~Squishy Skies~ 756 June 8, 2013 Share June 8, 2013 Ummm. It would be cool. I guess. Maybe. I'd rather just have a plush, or some other physical relic, but holograms are pretty cool 'n' stuff. Rabbit-Kin ~Paris' Waifu
FractalMoon 378 June 8, 2013 Share June 8, 2013 I'd have to say that it probably won't work... A hologram (Autostereoscopic projection) requires a lot of designing, and the entire thing would REEK of uncanny valley.

Haven't had too much luck, but I'm not giving up on my search just yet! I will continue on my journey until I have a Fluttershy to cuddle with! THIS I SWEAR. Nohbdy 4,108 June 8, 2013 Share June 8, 2013 Is this really such a great idea? I'm a bit doubtful. MLPonies aren't like real humans in that they're supposed to be flat. In real life, the ponies would look very strange. As another poster mentioned, the ponies would easily cross into the uncanny valley. I'm not sure if I want to see ponies in three dimensions. Furthermore, rather than projecting a person, a hologram of a MLPony would require computer models. Even the most realistic models are still a far cry from reality itself, and it certainly wouldn't help the uncanny valley aspect of 3D ponies. Besides, what would be the use of holographic ponies? A 3D concert with MLP songs could work, as would an episode featuring 3D ponies (both of which would require computer models), but I have doubts about the economic practicality of these tasks. They just wouldn't be worth the costs. And Star Trek-style holodecks are still out of reach. Personally, I'd prefer augmented reality glasses that project 2D ponies into the environment. We wouldn't have to deal with the uncanny valley, and we wouldn't have to deal with the limitations of hologram technology. And we get to see something like this:
Winona the Dog 1,984 June 8, 2013 Share June 8, 2013 I think we'd be better off sticking to those 3-D/ 4-D roller coaster movie rides. I think that would be interesting. Holographic ponies seem way to far fetched and out of our technological range. Unless som random aliens decided to come to Earth and give us said technology. duidamasterXD 9,627 June 8, 2013 Share June 8, 2013 This thread appears to be related to the My Little Pony franchise and/or the Bronydom in general. Thus, it has been sentenced to Sugarcube Corner. This is an automatically generated message, by the way.
Gone for good 1,593 June 8, 2013 Share June 8, 2013 Actually if you can get a decent 3d modeler person guy to come in you could probably get some good looking ponies that would be radical in hologram form. Just editing my signature to say that my behavior on here was cringe. I don't regret the friends i made but man i was cringe here
