his younger sibliing like a sister, or because Twilight still behaves as if he were female? Trying to battle conflicting signals (why is a boy/my sister/ acting like a girl when they should be more masculine?) could make things very awkward for Armor, while Twilight is only concerned about her appearance. Does Twi try to act more masculine to make things easier on Armor? Does the fact that she has a male body have any effect on her behavior/feelings/etc or does her personality/behavior remain identical?

 

I apologize for throwing all of these questions at you! Ones that you've probably asked yourself already! But I'm curious about your story now, and the subject matter is very interesting to me, too. It definitely sets the stage for one of those stereotype breaking/ love confirming kind of stories, something that has the potential to be extremely sweet and heartwarming, and that can possibly explore some of the real-world issues that would come from gender swapping/transsexualism, although the latter would imply that Twilight actually wants to be male, which I wouldn't think is the case...

 

Anyways, it would be a pleasure to help out. If I come up with any ideas that actually seem story-worthy, I'll make sure to throw them your way!
