Denim rocked on her hooves a few times as she thought it over, "I suppose some place casual, if we want to get there right away," she looked at herself, "Unless you don't mind being seen at a fancy place with a mare dressed as I am."

 

She toys with the bit of mane dangling alongside her face, "So long as it's a place that serves food, I'm happy with it." - "Nooot to mention getting to know you better, but we can leave that unsaid for now."

Tossing his textbook onto the coffee table, Windy got up and wrapped his hooves around her comfortingly. "Minty, what you think are flaws are what I think make you so great! Your mane is like cotton candy, which I love! As for your eyes, did I ever tell you lavender is my favorite color? And as for your personality, you're the sweetest, most straight up mare I've ever met! As for your fears, we all have 'em, and I promise I'll help you to not be afraid anymore. You have to start believing that you are a great mare. Like I said before, I'm just gonna keep flattering you and telling you how great you are until you finally realize its true."

Minty blushed fiercely. "Well, I guess I'm starting to believe I may be.. decent looking.. Just decent. Pretty is way out of my league. And thank you, but don't you notice I can be aggressive and even a little pushy? I can be pushy at times.. I feel bad.." Minty says, fiddling with her mane. "Thank you, though.."

Royal smiled. "Trust me it wouldn't matter what you'd be wearing."  Even nothing. He thought, resisting the urge to hit himself.

"I think i saw a nice family restaurant on my way in." He said, turning to be directly next to her.

"It's not very far away. Come on" He said, extending a hoof in politeness.

Letting go of Minty slowly and trotting into the kitchen to begin preparing dinner, Windy shrugged. "Well, you're far more than 'just decent', but I guess any improvement in your self esteem is good. Baby steps, baby steps..." Pulling out some carrots and beginning to dice them up, he went on, "And with the exception of... when we were going at it, I've never seen you be aggressively pushy before! And whipping me and being a super hot dominant mare in bed doesn't count as being overly pushy." he added, snickering. "Don't feel bad for what you are Minty. Nopony should hate their essence, and your essence is to be a sweet, kind doll of a mare who is the nicest pony anypony will ever meet. You bring sunshine to everypony you talk to! You're impossible not to love!" He said, waving around a potato for emphasis.

Rambler nodded. "Okay then. I think I'm going to get the same thing. I don't feel like putting a lot of thought into my order." Rambler laughed. He placed their orders and quickly returned. "I guess I'm up for some questions. Did you have any particular silly questions in mind?"

Denim smiled, "Well, that's good to know." - "At least he's got a plan. Well, he did say he likes to be a couple steps ahead!"

 

She takes his hoof, managing to keep the blood from collecting in her cheeks enough to be noticeable. Denim walks with him, outwardly her demeanor unchanged, but inwardly very excited.

As they walked, he thought about any specific questions to ask, or avoid. Royal knew Denim would have sensitive areas as he did. He also thought about what to order.

"So you have anything in mind to eat? I was thinking some pasta would be nice."

Windy felt immensely sorry for Minty as she said nopony liked her. Looking over, he smiled kindly at her, "Of course I like you Minty! I mean, I said it to you in the fitness center, and I just don't say stuff I don't mean! And lots of ponies like you! I mean, Blaze likes you! Even Coach Shinsplints told me he thinks you are 'a real catch'!" Dropping the celery he had been about to chop, he walked out into the living room and wrapped his hooves around Windy from behind, and rocked her gently. "Windy, you've gotta believe me when I say that I lo- really like you." 

 

"Why didn't you say love? I don't want to drive her away, ok?! I'm taking this slow..."

Rambler thought for a moment. "Well, if you mean serious ones, I guess there aren't many. I mean, don't get me wrong, I've been around, but I've only really had two relationships that count for much. "So, how were classes?" She asked, figuring that they could get a head start on the conversation.

Royal grunted. "Boring. But not, a bit. I heard some things, and managed to get into those gossiping crowds."  He would admit it, he liked hearing the gossip. He considered himself good with people, and had a strange satisfaction from helping them. He noticed they had reached the restaurant, and opened the door for her, as always.

((This is a different pony's POV, not Windy's. This is Todd Stocks, the President of the Fraternity Windy wants to pledge to))

 

"Runner... Runner... Where is that Windy Runner guy? I bet he'll be happy to know he's been accepted as a pledge member of the brotherhood... Hehe, it doesn't take much to make those filthy little freshman feel special. I'm gonna enjoy hazing him... But who knows, maybe he'll make a good businesspony someday. But somepony has to break to him that he has no future as a soccer player! He just won't cut it at the pro level. One step at a time Todd; you'll get through to him eventually." 

 

Trotting down the freshman hallway, Todd tried to fight the urge to stick up his nose, despite the accommodations being so... underclassmen. "Father always says you must put on a show of being a humble everystallion, or nopony will follow you willingly... And if they aren't following you, how can you rob 'em blind!?" He thought, chuckling heartily as he headed down the hallway. Rounding a corner, he froze up. Standing, blocking the hallway, his hallway, was a little freshman colt runt! About to snarl at the shrimp to move, Todd noticed he wasn't alone... a very pretty mare was with him! Grinning arrogantly and straightening his Fraternity Jacket, Todd stepped toward the pair, 'accidentally' pushing aside the smaller colt. All thoughts of finding Runner forgotten, Todd stuck out a hoof and introduced himself. "Why hello there cutie. You must be new here. Name's Todd Stocks, you know, son of the famous Stock Margins. And what might your name be? It must be pretty name to match your appearance..."

"When you first walked in, I thought I had to be pretty much the luckiest stallion in the world to be roomed with such an attractive mare, and I couldn't wait to get to know you. Gardenia was taken aback by how rudely this new stallion, Todd Stocks, introduced himself. "Hey! I was having a conversation with Blaze here." She put a hoof up to her mouth.

 

"My, I'm not typically assertive like that. But this... brute is just, well, I won't allow myself to think such, I am sure he must have some reason to act that way after all."

 

She put her hoof down, with a little more force than she intended, and gave a stern, at least comparatively, it was still quite soft by most standards, look to Stocks, "My name is Gardenia, if you must know for some reason."

"Gardenia... It suits you. And you were having a conversation? With whom, this little shrimp? You mean you would rather continue talking to him than me? Handsome stallions need beautiful mares at their side. And you certainly fit that description..." He crooned, sizing up every curve she had with his eyes. "Here's an idea Gardenia, my Frat is putting on a dance in a few days, and we all need dates. Since I'm the president, I need the fairest date of all... What do you say to being my very special somepony for a night?"

(OOC; ok, that didn't take nearly as long as I expected it to. Anyway,)

 

"Oh really?" She said, "Anything interesting been going on around here?" Denim's natural curiosity had been piqued. While she normally didn't take to much interest in pony's personal lives as they were, you know, personal, it was a conversational piece that she decided to sieze.

 

Before Royal answered, they arrived at their destination. The stallion held the door open for her, as usual. And as usual, she thanked him as she stepped inside, looking around the restaurant. She spotted two ponies that she recognized slightly better than most from last night were there as well. She nudged Royal, "Hey look, it's the guitar pony and.. Neon, I think she said her name was."
