At least I managed to make it before D1SC0RD uploaded the new one. On this one, I mainly messed up on the eyes (as usual), and her right hind leg. This is the first drawing to ever strain my arm for having it bent for so long. I like how this turned out, but I could've been better, in my opinion.



I bet Rarity's going to be the next one.

Here it is!  I had found this topic a few days ago and did not post anything to it because I didn't have anything to post on it.  Well, I clicked follow so I didn't lose it, and do you know what my computer didn't doo since somehow half the buttons on this site do NOT WORK for me.  So I couldn't find it, and all I remembered was the first four letters of your username, d1sc0rd, and typing d1scord with an o and not a 0 didn't give me any results.  So I couldn't find it, until I saw your username in the Friday Movie Night Request thread.  So, I found this topic, and am creating this post solely for the purpose of letting myself find this again when the next picture is here, because I want to get to draw better.  I don't want TO draw, and make that a little hobby, I just want to get better AT drawing, for when I have to.  And this looks like fun.

And don't worry about posting late! Work at your own pace and on whatever image you like... I think in a while I might re-do an older image to see if my technique has improved.

 

Thanks to @ZenPowerBuilder for being a shining example of jumping in and working from the ground up. I look forward to seeing your Applejack, and hopefully all the ponies that come afterward.

Here is my attempt at drawing the current image, I think it turned out alright, though there are some definite mistakes. Oh well...

Rarity image is up! You guys (or at least one of you) seen this coming... But I bet you didn't expect Butterfly Rarity! Hah!

 

Unfortunately I couldn't find a vector for the pose I selected. I had to take a screen cap and enlarge it a bit so the quality is not optimal. Added a background so you guys can see her light-colored lines easier. Oh, and an all caps note for you: YOU DO NOT NEED TO DRAW THE WINGS.

 

And once again, I have been slacking. I didn't draw this ahead of time. I'll do it tomorrow... for now, I need sleep!

This looks good, but just as a hint to help... make your rough lines really light, or use a hb or other light soft pencil that's easier to erase. Then go over the lines you want to keep darker and voila! less  ghost lines!

First time I've drawn her and best I could come up with for a first try. Her eyes were the hardest bit for me to get. I think her neck looks a bit longish or something.

Cool. Nothing much to say about this one specifically. I think I need to be doing these larger, as so far I've basically fit each in a 3" x 4" space. That and I should probably pick up a better sharpener, as my lines are awfully thick at times, and the silly little sharpener I have is more likely to break the lead than cut it.

 

Long time ago, I used to have a draftsman mechanical pencil. They used really thick leads, unlike the standard mechpencils you pick up in stores now, so they didn't break so easily. There was a special sharpener for them as well, to keep them *sharp* for drafting purposes. I wonder if I can find anything like that again, and whether they make different hardness leads for them still.

Second attempt at inking. Much better this time. I have never imagined how much you can sweat when doing this sort of thing I decided not to shade it this time because I'm too lazy I didn't want to ruin it. I might change my mind and shade it tomorrow though.

Decided to start right from the beginning with my favorite pony Applejack.

I think it turned out pretty good for my first try at drawing a pony. Hardest part was the eyes for me but i think that was because i was drawing on a small scale.  Another problem i encountered was i ran out of room on the hat. Thats what i get for using a 3 by 5 card.  Lastly i spent a long time on the rear legs they seem awkward to me mainly the right back leg.   My biggest problem is just not wanting to draw in the first place i really want to practice and get better but i just never feel like starting a sketch.  Once I start i cant wait to finish it though.

Eh, it's okay, I guess. Portions are a bit off (by my standards), but it could have been worst.

 

I spent an hour trying to figure out how to draw the eyes.

In my defense... it's Rarities eyes that are at fault! They went all derpy on me when I tried to draw them and the rest is history..............

Here we go, I tried to capture her grace and beauty in to one image, but I think I crammed a bit too much of it in there so she turned a bit on the pudgy side with all that grace taking space.

D'awww! What a cutie! I just wanna pinch her cheeks. Look at those stubby limbs!  .

Pudgey ponies are the way to go, people... Seriously. Ponies are kinda tubby. And definitely full of grace, as you can see with the obvious ballerina resemblance in Sheogorath's painting.

 

Heehee, but really it is adorable.

 

Also..... I'll draw the picture today. I don't really know why I've been so lazy! Oh yeah because I'm lurking reddit and MLPforums

I decided to experiment some more with ink. Pinkie was my victim. Those shaded (or whatever it's called) legs look very weird...

I must say I enjoy working with ink. I'm gonna buy some proper supplies when I come back from my holiday. (Right now I'm using some random pen I found lying around )

done!  I have finished my first pony sketch, and it actually looks better than I expected, though the face was also harder than I expected, and I made her snout actually look like it belonged on a horse.  Also, her left eye (right eye from our point of view) basically looks like a blurry blob of pencil because I kept erasing it to try and get the pupils not too big, but not too small.  I also omitted the wings, because they just don't look right, and so I instead added Pinkie Pie's party cannon.
